She was afraid that she was too beautiful and would cause chaos. That statement was obviously a joke. However, Caleb seemed to have come up with the most logical answer.
Elena had painted the freckles on her face to make herself look more ugly.
Elena dried her long hair and looked at Lois. “Aren’t we going to sign the contract? Prepare the company seal. We’ll leave immediately.”
“But, your face…” Layla walked toward her. She looked carefully at Elena’s face, and she realized that it was her natural face. She had not used any foundation, concealer, or anything else on it.
Layla went crazy!
“Why did you deliberately make yourself look so ugly? We would always feel awful whenever someone called you Little Miss Ugly!” Every time she heard someone call Elena that, she wanted to scold them.
However, Elena was not the prettiest girl on campus, so if she were to rebuke them, it would probably do more harm than good. Layla could only hold her breath and swallow her words!
However, things would be different from that day onward. No one in their Ning University was more beautiful than Elena. Not only in Ning University, even in Jiang University! Even Bentson’s Number One Enchantress could not hold a candle to her! Elena could finally walk with her head held up high!
“Did you not hear what Caleb said? I was afraid that I was too pretty,” Elena said.
“If you say that in public, you would be flogged to death!” One should not be too arrogant.
“However, with your looks, no one would rebut or deny it, no matter what you said.” Laughter ensued.
Lois was thrilled to death. She had little confidence in their meeting to sign the contract that day. However, since they had a beautiful girl with them, it would undoubtedly increase their chances of sealing the deal.
“I have everything packed and ready to go. The appointment is at 10 o’clock.”
Ten o’clock, and it was already a quarter past nine. They should have time to spare if they were to leave the office immediately.
Elena blow-dried her long hair and then simply let it hang loose behind her head. Then she grabbed her laptop bag and set off with her team immediately.
“I’ll drive.” Luacs grabbed his keys and went ahead of them.
As they left the office, they bumped into Rufus and Aryan, who were there because they heard the news about their contract.
“Elena, are you going to sign the contract? Can we come along? We’ll just stay outside.”
Sharp Corporation! Bentson’s second-largest conglomerate! Even though they were not as big as Mu Corporation, the gap between them was not too far apart either.
Elena and her friends felt excited as they headed toward Sharp Corporation’s headquarters that morning. They did not even need to enter the building. They were already ecstatic when they saw the building from afar.
“We’ll just wait in the car…”
Rufus stopped abruptly when he noticed the girl behind Lois. Who was that fairy? When did their studio hire such a beauty?
Rufus was stunned. “Is this… Is this our new co…colleague?”
Elena strode over to him and smacked him over his head.
“What the… Why did you hit me?” Even though it only hurt a little, Rufus’s face bore an expression of joy and intoxication. The beautiful girl’s movement was perfect and sexy, even if it was to hit him. Rufus felt so ecstatic!
“Elena?” Aryan squinted as he recognized the girl’s body movements when she hit Rufus. Then his eyes widened the very next second!
It really was Elena! Ning University’s Little Miss Ugly had transformed into a super beauty!
He calmed his nerves. Even though he never thought Elena was ugly, he would never associate the word ‘beautiful’ with her either. However, she had looked so stunning that it could almost shatter the earth.
“What? Elena?” Rufus looked like he had seen a ghost and backed away from her hurriedly.
How could that be Elena? That girl’s face looked… Well, on second thought, her appearance did look very similar to Elena.
Nevertheless, her complexion was so fair, so delicate, and so flawless.
Elena ignored him and turned toward Aryan, “You should come with me. They seemed to like you more.”
Aryan nodded. He had shot to fame during the campus comic competition. However, it did not mean that he would be able to do anything, but if it could help even a little, he would go with Elena.
“I’ll come too, Elena.”
“Me too.”
“Me three!”
In the end, Luacs had to drive his used minivan to fit all of them, and then they set off toward Sharp Corporation.
They had fantasized about the size of the conglomerate before they set-off. However, when they arrived at the building, it was way beyond what they had imagined!
The entire area housed many luxurious offices, and blocks, and blocks of other extravagant office buildings. There were posh offices as far as the eyes could see.
They were located in the heart of the city, where every inch of real estate would fetch sky-high prices. One could not even imagine the land value, let alone the office buildings that covered an area larger than any luxury residential housing estate.
Sharp Corporation was the second-largest conglomerate in Bentson, and it was not without its merit. No other company could compare to the sheer size of the corporation. If Sharp Corporation was already as big as that, then they could not even begin to imagine the size of Williams Corporation.
They had to sign in with security as they entered the premises and even needed a passcode to pass through. The security there was as strict and as tight as the royal palace.
No wonder Lois’s contact had texted her after their conversation had ended. Lois just realized that it was the passcode. The security let them in immediately after they scanned the passcode.
Sharp Corporation was highly organized and efficient, indeed!
“Do you think they’d let us in without a passcode if we were driving a luxury car?” Lois jokingly asked.
“You may try it if you please.” Elena was buried in the electronic copy of the contract that Sharp Corporation had sent them, so she was too busy to bother with her. She had already read through the agreement, but she wanted to read it a second time.
In short, Sharp Corporation would invest 300 million dollars in developing a comic and animation app, and they would be the company to manage it. September Studio would get a 10 percent share of that.
“Ten percent!” Layla exclaimed as money symbols flashed in her eyes. She counted her fingers and almost screamed!
“Ten percent is equivalent to our studio having 30 million dollars in assets right off the bat!”
Thirty million dollars! That was utterly beyond everyone’s expectations.
Were Sharp Corporation made of money? Was that not too extravagant?
“There are terms and conditions, of course,” Elena continued to read the contract on her phone.
After a while, she said, “The agreement stipulates that within one year, the losses must be confined to 30 percent, and all funds had to be fully utilized.”
All funds had to be fully utilized, which meant that the 30 million dollars… Apart from liquid reserves, they would have to spend all of that amount!
The sheer amount shocked everyone in the car. They had not invested in anything remotely close to that amount. Even Elena had only spent a few hundred thousand dollars on the studio.
Thirty million dollars—they could not fathom it; it was all too terrifying.
“What… What if we can’t do it?” Layla whispered.
Except for Luacs, who was driving, everyone else immediately looked at Elena.
Their captain looked at her phone again.
It took her a few moments before she could say, “Not only will the shares be recovered, but within the next three years, all of the staff will be free to work for them in their spare time.”
Then, Elena explained, “Not only would they withdraw the shares, we would have to work for them for free for the next three years.”
