Elena never thought that Ava, who was usually prim and proper, would ask such a filthy question. Even though Elena knew that Ava was a hypocrite, she was also a prude. Why would she ask such embarrassing questions? They sounded so disgusting.
“Well? Don’t you want to tell me? Otherwise, you won’t know the real reason your mom left our Garcia family.”
Ava knew that Elena was not a flight risk. She could tell that the girl had taken the bait.
Elena took a deep breath, closed her eyes in contempt before she answered blankly. “Yes, we’ve done it before; more than once. He had amazing stamina and almost killed me.”
“Shameless!” Ava’s face sank immediately. She was so annoyed that she wanted to pick up the cup and throw the water onto Elena’s face.
“Second Young Miss Garcia, are you not the shameless one for asking me these questions?”
Elena still looked at her with a blank expression. After she suppressed the shyness in her, she could better control her emotions. Ava’s provocation could no longer provoke her.
“I have answered your questions. Why did my mother leave the Garcia family? Can you tell me now?”
“So, Henry did not tell you?”
Ava had already calmed down when the waiter brought their steaks to them. She had wanted to humiliate the girl, but Elena had managed to trigger her rage with only a few sentences. After the waiter left their table, Ava played with the ring on her finger as she smirked at Elena.
“My mother was the one who drove her away.”
Ava was not only unapologetic, but she also wore a devilish smile, as if she was the winner in that conversation.
Elena remained silent. Even if she had almost made a hole in her palm with her nails, she acted indifferently.
“Really?” Elena smiled and looked down to cut her steak. “So, why did you invite me to lunch today?”
“Aren’t you upset? My mother forced your mother to leave you. Don’t you feel bad about her difficult life out there?”
“Would you prefer it if I was in distress?”
Since they had ordered the food, Elena might as well eat it. Besides, it was great that she could save up on a meal. She knew that Ava asked her out because she wanted to humiliate her. She was surprised that her sister had not seen through her yet.
“Well, if you don’t want to talk about your mother, then, let’s change the subject.”
Ava suddenly reached out and passed the mushroom sauce to Elena.
“The mushroom sauce here is very famous. It tastes so good; you should try it.”
Before Elena could say anything, Ava had poured the mushroom sauce onto Elena’s steak. As she put the container down, she suddenly waved her hand. She acted as if it was an accident and pressed down hard on the back of Elena’s hand. Elena grimaced as she immediately withdrew her hand.
“Sorry, I was a little dizzy,” Ava murmured.
Ava could feel the resentment and tension that radiated from Elena. That bloody girl had refused to let Ava get close to her. She had managed to dodge her! Ava assumed that it would be effortless to take a blood sample from Elena. She thought that she could just talk to her and distract her. Then she would pretend to accidentally touch and pierce her with the fine needle on her ring. To her surprise, she did not even get a chance to get close to Elena at all. She did not want to arouse any suspicion, so she started to eat her steak and made small talk with Elena.
“I heard that our eldest sister would wrap up her project overseas and come back early,” she said.
Elena froze for a moment. The eldest sister that she remembered from her past life had always been indifferent to her. She knew that it was not her sister’s fault. Ava had framed her in front of her eldest sister, and she even smeared her sister’s name in front of Henry.
Her eldest sister was not Grace’s daughter, so she and Ava had always targeted her too. As for Elena, she used to be her accomplice in her past life. Elena remembered that her eldest sister had been kind to her then. However, she was blinded by Ava’s lies and could not distinguish right from wrong. That was why Eldest Young Miss Garcia had alienated Elena later on in their lives.
Ava continued to say, “You’ve never gotten along with our older sister. When she comes back this time, try not to make her angry again.”
“Eldest Sister and I will get along well without your provocation.”
Elena ate her steak quietly as if she was not interested in any topic that Ava had brought up. She only wanted to finish her food quickly so that she could leave. If she did not have to get Elena’s blood sample, Ava would have left immediately too.
“Anyway, when Eldest Sister comes back, you should try to get along with her.”
Ava could not find a topic that could divert Elena’s attention. That bloody girl was not interested in anything!
“I’ll go and get some drinks.” Ava stood up.
Elena felt that something was amiss. Why did she have to go to the bar to get a drink? Ava would usually just order from the waiter. Why would she go to the bar on her own? That was impossible. What was she plotting?
Elena was surprised when Ava almost dropped onto her when she passed by her seat. She seemed to have sprained her ankle. However, as she was already on high alert, Elena managed to evade her sister and jumped up from the other side of her chair.
As she glared at Ava, who had fallen onto her chair, Elena scoffed sternly, “Ava, what the hell are you doing?”
What did the sneaky woman try to do in public? It was as if she had become so much more daring and bolder!
“Deceitful!” As she spat that word, Elena walked out of the door without a single backward glance.
“Elena, wait!” Ava got anxious and immediately chased after her.
The waiter hurried toward her table and stopped her. “Miss, you… you haven’t paid for the food yet.”
“Do I look like I can’t afford it?”
That was the first time that a waiter had stopped Ava. Were they afraid that she would dine and dash? After she threw a couple of notes at the waiter, Ava tore out the door. However, the street was crowded, and so she had lost sight of Elena.
Damn it! Did she not think that it would be easy to get Elena’s blood sample? How could she fail at such a simple task? It was also strange that Elena had been so cautious against her! It should have been easy for her to get Elena’s blood with her ring when she fell on her. However, she had failed miserably!
Could Elena have seen through her? How would she explain it to the man who had ordered her to get Elena’s blood?
Elena had not actually discovered anything, but she could tell that Ava had only ill intentions toward her. She was puzzled too. She thought that even if Ava had been desperate, she would not have tried anything in public. It was not like her to act so rashly. What the hell had she wanted with her?
