Elena and Luacs did go to a hotel.
However, both of them were merely the first people who had entered the building. Caleb and Layla arrived a few moments later.
There was nothing about it that would arouse the suspicions of a clandestine meeting.
“Why did the landlord decide to take back your room all of a sudden? He did not give you any notice too. This is unacceptable!”
Layla grumbled while she packed.
“I heard that the landlord had something to do with the Hill family. The whole fiasco with Mia had probably led to this. It’s not a big deal if they don’t want to rent us the room anymore.”
Caleb did not think much of it. The landlord had returned the deposit to them anyway and even chose not to collect a month’s rent.
If they were to take all that into account, they were the ones who had benefited.
However, they would have to stay in a hotel.
Caleb looked at the surroundings and then at Elena. He felt a little uncomfortable.
“Ranran, isn’t this hotel expensive? How much does it cost for a night’s stay?”
“More than five hundred.”
“More than five hundred dollars?!” Caleb shrieked. “Why don’t we stay in a cheaper one? There are many small hotels near the school that cost about one to two hundred for one night.”
“Luacs is injured. How do you expect him to live in such poor conditions? What if he gets a bacterial infection?”
“I’m fine.” Luacs smiled and tried to downplay this injury. “It’s just a minor injury.”
“How can it be a minor injury? I almost saw your bones.”
When Layla remembered how deep the knife wound had been, she shivered in fear!
If that blade had been wielded more harshly, would Luacs still be able to keep his arm?
The mere thought of it was scary enough!
“I haven’t thanked you properly.” Elena looked at Luacs. She was still worried, just like Layla had been.
“No thanks necessary.” Luacs hated it whenever she thanked him.
He changed the subject. “When you went back last night… Did Eldest Young Master Williams make things difficult for you?”
When she heard those words, Elena’s eyes dimmed with a touch of briefly-present gloominess.
Nevertheless, she smiled and casually said, “My relationship with Eldest Young Master Williams can’t even be considered as ordinary friends. What you know and could see is simply a family-arranged marriage.”
“So, there is no issue of him making things difficult for me. When we got back, he ignored me and fell asleep by himself.”
Luacs’s thin lips moved slightly, but he remained silent.
The way Eldest Young Master Williams treated her was not as simple as an arranged marriage.
When he was there to rescue her the night before, he had looked really relieved when he realized that she was okay.
For a person like Eldest Young Master Williams-who never revealed his emotions-to show his relief so clearly, it was apparent that he had been very anxious before he saw Elena.
It was wrong to say that Eldest Young Master Williams did not care about her. She simply failed to notice his concern.
“Well, you should recuperate here today. Caleb and I will go find you your new home.”
Layla pushed Elena. “There’s no class in the afternoon. Elena, remember to come back here and take care of Luacs after you are done with your morning classes.”
“No problem.” Elena gave her an OK gesture.
Layla and Caleb took their purse and wallet and did not waste any more time. They left the hotel immediately and went in search of a house for Luacs.
Elena looked at the time on her phone. It was already half-past eight.
The first lesson had already begun, and she could only catch up with the second lesson if she went back immediately.
“Luacs …”
“Go to your classes. I’m a little sleepy too. I’d like to rest for a while.”
“Okay, then. Rest well and don’t go out by yourself. Wait for me to finish my classes, and I’ll buy you lunch on the way here.”
When he nodded, Elena grabbed her bag and hurried back to her classes.
Luacs looked at the door with a profound gaze.
The girl must have had a hard time the night before, but she chose not to say anything in front of them.
She seemed to have undergone a bit of change recently; she was more quiet, calm, and sensible.
It was as if she had grown up.
However, she was only eighteen years old.
In the past, he had always pitied her.
When he looked at her then, a gamut of strange emotions would surface at random from within him.
However, he had no intention to overthink those rogue emotions.
Things had been right the way they were.
He could hear movements outside the door, and it suddenly swung open.
Luacs laughed and said, “She’s still the same old forgetful…”
He did not finish his sentence when he realized that the person who entered the room was not Elena.
Levi had opened the door and made way deferentially. Then Michael walked into the room with a frosty expression.
It was Luacs’s first time to interact so closely with Michael.
Even though they had fought side-by-side the night before, he did not get a good look at the eldest young master because it had been very dark.
At first glance, even Luacs would admit that there was probably no one in the entire Bentson who could rival Eldest Young Master Williams’s physique.
No wonder Elena would look at him with a touch of admiration in her eyes.
Eldest Young Master Williams’s appearance and charisma could really drive women insane.
Luacs was not a woman, however. Even in the face of an outstanding character like Eldest Young Master Williams, Luacs would only have a tiny speck of reverence toward him.
Amazement, and perhaps even admiration, did not exist at all.
Luacs sat on the bed and looked coldly at the two men.
Levi carried a chair for the eldest young master, but Michael only stood by the chair. It did not look as if he intended to take a seat.
“Did Eldest Young Master Williams come here to ask me something?” Time was a precious commodity for a person like Eldest Young Master Williams.
He would not show up in person unless it was an important matter.
Luacs sneered, “Did someone report to Eldest Young Master Williams that Elenan and I were doing inappropriate things in a hotel?”
The night before, he had noticed the low-key Maybach at the side of the road near the food stalls.
Michael had been spying on Elena from within the car. The others were unaware of it, but Luacs had seen it clearly.
“No matter what my woman wants to do, it’ll never be your turn to do it with her.”
Michael remarked coldly. There was no superfluous expression on his iceberg-like handsome face.
A dark gloominess was present in Luacs’s eyes. The way he looked at Michael was also shrouded in a complex plethora of indecipherable emotion.
After a two-second staring contest, he said, “Elena had saved me before. I won’t hesitate to die for her if necessary.”
Luacs sat on the bed while Eldest Young Master Williams stood beside the chair. The aura of those two made Levi feel puny and insignificant.
He could hardly believe that a twenty-year-old boy could rival the eldest young master’s aura.
Who was the boy?
“I won’t do anything to hurt her, and I won’t make life difficult for her too.”
Luacs shot a penetrative gaze into Michael’s eyes. “Even if I were to want something from her, I’ll make sure to do it openly.”
His message was conveyed loud and clear-affairs and clandestine relationships did not exist in his vocabulary at all.
He would only make his move if Elena left Michael.
“It’s best that you give up as soon as possible.”
Luacs’s chance would never come!
Michael scoffed coldly, turned around, and left the room.
Levi looked at Luacs and said, “My little friend…”
Luacs looked at Levi with a sharp, cold gaze, and it forced the latter to cough and changed his way of addressing the boy. “Mr. Williams, the culprits from yesterday have been apprehended. Eldest Young Master Williams would like to invite you to come with us.”
