Elena figured that she had offended Eldest Young Master Williams again, but she did not know what she had said wrong. The man’s heart was like a needle under the sea. He was so hard to read that there was no use to ponder about it.
After she unpacked her things, she put her laptop on the coffee table before she sat on the floor to get a headstart on her work.
The man immediately frowned. “Do you have to look so miserable?”
“Huh?” Elena looked up at him. Miserable? No, she was not pitiful at all.
“Come here.”
“But I have work to do…”
“I said, come here.” Michael was a little impatient, and he stared at her irritably. “Bring your laptop.”
Elena was in a daze, but still, she took her laptop and walked toward him obediently.
“Sit here.” Michael pointed to the seat next to him.
Then, he dialed a number on the phone. A few moments later, a maid was at the room with a matching chair for the desk.
It seemed like they would be working together side by side in the future. What did she do to deserve such honor to work alongside Eldest Young Master Williams?
“What’s wrong? Don’t you like this chair?” When he realized that she was reluctant to take a seat, Michael picked up the phone again.
“No!” Elena immediately interrupted him.
What had that got to do with the chair? She was only thinking about how he seemed enthusiastic to cultivate a tacit understanding with her. He appeared quite different than his usual self too. Whenever she was in his room, he was always hard at work at the table. However, his attention was on her as she unpacked her things. Even when she put the soft toy on the bed, it had attracted his attention for a little while. She thought he had disapproved of such a childish item on his bed, though she decided to ignore him. She only needed some space on the bed, and it was not like she had caused him any trouble for that.
“Why won’t you sit in it if you do not dislike it?” The man’s eyebrows furrowed.
“Sure, I’ll sit.” Elena dragged herself into the seat, but she still could not comprehend his thoughts.
She did not sit too far from him, but she subconsciously moved the chair a little bit further to the other end.
He got upset the very next second. “Do not move!”
Elena was taken aback. Her hand remained on the chair as she turned her head to meet his gaze. “Eldest Young Master Williams…”
“Come here.” Why did she want to keep her distance from him? Was he that horrible?
Elena bit the bullet and moved the chair slightly toward him.
However, he was not impressed. “Come nearer.”
She pouted, but she obeyed him. Eventually, she was only an arm’s distance away from him. It looked like Michael was finally satisfied with that.
When he noticed that she was rigid, he mumbled, “Do your own thing. Don’t worry about me.”
She always seemed comfortable and relaxed whenever she worked with other people. However, she was always cautious around him! The glare he shot at her made Elena even more puzzled. When she opened her notebook, his face scrunched in disgust when he noticed the machine in her hand.
“Is that an antic?” He picked up the notebook, and when he took a closer look at its bottom, he looked even more appalled.
“What can these specifications do? It’ll be too slow even to browse the Internet.”
“Eldest Young Master, if the internet speed is too slow, then you should get someone to check the WiFi connection in this mansion.”
“The processor is running at turtle speed, does it not affect the background tasks?”
There was absolutely no problem with the WiFi network at his mansion. Elena bit her lip painfully, but she was unwilling to submit. She knew that he was the alpha male and that he only used the best things in the world. However, what was wrong with her laptop? She had only just bought it three years ago. She was happy with it, so why was it not good enough? Why would he condemn it when he was not even the person to use it?
Michael, however, had picked up his mobile phone and issued an order. “Bring a new laptop for the young madam.”
“Eldest Young Master Williams, I don’t need…”
“Hmm?”
“It’s okay.” He stared at her as if he wanted to know why she would defy him. Did he think that he could do whatever he wanted because he had bigger eyes?’Stare at me again! Just keep staring at me… I will wisely obey…’
She was helpless. She looked at the new laptop that Levi had brought into the room, and her temper vanished like smoke in the wind. The laptop…
“Oh my God, this one must have cost more than a hundred thousand dollars!” It was a model that she had only seen in magazines.
“You don’t like it?” It was a sudden request, and that was the only one available for her.
Michael said, “Use that for now. I’ll take you to City L this weekend to pick something you like.”
“No, no, no! This will do! This one is good enough!”
Why did he think that she did not like it? She had never even used such a high-end laptop in her life!
“Well, do I have to pay you back for this?” She did not have that much money.
Michael’s eyes sank, and Elena immediately knew that she said something wrong.
Elena quickly cackled. “Eldest Young Master Williams is rich. Of course, you don’t need me to pay you back!”
She switched on the new laptop excitedly and installed the software that she needed. Then, she started to copy all her files to the new laptop. When she put both laptops side by side, she realized that her old one was ugly with its bulky and old-fashioned design. The new one was the epitome of Eldest Young Master Williams; it looked noble and elegant.
‘Don’t worry. Even if you’re ugly, I will not abandon you.’
It took about half an hour to transfer all her files. Elena looked at her old laptop pitifully before she put it away. When she was done, she sat back down on the chair. However, she did not expect to look into the man’s intense and bewitching eyes the moment she looked up.
“Eldest Young Master Williams, what’s the matter?” Why did he keep staring at her like that? What was going on with Eldest Young Master Williams that night? Had he been watching her for the past half an hour?
“Nothing. Just do your thing.”
He did keep his eyes on her for that period. He wanted to see what was on her laptop.
However, he saw nothing except for some comic materials. There was also only work stuff on his laptop, was it not? At least that was something an 18-year-old and a 27-year-old had in common.
Eldest Young Master Williams’s mind was still trapped on the issue of their nine-year age gap. On the other hand, Elena had started working on her laptop. When she began to write, ideas and inspiration flowed unstemmed as she plunged into the settings of the storyline.
One might say that a girl in focus would look particularly beautiful. At that moment, she looked captivating, even though she had freckles on her face. The things she wrote, however…
‘If she was so angry, why did she not tell her boyfriend what was in her mind? Resorting to not speaking with each other is so naive.’
‘They fought because of a love letter? These kids had nothing better to do? Is that guy even a man?’
‘Truth or dare? Who plays such a boring game these days?’
In the end, he took her mouse and scrolled through the script that she had written.
“Since he was a wealthy young master, why didn’t he just buy flowers for his girlfriend? Why did he have to go to the mountain to pick the flowers and, subsequently, caused injuries to the female lead? He must be sick in the head.”
“Entrapping and making false claims are just too low.”
She was disgruntled at his hail of wry comments, but the man was unfazed. He kept browsing the scripts and made the occasional sarcastic remarks.
“The female lead’s mother had been seriously ill, and yet she refused monetary help from the male lead and insisted on making her own money. Was she not afraid of delaying her mother’s treatment?
“She faced dangers but did not want to ask for help from him? Why so stubborn? Look at that! Things had finally gone from bad to worse in the end, had it not?”
“…” Elena remained silent as she swallowed all the feedback with great difficulty.
Michael frowned as he kept reading. “Both of the leads were single, and yet all they did was hold hands and chat all night long? That makes no sense…”
“Young Master Williams, are you done?”
What was wrong with holding hands and chatting all night when they were 18 years old? Must they do something between the sheets?
She could not hold her silent any longer, so she said, “Do you think that everyone else is like you, thinking about doing that thing all day long? Old rascal!”
