Caleb received a text message from Elena, and he hurried to the hospital.
“Does Layla and the rest of the team know about this?” Elena immediately asked when she saw him.
“They don’t know that you are here. We heard you were with Second Young Master Sharp, and he also sent us a message to say that you are well and needed to recuperate.”
Caleb had rushed to the hospital, and he was still panting when he got to the room.
A few moments later, he continued to say, “Luacs is very worried about you. You should contact them as soon as possible.”
Even though he did not know what had happened to Elena, his heart ached when he noticed the wound on her lips.
“What the hell happened? Can you tell us?”
“It’s nothing. I went out to the sea and got abducted. Second Young Master Sharp rescued me, and I was in recuperation after that.”
Elena did not want to explain the entire situation, so she made up some white lies as a cover.
Then she glanced at the door before she whispered, “What do you have for me?”
Caleb leaned over toward her and lowered his voice. “A positive familial bond!”
Elena closed her eyes. Her heart pounded, and her breathing labored. Even though Caleb already told her the result over the phone, she was still excited when he told her again in person.
Michael’s grandmother was her biological maternal grandmother! She was Elena’s maternal grandmother! How did Ava find out about it and even plotted to take her place? Before the accident, the old madam told her that Ava had confessed her lies and sins to her and that she would tell the old master and Michael about it. Everything became clear then, especially about what the old madam had wanted to say about their relationship.
Elena was not sure if the old master knew about the matter, but Eldest Young Master Williams definitely knew about it. However, he did not know the truth about everything. Ava had lied to both of them.
“How did she know?” How did Ava find out about the matter when Elena did not know about it? She even had the chance to intercept the information and feign her identity.
“The old Madam Williams have investigated your identity, and Ava got wind about it somehow and acted on it.”
Caleb walked to the door to ensure there was no one outside before he returned and leaned closer to Elena. The matter was so crucial that Caleb did not dare to speak in a loud voice.
Caleb cautiously said, “The old Madam Williams have personally told Eldest Young Master Williams. Otherwise, he would not have believed it so easily.”
Caleb doubted that Ava could convince Eldest Young Master Williams on her own, but if the old madam were the one who said it, then it would be a different story. Michael would always believe the old madam.
“As for Old Master Williams, to be honest, I think he would be more willing to trust Ava. So, it is pretty much useless for you to find him.”
Elena’s heart trembled; even Caleb could analyze the situation so clearly.
“Elena, I think the first thing you should do right now is to convince Eldest Young Master Williams.
“As long as he is on your side, things would surely fall into place.”
They had the genetic evaluation report with them, and even if the story was not enough to convince Michael, he could compare the old madam’s DNA in the hospital’s database with the one in the report. Everything would be clear then.
A family member could access their family member’s DNA information in the hospital’s system if they requested it. The evaluation report was a substantial piece of evidence in their favor.
“I know. I will find an opportunity to tell him about it.”
Even though they could no longer be together, Elena would not let Ava continue to deceive him. She took her mobile phone and stared at the number that had become somewhat unfamiliar. Eventually, she mustered enough courage to dial the number, but there was no answer. She called three times, but unfortunately, her calls were left unanswered.
She glanced at Caleb as her friend gazed at her phone. Elena gave it a few more thoughts and decided to dial another number.
A few moments later, Levi’s low timbre voice came from the other end of the phone. “Miss Elena, how can I help you?”
“I am looking for Eldest Young Master Williams. I have something very important to tell him.”
“I’m sorry, Miss Elena. Eldest Young Master is in a meeting. It is not convenient for him to answer the phone at this moment.”
Elena could hear a woman’s voice from the other end of the phone. She frowned when she realized that it was Ava. There was no way she could tell Levi about the matter over the phone.
So, Elena insisted. “Levi, can you help me to make an appointment with Eldest Young Master Williams, please? I really have something very important to tell him.”
“Okay, I’ll have a look at his schedule. Please wait a moment, Miss Elena.”
Levi was still kind toward her, but it seemed like things were not the same with Eldest Young Master Williams.
Ten seconds later, Levi picked up the phone again, and helplessly said, “Miss Elena, Eldest Young Master Williams’s schedule is fully occupied until next month.”
“I only need a few minutes of his time. Maybe you can get him to answer the call?”
Elena was frustrated. Had it become that hard for her to see Michael?
She felt as if she had returned to her previous life. She had had so many similar conversations with Levi in the five years that she spent with Michael. Even if she wanted to make an appointment to see him, she always had to make it a month in advance.
That was pretty normal with Eldest Young Master Williams, or had she not learned from her previous life? Elena thought things were better in her new life since she had the opportunity to live again.
Levi felt even more helpless about the situation, but he tried to explain. “Miss Elena, Eldest Young Master Williams has been very busy, especially after he took over Williams Corporation.”
“I know. I won’t bother him then.”
Elena hung up the phone, but she continued to stare at the screen in a daze.
As the screen went dark, Caleb asked, “Is there really no other way to do it?”
She did not need to tell Eldest Young Master Williams about the scam because of their strained relationship. After all, she was not the one who had been deceived.
However, Ava’s lies had led to the old madam’s death!
“I will think about it again.” On the one hand, Elena did not want Michael to continue to be fooled. On the other hand, she also wanted to find out the truth about the whole situation.
