Elena thought her acting was good enough. At least she looked like a pitiful creature who dared not complain even though she had been wronged.
However, she did not expect that tears would well in her eyes with just one question from Old Master Garcia. She knew that the older man was sincere with his words. She had to turn away to avoid his glance.
It had looked more real that way, and it showed her diffidence. She did not want to put up an act in front of the old man, but her emotions were out of her control. That was why her reaction had looked more genuine than she had intended.
She did not expect to have another elderly friend to care about her after her grandmother’s passing. She thought that her grandmother was her everything.
“I’m alright.” Elena wiped her tears away as she did not want Old Master Garcia to worry about her. “I was…just messing with her.”
Ava wanted to accuse her of acting in front of Old Master Garcia, but she did not see that coming—the damned b*tch did not even seize the chance to blame her!
Elena said that it was only a joke, and Ava had lost the opportunity to curse her.
Joseph glanced at Ava. He felt a little resistant toward his long-lost cousin, and he could tell that she was a great actor.
However, she was still his family’s granddaughter. No matter what, no one should humiliate her.
Joseph looked at Elena and asked, “Are you really okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine.” Elena shook her head and stood up.
“You…”
Levi immediately said, “Old Master Garcia is here to see Miss Garcia.”
Although there were two Miss Garcias in the same room, Levi had always addressed Elena as ‘Young Madam’ or ‘Miss Elena’, so they knew that he meant Ava.
However, Old Master Garcia asked, “Elena, why are you here?”
“Elena used to be…” Joseph thought for a second and decided not to mention anything to his grandfather. He said, “Ava lives here, and Elena is her sister, so she spends her time here as well.”
Even though Old Master Garcia knew there was something wrong with that story, he did not ask for more details. He turned around and asked Ava, “Have you had your breakfast?”
“No.” It was true. She had waited for Elena the whole night, so she was hungry, tired, and sleepy!
Ava wanted to rest, but she was afraid that Old Master Garcia would have more chances to speak with Elena.
She walked toward them, took hold of Old Master Garcia’s arm, and asked, “Grandfather, I would like to go out for a walk. Would you come with me, please?”
“First, let’s go downstairs and have breakfast first.” It did not look like Old Master Garcia thought of himself as a guest there.
He looked at Levi and politely asked, “Could you prepare some breakfast for the girls?”
“We have prepared some food for them,” Levi immediately said.
Ava did not like that, so she shook Old Master Garcia’s arm.
“Grandfather, I only want to have breakfast with you!”
“That’s alright, I can tell them to set another table for the three of you,” Levi smiled as he looked at Elena. “Miss Elena, Eldest Young Master Williams is on his way back from his morning exercise in the backyard. Would you like to wait for him downstairs?”
Ava was immediately upset when she heard that!
What the hell? Was she supposed to eat breakfast with the old man, while Elena could dine with Eldest Young Master Williams?
Did they not spend enough time together the previous night?
Ava was so angry that she could chop Levi into pieces!
“If Michael wanted to have breakfast, he would need me to accompany him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have an appetite!”
However, she was equally worried if Elena were to dine with Old Master Williams.
“Grandfather, why don’t you head back to the hotel first? I’ll find you right after I finished breakfast with Michael.”
“No, that’s OK. My main purpose today is to visit Eldest Young Master Williams.” He did not expect to see Elena there, so it was a pleasant surprise.
When Joseph heard that Elena had left the police station the same night, he had decided to visit her. However, he did not expect to see her at WongRiver Pavilion.
Ava could not find an excuse to separate Elena from Old Master Garcia. It seemed like her performances just a moment ago had left an unfavorable impression on them.
Elena’s ‘just messing with her’ had saved her from limbo. Even though she did not feel grateful toward her, she was not too dumb to understand the situation. She would have gone overboard if she were to continue to pick a fight with Elena.
She had also realized that Joseph had seemed distant with her.
Even though Eldest Young Master Garcia got his surname through his father’s uxorilocal marriage with his mother, he was still the most influential figure in the family after Old Master Garcia.
She did not want to offend him—at least, not before she solidified her own stance.
They went downstairs together, and Levi asked the butler to prepare breakfast for them.
Just as they reached the living room, Michael had come back from his morning exercise.
He was dressed in casual black. Even though he was covered in warm sweat, the room’s temperature seemed to have dropped when he stepped into it. His clothes were soaked in sweat, and even his hair was wet with droplets of sweat. His cold eyes shone with a mysterious light—it was deep and vigorous.
Ava was immediately mesmerized.
Every time Michael appeared before her eyes, he would look even more attractive.
It had been more than two months since she stayed with him. She should have been used to his face, however attractive he was. However, he was not the same as the other men. She would never get enough of him! It was as if she was addicted to him
Elena had the same problem. She could not move her eyes from Michael. She tried to look elsewhere reluctantly; she did not want to indulge in his beauty.
She was still sore after a whole night of strenuous activity with Michael. However, that man still looked energetic. He looked completely refreshed, and he even trained with his men.
She was unwilling to accept it, but that man was toxic! She did not know how men would feel when they saw him, but the woman would get poisoned.
She lowered her head and stood behind Old Master Garcia, as she tried her best to limit her sense of presence. She hoped that Michael would not be able to see her.
Levi quickly went over to Michael and said, “Eldest Young Master Williams, Old Master Garcia is here.”
“Hmm,” Michael answered coldly. Then he walked toward Old Master Garcia. “Welcome. Very sorry if I’ve neglected you!”
“Miss Garcia and Miss Elena had not had their breakfasts yet, so Old Master Garcia wanted to have breakfast with them,” Levi explained.
“Good.” Michael was cold and proud by default, but he was respectful toward Old Master Garcia. He had always admired their family’s status in the pharmaceutical world!
He seldom saw Old Master Garcia, but the old man was so gentle and warm with other people; it was a rare trait for someone of his status.
“My apologies, Old Master Garcia and Eldest Young Master Garcia, I would have to excuse myself for a short while.” Drenched in sweat, he had to take a shower and change into a fresh pair of clothes.
Old Master Garcia nodded. He liked the young man more and more each time he saw him.
Joseph also smiled and said, “Well then, I’ll dine with grandfather and the two ladies, so please don’t worry about us.”
“Make yourselves home.” Michael nodded and went upstairs after he addressed Old Master Garcia.
Elena sighed in relief.
Perhaps she had received too much oppression from Eldest Young Master Williams, so she felt thankful when he did not look for her.
However, her relief was gone just as suddenly.
A voice echoed from behind her after Michael took a few steps up the stairs. “Little Thing, follow me!”
