Levi was the only one who picked up Elena at Henry’s apartment.
Michael was not home, and WongRiver Pavilion had no guests either. The servants were shocked to see Elena when Levi brought her home; they did not know what had happened.
She had her luggage with her, and it seemed like she was to stay there for a long time.
Just as before, Elena smiled at the servants and nodded at them.
Then she let the servants take her luggage to the second floor. They had arranged for her to stay in her old room.
She had not been around for so long, so she thought Ava would take over her room. Elena, however, did not ask any questions about that.
It seemed like she was to stay for a while, and she had nothing to do with Ava.
“Miss Elena, Eldest Young Master has gone back to the Williams’s mansion, he may return quite late tonight.”
“Aren’t you going to help him?” Elena did not turn back to look at him. She placed her laptop on the table and opened it.
“I’m just about to go there, Miss Elena. I’ve already left instructions to the servants, so please ask them if there is anything else you needed.”
Levi was worried that the servants would favor Ava since she had been there for so long. He was unsure how they would treat Elena after she was back at the house.
Hence, he gave specific instructions to the servants. He told them that Elena was Eldest Young Master’s distinguished guest, and everyone should treat her with respect.
The servants were temporarily under control, but WongRiver Pavilion was a place where those Eldest Young Master Williams favored were treated well.
Therefore, how Elena fared in her days at WongRiver Pavilion would be ultimately determined by Eldest Young Master Williams.
“I understand, I’ll be fine by myself.”
Elena finally turned around to look at him, “Thank you, Levi.”
Her gratitude was sincere; Levi had been kind to her. He had been hesitant when Michael wanted him to call the police on her. Plus, he was not the one to make the call.
Levi nodded at her and bade her goodbye before he left the room.
He seemed tired that day; it was as if he had not slept well the previous night. He had eye bags under his eyes.
As he stepped out of the room, Elena calmly said, “Her life isn’t in danger for the time being, but the doctor is not sure when she will wake up.”
Levi’s body trembled as he turned to look at her. Elena kept her eyes on her laptop screen, and her fingers tapped away on the keyboard.
“You can go and check on her at the hospital. Just tell them that you’re a friend; there’s no need to be secretive about it.”
“Hmm,” Levi nodded silently.
He had only heard about Layla fall when Elena went to look for Ava.
He was worried when he thought about the silly girl in the ICU. He did not feel about the situation.
As Levi was about to shut the room door, he turned around to glance at her.
Elena’s silhouette looked thin and frail. She had always been scrawny, and she looked weak as well.
Calmly, he said, “Ava had been with Old Master Garcia the whole day yesterday. Her mom didn’t go overseas, and we still don’t know where she is at the moment.”
“Levi!” Elena’s breathing labored. She turned around and looked at him with surprise.
“You are the rightful young madam, even though neither of you would admit it.”
Levi looked desolate and a little helpless about the situation. He had not smiled ever since he knew about Layla’s incident.
“I really can’t guess Eldest Young Master’s thoughts these days. In fact, I don’t think anybody can.” Eldest Young Master Williams’s thoughts were so well hidden that nobody could see through them. It might not have been solely because of Elena, but she definitely had something to do with it.
He was certain that Eldest Young Master Williams had liked Elena, but he could not be sure of that little fact at that moment.
Perhaps, Eldest Young Master Williams was only interested in revenge. Maybe he hated her. No one could say for sure.
“I am Eldest Young Master Williams’s personal aid, so I have to carry out his orders, even though I may not agree with him.”
“I understand.” Elena stood up and looked at him. “I’m delighted that you can tell me these things. Thank you, Levi. I mean it.”
Levi nodded. His job was to serve Eldest Young Master Williams, and there were things that he could not do.
The last piece of news about Grace came from overseas; hence, people assumed that she would spend a long time abroad.
However, Levi had received different information about her whereabouts; she had not even left the country, though, he was unsure if she was in Bentson.
He left the room, and Elena was left by herself.
She took a seat on the chair again. She stared at the laptop screen for a while before she logged on to her email to send a message to Caleb.
At around nine in the morning, Elena took her breakfast and worked on the draft document for her workgroup.
The discussion in the group was serious but lively. Everyone was in work mode, and no one chatted casually.
That was September Media’s higher administrative workgroup. Elena typed her message for the colleagues. [Even though Layla is not in the office at the moment, our work still has to continue.]
After that, she started to give everyone their assignments and make arrangements for the next three months. She also delegated Layla’s work to other people.
Then she assigned new tasks to Lois. Other than some of Layla’s workload, Lois would also need to train their new staff. It looked like she would be too busy to feel sad about the situation with her friend.
She did not want to mess up Layla’s tasks as she did not want her friend to be disappointed when she woke up. Therefore, she would have to work hard to ensure that it would not happen.
She would also have no time to find trouble with Ava. With her ability, she could not go against Ava anyway. There was also the person who supported Ava from behind the scene. She was not their match.
Elena had been busy the whole day.
By night time, Michael still had not returned to WongRiver Pavilion. So she had dinner in her room, and when the servants took away the dirty dishes, Elena opened her wardrobe.
The clothes in the wardrobe had remained the same; they were all hers.
She picked a nightgown at the corner. Levi had prepared it for her when she first moved to WongRiver Pavilion. It was soft and sexy.
She took the sleeping gown and went to the bathroom.
Half an hour later, she walked out of the bathroom in a powder white nightgown.
Droplets of water trickled down her freshly washed hair; she felt refreshed. She was as beautiful as a gardenia, even though she had no makeup on her.
She dried her hair and sat in the chair with a book while she waited.
Yes, she waited.
With what had happened the previous night, Michael would not return by himself that night.
Hence, she waited.
Finally, at around nine in the evening, a car engine hummed from the front yard…
