“Second Madam Garcia?”
Elena was stunned when she saw who was at the door. Why did Sasha come to her at such an hour? Sasha’s eyes locked onto her face. Although she had seen it during the day, she was still surprised every time she looked at Elena.
“Do you know a woman named Talia ?” Sasha asked.
Elena froze and moved to the side. “Second Madam Garcia, come in and have a seat.”
It was not polite to block someone at the door. Sasha did not miss the surprised look in Elena’s eyes. She walked into the room, sat down on a chair, and looked at Elena, who closed the door after her.
Sasha smiled and asked, “So, do you know Talia?”
“Why do you ask?” Elena was always cautious when someone asked about her mother.
“You look like her.”
Sasha stared at the precautionary look in Elena’s eyes and continued to say, “I used to know her very well, and every time she went out on a date with my brother, I covered for them.”
“Your brother… Third Young Master Garcia?”
How could that be? Were her mom and Harley in love? Then, how on earth did Grace become Harley’s woman? Elena’s mind was in a mess. She seemed to have figured out some problems, and yet things seemed impossible. She was not Old Master Garcia’s granddaughter! She did the test, and the report was out!
“Don’t you know?” Sasha’s eyes flashed, and eventually, her face sank.
“Is Ava also Talia’s daughter? But I could see Grace treats her very well, even better than a mother.”
She stared at Elena sharply, so that she would not miss any expression on her face that would indicate a lie.
“Did you say that Ava is Talia’s daughter?” Elena opened her eyes wide in shock. What?!
She thought that Grace had a secret relationship with Harley and then gave birth to an illegitimate daughter, Ava, without Henry’s knowledge. Elena had suspected that she was the Garcia family’s real granddaughter. She had the same thought as Sasha.
Did Ava, Grace, and Henry join forces to steal her identity? However, her suspicion was completely crushed earlier that day. The DNA test report between her and Old Master Garcia showed that they were not related, so she could only accept the fact that Ava was the Garcia family’s real granddaughter.
She had been puzzled as she could not figure out why Henry still treated Grace so well after he found out that the woman had betrayed him. In hindsight, she knew that Henry was willing to do anything as long as it benefited him. Grace might have betrayed him, but if the mother and daughter could bring him benefits, why would he not continue to please them? She had let the matters lie as she was convinced with her theory.
What did Sasha mean? Why did she say that Ava was Talia’s daughter?
Elena hid the shock in her mind and greeted Sasha’s exploring gaze resolutely.
“I don’t know anything that happened between the older generation. I am just here to join the fun.”
“Little girl, are you putting up your guard against me?” Sasha smiled faintly.
That little girl was only about 18 or 19 years old, but she was more mature than her age. Her train of thought did not fit someone her age.
“Second Madam Garcia, I don’t understand what you mean.” Elena blinked innocently.
She was cautious, indeed. Before things were made clear to her, she dared not speak out her mind. A big mouth could court disasters, and that was a taboo for big and prominent families.
“Talia and Harley were in love, but my dad objected to their relationship. As a result, they eloped, and later, Talia gave birth to a daughter.
“My brother, Harley, was involved in a car accident, and Talia and their daughter had been missing since then.
“My father didn’t know that he had a granddaughter until six months ago when we were organizing Harley’s things and discovered that Harley had had a daughter.”
“We have been searching for her since then before we found out that Talia had lived with Henry and Grace when she was alive.”
Elena squeezed her fists tightly. She had not expected that! They had found Ava through her mother, Talia! None of that had anything to do with Grace. Her mother was the one who was with Harley, not Grace!
Nonetheless, she was not the Garcia family’s granddaughter! Did her mother not get pregnant with Harley’s child? Perhaps the old master was wrong?
As for the DNA test of the old master and Ava, her people must have tampered with the result. Those people had benefited through her mother’s relationship with the Garcia family.
Sasha got up from the chair and walked toward her. Elena was on high-alert, and she took two steps backward, to put some distance between them.
“Second Madam Garcia, may I ask what other matters do you have with me?” she asked with a blank expression.
“Are you Grace’s daughter? Why didn’t we hear that you are Talia’s daughter?”
The old master had pieced together the information, and he went to Bentson on a mission to bring back a child named Elena. Instead, Sasha was perplexed that the old master brought Ava back with him.
However, Joseph had explained that they did the DNA test personally. No one in the Garcia family doubted Joseph’s explanation at that time. Well, Sasha had not suspected it as well, not before she saw Elena. After that, she was sure that something had gone wrong.
Elena knew what she wanted to do, so she smiled and shook her head. “I am not Old Master Garcia’s granddaughter, I have done my own DNA test as well.”
“What?” Sasha frowned as she stared at the younger woman with a puzzled expression.
“If I were his granddaughter, do you think that I would not want to acknowledge my grandfather?”
Elena smiled calmly. If she had proof that she was his granddaughter, she would have exposed Ava’s scheme. At that moment, she realized that Ava was also not Old Master Garcia’s granddaughter. She had not figured out how to deal with the matter, so she could not act so rashly.
What if someone in the Garcia family was Ava’s accomplice? What if someone from the Garcia family had falsified the DNA report for Ava and Old Master Garcia’s test? Her mind was in a mess. The only thing that she was sure was that she did not want Old Master Garcia to get hurt nor cheated.
He had finally found his granddaughter at such an old age. Would his heart take it if he found out that everything was a lie? If she chose to keep quiet about it, Ava might continue to benefit from Old Master Garcia. She might even get Garcia Corporation’s share. Elena dared not think about that. What would happen to Old Master Garcia if that were to happen? She looked at Sasha and squeezed her fists tightly.
“Actually, you don’t need to spend more time on me. I have done the test, and I am not Garcia family’s granddaughter, but…”
She slowed down and said with a poker face, “Why don’t you start with Ava? Is it that difficult to know if she’s Old Master Garcia’s granddaughter?”
