Chapter 196 To Prove That He Was A Man

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

Henry glared at her coldly. “I refuse to eat it!”
Elena raised an eyebrow in disdain. “Are you a man?”
“I’m a man, but I still refuse to eat.”
“You’re not a man if you don’t eat it.”
“You—uh!”
She had stuffed that piece of meat into his mouth!
Henry’s eyes widened in anger. He was so furious that he could almost rip the girl’s head off.
Yet, the meat…
He gently chewed it, and then it chewed again before he finally swallowed it.
How was it not spicy?
“Delicious, right?” Elena raised her eyebrows and smiled confidently.
The meat was tender and not overcooked. The condiment that she paired it with tasted delicious too. It would surely satisfy that brat’s taste buds.
The man was dumbstruck. It was delicious, but he would never admit it.
Elena dunked another piece of meat into the soup and then put it in his bowl, “Hurry up and eat. It gets stale when it’s cold.”
The food would be stale when it was cold? That was the first time he had heard anything like that.
However, the piece of meat that was shoved into his mouth was smooth and tender, and the temperature was just right. It was quite tasty.
He had not eaten lunch anyway, and he was quite hungry.
He picked up the chopsticks, clamped the meat slice, and delivered it to his mouth.
“Try it… What do you think?”
“Not bad.” Who knew what something that ugly could be so delicious!
He used chopsticks to poke around the contents of a dish. He frowned and asked, “What’s this?”
“Shrimp paste. Do you want to try it?” Before he could respond, Elena had lifted the plate of shrimp paste and slipped them into the pot one by one.
“What about this? What’s that?” It looked pretty good.
“These are pork balls. Don’t tell me you have not eaten these before? Get out of here!”
“These are peasant’s food. So what if I have not tasted them?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. You’re a young master born with a golden spoon in his mouth. It’s great to be a rich person.”
Henry was too lazy to entertain her, and so he picked up another piece of food. “What’s this?”
“Don’t be like a curious baby. You know nothing, and so, it shows that you are a low-class person too.”
“Elena!”
“It’s sea cabbage, and it’s delicious. I’ll get it for you, so don’t be angry.”
“Hmph!”
The two of them enjoyed the food in merriment.
The fascinating thing about the spicy hot pot was that it would make you completely forget about where and who you are, and even the people around you.
The other two people across the table stared at the two heads that had huddled together. It was as if they were in a world of their own.
Ava was obviously thrilled. Elena had flirted with another man in front of Eldest Young Master Williams. Was she not courting death?
However, she could not read Michael’s mind.
He looked like he always did. He did not have any expression on his face at all.
He held a pair of chopsticks in his hand and yet he did not move. He looked furious and not furious at the same time!
Ava decided to tread cautiously. She wanted to please him and not cross him.
“Michael, why don’t I order something else for you…”
“This restaurant doesn’t provide cooked dishes,” Elena said as she held back a smile.
She looked at the two of them and said, “If you are not used to eating here, you could just…”
Michael’s chopsticks dove into the pot. He didn’t know what meat he had grabbed, but he just shoved it straight into his mouth.
“It’s scalding hot!” Elena’s warning came a little too late.
Michael’s forehead creased, but he swallowed the meat all the same.
Elena quickly requested the waiter to bring them a bottle of chilled green tea.
He had most likely scalded his tongue, but he was Eldest Young Master Williams. He would not make a sound even if he were in pain.
“Drink this, and you’ll feel much better.” She uncapped the bottle of green tea and placed it in front of Michael.
“I feel just fine.” Michael glanced at the bottle.
Despite that, he still picked it up and guzzled half of the bottle in one go.
“These fresh beef slices are perfect. Do you want to try some?”
Elena put half a plate of beef into the pot as well as the remaining shrimp paste.
“Second Sister, you should also try it too.” She stood up and personally served the food to them.
The two of them acted as if there was no disagreement between them. They looked like normal sisters who got along very well with each other.
Michael’s eyes had no expressions in them, even though he thought that Elena’s attitude toward Ava was a little odd. However, he cared for the women’s petty arguments anyway.
When he saw that Elena and Henry had continued to eat and drink, he picked up his chopsticks and joined them as well.
Ava was disgusted when she saw the contents of her bowl.
How could such a high-class person partake in such low-class food?
Nevertheless, even Eldest Young Master Williams has started to eat…
Ava had no choice but to pick up her chopsticks and eat in small bites.
She did not want to eat anymore, but as soon as she finished the food in her bowl, Elena immediately gave her more food.
“This is also very good; it’s kelp. It’s not really that delicious if it’s not in a hot pot, though. You probably won’t have the opportunity to taste something like this again.”
Elena smiled at her. She had obviously faked her attitude with her.
Ava frowned. She did not expect the b*tch to have such excellent acting skills.
Was she not always arrogant? Why did she need to act otherwise?
What happened to her previous arrogance? That b*tch must have learned to be a hypocrite to please Eldest Young Master Williams and her new lover.
“Okay, that’s enough, Elena. I have a small appetite and can’t eat that much.”
Ava thought she would get sick when she looked at the slithery and ugly kelp in her bowl.
The food she ate was usually colorful and fragrant. What the hell was that?
“It’s alright, Second Sister. We’re a family. There’s no need to act during meal times. You have to eat more, though.”
Elena smiled and gave her another piece of fish meat.
“Is it possible to feed a normal human being with the portion that you just ate? It’s not even enough to feed kittens.
“You don’t have to devour food in secret, just eat to your heart’s content right here.”
Ava wanted to fling the contents of the bowl at her sister as hard as she could.
That b*tch had turned around and called her a hypocrite!
That was her culture and her upbringing!
So what if she did eat in secret? The image of a woman consuming food was inherently unsightly. How could one act so presumptuous in front of men?
Only an uncultured and vulgar girl like Elena would not care about her outward image.
Ava wanted to flip out, but she was a debutante, a lady, a wealthy heiress.
She would also be the wealthiest young madam in all of Bentson soon.
She could not do something as crass as that.
Elena must have also been aware of her ‘cultivation’ in front of her men. Why else did she serve them so enthusiastically?
As for the two men, they had eaten the spicy food just to prove their manhood.
In the middle of lunch, Elena fished out her phone to check the time and immediately smiled at Henry.
“Time’s up. Bye.”
She set her chopsticks down and wiped her mouth with a napkin. She smiled at Michael and Ava, then… she left.
Her time was up?? Why did she leave so abruptly?
There was still an hour before the afternoon competition. What was the rush?
Only Henry knew what she meant when she said ‘time’s up.’
His last two hours were up. That woman was not willing to stay with him for even a second more!
