Chapter 84 Clearly Out to Kill Them

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

Elena itched to shoot back a bossy remark, ‘Well, I don’t want to go home!’
In the end, she said, “The school had some activities today. It’ll be late, so I won’t be back tonight, and I still have classes tomorrow.”
After she hung up the phone, Layla winked at her.
“What do you mean by school activity? You’re obviously hanging out with men! You’re finished! If Eldest Young Master Williams knew about us, he’d skin you alive.”
Caleb and Luacs were both men, and rather handsome men-or more accurately, boys-at that.
She had lied about the school activities, and to put it simply, that was concealment and deception!
“You have such a big mouth. Would you like to call Eldest Young Master Williams and tell him that I’m lying to him?”
Elena glared at Layla as she handed her mobile phone to her, “Come on, you have the guts to do it, right? Tell him, and maybe he’ll give you some money for snitching on me.”
Layla looked at the mobile phone and retracted her neck.
“No, thanks. Your man is scary. I don’t want to have anything to do with him!”
Even though a man like Eldest Young Master Williams was insanely handsome, Layla would only dare to fantasize about him from afar.
His bone-chilling coldness and inherent dominance could instantly wipe out anyone who got near to him.
Only a person as brash as Elena dared to be his fiancée.
Layla would be too afraid to approach him. She would feel immense pressure if she were to stand close to him.
“Well, don’t talk so much nonsense then if you don’t dare act on it!”
Elena put away her mobile phone. They had been cleaning the office for the entire day, and she was so tired that she could not even sit up straight.
“My precious Luacs, can you be a dear and lend me your shoulders.”
Mu Luacs pulled his chair toward her and allowed her to lean on him.
They had interacted with each other for so long that no one would bat an eye on such a request. However, a man who sat in a car nearby looked very unhappy.
There were school activities that required her to stay till late?
Good! Very good!
It took only a few days post-engagement for her to learn how to lie to him!
That woman!
“Eldest… Eldest Young Master, maybe their school activities had just ended, and they’re now going out for dinner…”
Levi did not dare to continue defending the young madam. After all, they had seen her leaned against a boy’s shoulder.
Eldest Young Master Williams had a terrifying vibe on him.
Young Madam had asked for more than she had bargained for.
The man in the back seat did not move at all. Levi looked at him quietly several times from the rear-view mirror, and he noticed that the young master had only stared at those figures in the distance.
His eyes seemed to be in low spirits, and his expression was cold. Levi had no idea what was in his mind.
Grief was inevitable. After all, Young Madam had lied, and her actions had provoked him.
At the alley, Elena felt a chill down her neck as she waited for the food to arrive.
She turned to look, but nothing was amiss.
She scanned her surroundings again, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
“What’s wrong?” Luacs was the first to notice her strange behavior.
Elena sat upright, looked around, and then she shook her head. “Nothing.”
She felt as if a pair of cold eyes had been staring at her.
The dishes were served rather quickly. Caleb and Layla, who were both unaware of the situation, immediately began to chomp down on the food.
Elena turned around again, but she still could not make out anything unusual.
However, she was very uncomfortable because it felt as though a cheetah had been staring at her.
“I didn’t notice anything.” Luacs pushed a bowl of porridge toward her. “Don’t think about it. Eat first, and then we’ll talk more about it.”
“Mmm.” She lowered her head and ate a spoonful.
Luacs had always been sensitive to danger, so if he said that it was okay, then everything should be fine.
She did not know what it was, but her heart seemed quite unsettled after she lied to Eldest Young Master Williams.
It must have been her guilty conscience.
It seemed like one should never lie indiscriminately. The psychological pressure was too great a burden to bear.
If Eldest Young Master Williams knew that she had lied to him, what would happen to her?
That man was remarkably scary sometimes…
“Elena, it’s your favorite salt and pepper ribs. Want some?”
“Yes!”
Finally, the feeling that a cheetah had stared at her gradually dissipated.
However, as she lowered her head, she thought she had heard the sound of a car engine starting in the distance. Was she hearing things?
After they filled their stomachs with food and drink, Elena and Layla started to make their way back to their dormitory.
Caleb and Luacs lived outside the school compound, and they were worried about the two girls going back there by themselves. They decided to accompany them on their way home.
The journey from the office building to the school was within walking distance.
However, one had to go through a deserted road along the route.
There were open parks on both sides of that road. Flowers and plants made for a beautiful sight during the day, and the air was fresh and pleasant.
However, it was a bit eerie to walk on that road at night.
Luacs’s eyebrows furrowed as soon as they ventured through the road.
Some anxiety surfaced in his heart.
After only a few dozen steps, he suddenly stopped and quietly said, “Wait a minute.”
“What’s wrong?” The three people in front of him also stopped in their tracks. Elena turned to him. “What’s wrong?”
Luacs did not explain. The only thing he did was to take Elena’s hand abruptly and began to turn back. “Caleb, we need to change course now.”
“Okay!” Caleb immediately dragged Layla with him and followed the other two at once.
In the far distance, a dozen thugs who laid in waiting on both sides of the road were instantly puzzled.
How could they have known that there was an ambush waiting for them when they were still so far away?
The tallest boy seemed quite scary!
One of the thugs pulled out his cell phone. “They’re not coming here. You guys will have to block the road right now!”
They were prepared for that night. The group at the ambush site was only one out of their many teams.
Therefore, before Luacs and his friends could make a hasty retreat to the intersection, another team had quickly blocked their exit!
“Help! Murder!”
Elena and Layla immediately shouted.
They were less than 10 meters from the intersection. As long as they could alert the people on the main road, someone might be able to help them call the police
“You b*tch, shut up!” Two men with knives in their hands immediately rushed toward Luacs and Elena.
About a dozen people behind him also followed suit, and each of them had a knife in their hand.
Mu Luacs shielded Elena, who was behind him, and then he punched the man in front of him.
“Luacs! Watch out!” Elena whispered as she watched the knife cut Luacs’s fist.
The other party had knives, but Mu Luacs could only use his bare hands.
Caleb tried to protect the two girls behind him. He wanted to help Luacs, but he did not know how to fight!
He could only watch as Luacs fought with his bare hands against the knife-wielders. It was too late to remind him.
Just as the knife was about to come into contact with Luacs’s fist, he turned his wrist suddenly, so that he could form his fingers into claws. He had turned his fist into a gripper.
With a click, the man with the knife screamed. His wrist seemed to have been broken.
The knife in his hand immediately fell into Luacs’s possession.
He finally had a weapon!
Elena and Layla felt slightly relieved and were a bit more confident.
However, there was nothing optimistic about their situation.
A dozen people blocked them from the front while another group had rushed to the site from behind them.
Each of them had a weapon, unlike the lumps that Mia had brought with her in the past.
Those people were truly the thugs of society! They were ruthless when they had to get the job done!
It did not look like an ordinary brawl as the thugs were clearly out to kill them!
Who was so hell-bent on taking their lives?
