Chapter 251 Each Step Drew Closer To The Edge Of Death

Elena was unprepared for the momentum of the slap, and she fell onto the ground from the impact. Snowy also rushed toward her as she prepared her hand for another slap.
However, Levi stepped in front of her, and shielded Elena behind him, “Sixth Young Miss…”
“You! Move!” Snowy would not listen to him and slap them both with all her might. She did not care that she had struck Levi instead, and Levi’s cheek had the same bright red handprints as Elena’s.
Levi did not fight back, but he did not give way either as he kept Elena behind him.
“Move! Didn’t you hear me? Scram!”
Snowy struck out one slap after another like she had gone crazy. Each of those blows landed on Levi’s face. However, Levi stood there quietly; he did not say a word, nor did he budge an inch.
The head butler had asked everyone to leave the medical as the old master wanted to be alone with the old madam. Therefore, even if the other Williams family members were upset, they had no choice but to leave.
Everyone’s gaze fell onto Elena as they exited the medical room.
“She pushed Grandmother into the lake, that b*tch!” Tabby rushed toward her. Since she could not push Levi away, she opted to kick him instead.
Levi continued to stand like a statue in front of Elena. He would not move unless Eldest Young Master Williams told him to do so.
Someone picked up a chair and smashed it onto Levi’s head. The chair broke into pieces, but Levi kept his stance in front of Elena.
Blood trickled down his forehead, but he did not move an inch. The old madam was gone, so Levi understood their grief. That was why he could not leave. If he had left, what would happen to Young Madam then? He was strong and could take a beating, but the young madam could not!
“Levi, move! This b*tch has to explain herself!”
“Levi, I won’t hold back!”
“Levi, Move!”
During the commotion, two slender figures emerged from the medical room. They were the only ones that the old master could tolerate next to the old madam’s body—Michael and Henry.
Michael walked toward Elena, and each step he took seemed to draw closer to the edge of death—heavy, strenuous, cold, and dreadful.
He stared at the girl behind Levi. She was out of her wits, and her eyes were cold, blank, and expressionless. Finally, he stood in front of Elena and locked his ice-cold gaze onto her facial features.
Levi wiped the blood off his face with his hands and finally moved to the side.
“Michael, this woman was the only person with your Grandmother when this happened! She must be the murderer!”
Rupert knew Michael would have to deal with Elena himself. No one else could touch her if he were unwilling to do it!
Everyone looked at Michael. Elena’s fate was in Eldest Young Master Williams’s hands!
Elena raised her head and looked into Michael’s cold and expressionless eyes.
Her lips trembled when she said, “No… It’s not me. The wheelchair rolled down toward the lake on its own. I tried to pull her back. I was trying to pull her back.” A tear trickled from the corner of her eyes.
She wanted to pull the old madam back, but she was helpless! She was helpless!
“It wasn’t me!” Elena wanted to kneel, but she did not have the strength to do so.
Everyone said that the old madam was dead, but she could not accept it. She could not even react to it. It was as if she was in a dream. She had only spoken to the old lady an hour ago, and she had smiled at her too. Then, she was dead.
Was she really dead? She had not seen the old madam’s body. Was she… really gone? She could not believe it. She would not believe it. How could a perfectly healthy person be gone just like that? How could that be?
Everyone heard a click. The door to the medical room opened, and a dispirited Old Master Williams appeared from within the room. He had looked calm and expressionless in front of them.
“Grandfather, this b*tch killed Grandmother!” Snowy exclaimed as she rushed toward her grandfather and tugged on his sleeve.
“I heard from the bodyguards that she was the only one there when it happened. Rupert could testify to that!”
The Old Master’s gaze fell on Elena, and then at Rupert.
Rupert pursed her lips. She did not know if she was sad or panicked. However, tears trickled down her cheeks all the same.
“Old Master, Old… Old Madam asked me to get some dessert for them. I was away for just a few moments, and this happened.”
Even though she did not serve the old madam for a very long time, she had always been kind to her. Rupert had liked her.
She whimpered and continued, “At that time, there was indeed only Young Madam…”
“She’s no longer our Young Madam! Eldest brother had already called off their engagement!” Snowy snapped.
Tabby also cried and yelled, “How could you let an outsider accompany Grandmother alone? You are also responsible for her death!”
Rupert was so terrified that she knelt and sobbed, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Old Master. It was my fault. I’m sorry…”
She should not have left the old madam. She should have stayed with the old madam no matter what! It was her fault. It was really her fault! Rupert continued to cry.
Old Master Williams stared at Rupert and asked plainly, “What did you see?”
“I saw…” Rupert tried to recall the scenario at the time, and she glanced at Elena.
“I saw Old Madam’s wheelchair as it rolled toward the lake. Young… Miss Garcia was running behind the wheelchair as if she was trying to pull the wheelchair back.”
“As if?” Snowy exclaimed in a high-pitched voice. “How could you say that? Don’t you have eyes? Did you not see clearly?”
“I… I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I was too far away. I could not see clearly…” Rupert sobbed.
“Then how are you sure that Elena was trying to pull her back, or pushing her toward the lake?” Rupert’s eyes widened at Tabby’s words. She looked at Elena, her face a little shocked.
“At the time… Miss Garcia was bent over with her hands on the wheelchair…” It was true. She could not tell if Elena tried to pull or push the wheelchair.
The old madam had always been kind to Elena, so Rupert assumed that Elena was a good person. However, could she have pushed the old madam into the lake?
Everyone saw the expression on Rupert’s face. Even if she said nothing, they could already guess it. Even Rupert was unsure if Elena had tried to save or kill her.
Sarah frowned and whispered, “But… if there was no external force to push it, how could the wheelchair roll into the lake by itself?”
