Chapter 90 Don’t You Need to be Responsible?

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

Ryan was the one who had knocked on the door. He was there with a medical trolley that was furnished with various medical equipment and medication, and he was shocked when he saw the wound on Michael’s arm. He exclaimed in disbelief, “Eldest Young Master, hasn’t the bleeding stopped?”
Michael turned at Elena with a look that sent her heart racing. She avoided his eyes; she looked contrite and repentant. Why did that guy have to look at her like that? Was he doing it on purpose to let Ryan know that she was the one that made his wound bled so much?
Ryan shifted his eyes between the young madam and the eldest young master. Finally, his gaze fixed on the wound on Michael. He let out a sigh in dismay. “Young Madam, Eldest Young Master is injured. You have to avoid any fight, even if there is a conflict between both of you.”
Only the young madam would dare to fight with the eldest young master. What would have happened if it was another person? Then again, it was illogical that Eldest Young Master would lose to Young Madam in a duel. How did she injure him when he was meant to have the upper hand?
A bashful blush covered Elena’s face. Maybe Ryan had purposely referred to their intimacy session as a fight. Could he really not figure that out, or was he trying to make her feel better?
Indeed, it sounded more refined to say that the wound had split open during a fight than an accident during an intimacy session.
She replied hastily to avoid her uneasiness, “He is bleeding again, please fix him up.”
“Very well.” Ryan took some antiseptic and medication and was about to sit down at the edge of the bed.
None of them expected the man on the bed would say in a menacing tone, “The one who did it should take up the responsibility.” His eyes were glued onto Elena.
Elena bit her lips and accepted the antiseptic from Ryan with her head bowed. When she looked up, she could not help but glare at Michael. “It was an accident.” Why did he make it sound so severe? Others might think that she had beat him up.
“Don’t you need to take the responsibility after you hurt me?” Michael kept a straight face, which made it hard for people to understand his state of mind.
“I…”
“Are you implying that I didn’t get this injury from our fight, but it was from our intimate moment together?”
“You…” Elena glowered at him!
That bastard had said that on purpose. Did he want to force her to admit that she had hurt him accidentally when they had intimate contact? She knew that the eldest young master was a worldly man, but she had underestimated his deviousness!
She took in a slow, deep breath and sat down at the edge of the bed. As she kept her eyes on the ghastly wound on his arm, she felt a little sorry for him even though she was frustrated at his behavior. No, maybe it was more than a little sorry.
“Young Madam, you should disinfect the wound first. Beware, it might sting a little, Eldest Young Master Williams.” Ryan could only give them instructions from the side since Eldest Young Master Williams did not allow him to venture closer to them.
“Umm…” Elena moved as softly as she possibly could because she was afraid that he might be in pain. She gently blew on his wound whenever he winced. She immediately paused and blew cautiously whenever she saw pain through his pinched face. Her lips were so close to his arm that she felt she could almost kiss him. Her manifestation of concern was vastly different from her indifference toward him for the last two days.
When he noticed that, Michael knew that he should knit his eyebrows as often as he could. He did it repeatedly whenever the cotton bud touched the lesion. Finally, even Ryan could not stand his behavior. Since when had Eldest Young Master Williams become so faint-hearted? Was he not the same person who would let the doctor stitch his wounds without any drugs?
It was apparent he was putting a show in front of the young madam so that her heart would ache for him. Ryan sighed and noted that young ladies were so easy to fool.
“Are you okay? Is it painful?” Michael was willing to put a bandage on his wound because of Elena. After much difficulty, they were done with treating the cut. She noticed that his expression was calm as always, but he had furrowed his eyebrows all the time. Even if the wound did bother him much, Elena’s heart still ached for him. She had insensibly put him into that situation.
“Young Madam, Eldest Young Master Williams was not too badly injured, all he needs to do now is to rest for two…” As he sensed a sharp gaze that seemed to have swallowed him whole, Ryan quickly changed his comment. “Even though it was not a deep cut, it is best to rest well.” He added, “It’s even better if someone could take care of him; he might have trouble eating by himself these few days.”
Oh gosh! The light injury was exaggerated beyond reason; it was almost like he was handicapped. Then again, Ryan had felt a sense of relief after he finished his sentence. It seemed like Eldest Young Master Williams was rather pleased with the plot.
“Young Madam, the cut is still healing, so Eldest Young Master might have a fever tonight.” Of course, he knew that it was probably not the case for such a burly man like Eldest Young Master Williams, but he might as well improve the scheme as per Michael’s wish. Ryan had dreamed about a fat bonus if the eldest young master was satisfied with his performance. He was stoked about the idea!
“Young Madam, please take care of Eldest Young Master tonight.”
“Aren’t you staying back to take care of him?” Elena was worried sick, but she was not a qualified doctor. She would be more rest assured with Ryan around.
“Err…” Ryan felt another dangerous stare from Eldest Young Master Williams. He shifted uncomfortably and straightened himself before he declared, “Young Madam, I have an appointment tonight. I’m sorry that I can’t be here then!” Then, he quickly packed his stuff and left. He gave Elena some medication meant for Eldest Young Master Williams if he were to develop any sign of fever.
“What are you doing with an appointment so late at night!” Elena growled at the door when she saw Ryan off. Why did he not be frank and say that he refused to stay up late for Eldest Young Master Williams? Who would believe that he had an appointment at one in the morning!
She spun around and noticed that the man was still leaning against the head of the bed as he continued to stare at her. There were only two of them in the room, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward. Of course, that was the case for Elena. Eldest Young Master Williams’s cool dispassionate looked like he was never troubled by awkwardness in his life.
“Well,” Elena said after a moment of hesitation, “it’s late, you should sleep.” He remained silent, and his eyes were still fixed on her. His focused stare made her very uncomfortable, especially when she was reminded of herself in his embrace. She wanted to go back to her room, but he needed her then.
“You should sleep early, Eldest Young Master Williams. You have work tomorrow.” She also had to go to school the next day. Elena went toward his bed to arrange the duvet for him. Finally, Michael laid on his back, and she pulled the blanket over him.
“Sleep well. I’ll be here.” She signaled at the sofa in the room. It was large enough for her to sleep on it.
However, Michael replied, “I have a big bed.”
“Huh?” She tilted her head to look at him, and her face grew red instantly. Did Michael just invite her to sleep on his bed? She remembered that he had never allowed her into his room in her past life. Why did he want her in his bed in her new life then? However, they would have to sleep together. That seemed wrong, somehow.
“I just don’t want to be called a bully.” Michael turned his back toward her. “Sleep. Don’t make me repeat myself.”
