“I am not here to see you.” Elena was familiar with the place. She ignored Ava and walked right past her, and made her way upstairs.
Ava rushed forward and caught Elena’s wrist. “Stop! I said that you can’t just enter this place as you wish!”
She had so much strength that she almost pulled Elena down. Ava would not have been able to do that if Elena had not just left the hospital. The younger Garcia sister grabbed onto the handrail to stabilize her footing from that violent tug.
“And I said, I didn’t come to see you.” Elena tried to shake Ava’s hands off her.
Ava roared angrily. “Stop her!”
The servants were confused. They did not know whether to obey her order or not. After all, Elena had been the future young madam who had lived there for quite some time. When she realized that the servants would not do anything to help her, Ava rushed forward to pull Elena’s wrist again.
“Bi*ch! You are not allowed to do as you wish here!”
Elena wanted to see Eldest Young Master Williams. She probably wanted to get back with him, so why would Ava allow her the chance to do that? As they struggled with each other, Levi’s tall and lanky figure appeared at the top flight of the stairs.
When he saw them, he rushed toward them with puzzlement on his face. “What are you… what’s going on?”
“I know that Eldest Young Master Williams is back. I have some important things that I must tell him in person.”
Elena looked up to meet Levi’s gaze. She pleaded, “Five minutes. Levi, I will not take up too much of his time, just give me five minutes with him.”
Levi shook his head and helplessly said. “Sorry, Miss Elena, Eldest Young Master does not want to see anyone tonight.”
“Just five minutes!” Elena grabbed the railing tightly. She was afraid that Ava would drag her down if she were not careful.
Ava had gone crazy; she was like a shrew as she continued to tug at Elena violently to prevent her from going up the stairs. Levi could not hide his disgust; he walked down and pulled Ava’s hand away from Elena.
“You!” Ava knew that Levi had always favored that b*tch!
However, there was nothing Levi could do as Eldest Young Master Williams was the one who refused to see Elena! Even if Levi wanted to help Elena, he could not defy his eldest young master’s order.
“Elena, haven’t you heard enough? Michael doesn’t want to see you! Why are you so stubborn?”
Ava had gone up to Michael’s room earlier, but Levi had chased her away. It had been a long time since she last spoke to Eldest Young Master Williams. He had never liked a conversation with her, but the situation had gotten worse. It was difficult to see him, and even if they did meet, they would only exchange a few words.
Elena ignored Ava’s outburst. She only looked at Levi. “Tell him, please. I only need five minutes of his time. Levi, please!”
Levi hesitated, but he could no longer deny her requests.
He nodded and said, “I shall ask him, but Eldest Young Master has been really tired recently, he might not…”
“Tell him that it will only take only five minutes!”
“Very well.” Levi turned and walked up the stairs.
Ava took Levi’s position as if she was afraid that Elena would rush forward. A few moments later, Levi appeared again, and Elena looked at him eagerly.
Levi was reluctant to do it to Elena, but he had no choice. He shook his head, and bleakly said, “Miss Elena, you should head back for now. I will make an appointment for you…”
No one thought that Elena would suddenly step past Ava and headed upstairs.
“B*tch! What are you doing?” Ava grabbed her.
However, Elena was too fast for her, and Ava had used up her full strength. The two of them struggled until Elena lost her footing and rolled down the stairs.
“Miss Elena!” Levi was terrified for her, and he rushed forward to check on her.
Ava also did not expect that Elena would tumble backward.
She was so stunned and terrified that she gaped at the scene in front of her. Fortunately, they were not too high up the stairs when Elena fell. She did not knock her head during the fall, but she suffered some light injuries.
Levi helped her up. When Elena tried to move her foot, she realized that her knees were injured. A great deal of pain spread across her body when she tried to move.
However, she brushed it aside and looked up at the stairs as she called out loudly. “Eldest Young Master Williams, I really have something important to tell you. All I need is just five minutes!”
Michael must have heard her; she had called out so loudly. Levi felt so distressed when he saw her in such a miserable state.
He sighed softly and tried to persuade her again. “Miss Elena, it is pretty much useless for you to say anything at the moment. Eldest Young Master… doesn’t want to see you.”
“Why doesn’t he want to see me? Why?!”
If she had remembered correctly, he was the one who hurt her! Yet, he did not even visit her once when she was in the hospital!
Even if they were only ordinary friends, should he not be guilty after he put her through the traumatic ordeal? Where was his guilt? He got Henry to take care of her, but was that all he could do for her?
She felt a dull pain in her abdomen. She pressed on it with her palm, but her voice shook because of the pain.
“If you feel even a little bit guilty about the incident, just give me five minutes of your time.”
The door on the second floor finally opened with a click. A tall figure walked to the stairs. They could not see him clearly, but they were familiar with his voice.
“Elena, if I owe you anything, I have asked Young Master Sharp to repay that on my behalf. If you think that it is still not enough, just tell me how much you want.”
Elena’s heart sank. She had never expected to hear that from him. That was the first thing he said to her after the horrible incident. She had so many questions for Michael, but cold sweat broke all over her body when she tried to lift her leg. She could not bear the extreme pain she felt in her knees. Since she could not hold herself up, she fell backward without any warning. Fortunately, Levi was quick enough to catch her.
Elena was not willing to give up so easily. She looked at the figure by the stairs and mumbled, “It is not about us. I have something important to tell you.”
“Are you trying to use the incident to threaten me?”
Michael’s voice was icy, he even sounded disgusted.
“I would not have been drugged if I didn’t have to save you. Technically, I owe you nothing.
“You used to be my woman, and I have always been generous with my women. So, just tell me how much you want. If you keep pestering me, don’t blame me for being mean.”
He turned and left. His words hurt Elena. However, she might only have that chance to speak with him.
“I don’t want your feelings. It’s about the old madam…”
“How dare you speak of my grandmother!”
Michael looked sullen as he bellowed angrily, “Do you really think that I believe you had nothing to do with her death? I just didn’t want to complicate things further. Like I said, I have always been generous to my women!
“Get out of here. I don’t want to see you again, and you are not allowed to mention my grandmother to me. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!”
He turned and walked away. The door closed with a bang as he slammed it shut behind him. He seemed furious. Elena was utterly stupefied. It was as if she had exhausted all her strength, and she slipped to the ground softly.
It turned out he believed that his grandmother’s death had something to do with her. He only defended her because she was his responsibility, and he did not want to complicate things. Elena learned that he had never trusted her.
