The old lady wanted to bring forward the time of the banquet because her favorite grandson was back.
Henry had spent three years in City L’s largest hospital because of his poor health.
He was supposed to return at the end of the year, but for some reason, he was back earlier, and he did not inform anyone about it.
Elena was shell-shocked when she received the news.
Henry was back!
Henry was finally back!
“Levi, do you think I look good in this outfit? Or was the previous outfit better? Tell me, please!”
She had already changed three skirts and was about to try out the fourth one.
Levi had never seen the young madam so nervous before. She was not even half as anxious when she got engaged with Eldest Young Master!
Henry was the one who sacrificed his life to save her in her past life.
She was very nervous as she was about to see him again in her new life!
She nearly got ahead of herself and wanted to wash the cosmetics off her face. Henry liked things to be clean and loathed the smell of cosmetics.
That silly man caused her mental breakdown when he died for her.
To think that he was back! He was alive again!
Well, to be precise, she was the one who came back to life and had another chance to see him again!
Michael sat on the sofa. He frowned when he noticed that the girl was fidgety, and completely unlike her usual demeanor.
It was just an ordinary family banquet. Why was she so nervous?
Furthermore, she had already visited the Williams’s in the morning, yet her nervousness had only just surfaced. Something did not seem quite right.
“Young Madam, I think… All of them looked good.” How would Levi dare to speak so much when the eldest young master was nearby?
He had wanted to say that the outfits made no difference due to how her face had looked.
Elena glared at him because she knew that he was lying.
Her gaze then accidentally landed on the man on the sofa.
She wanted his opinions, but a person with as much prestige as Eldest Young Master Williams would never spare the time for her.
He had been busy, so he might not have even looked at her once.
Elena was a little discouraged, and she was about to go upstairs to change when a man’s low voice said, “The second one was better.”
“You think that the second set looks good, too?” Elena was startled, but there was joy in her eyes.
She also thought that the second skirt with white floral patterns looked good, but since no one else could lend their opinions, she was still indecisive about it.
She was surprised that Eldest Young Master Williams managed to pay attention to her even though he was busy with work.
Had he been watching her whenever she walked down the stairs?
Michael did not say anything. Naturally, he was not bothered about such trivial matters.
She was unsure if he really did make a comparison between the dresses or simply chose one.
Maybe he wanted to save some time…
Despite that, Elena happily went upstairs and donned the second skirt that she had tried on.
Then she ran her fingers through her long hair and tied them loosely a silver-gray strap.
It was unfortunate that her face was ugly. She looked attractive the way she dressed.
When she returned downstairs, the two looked at her somewhat differently.
Levi felt nothing but pity for her. Her figure was rather stunning in that dress, but that face…
It was like a flower stuck in cow’s dung, although he did not dare say it aloud.
Michael’s gaze swept past Elena. It was as enigmatic as a star, and it left one unable to decipher his thoughts.
He was somewhat confused as to why her charm could make him lose control so easily.
His loss of control that day was beyond his expectations-he did not even close the door!
He was accustomed to keeping tight control, so he felt somewhat reluctant to lose power in such a manner.
His dark-colored eyes reverted to its usual coldness, as though there was no life within it.
He stood up and walked toward the door.
Levi immediately looked at Elena and said with a smile, “Young Madam, it’s getting late.”
“Okay.” Elena was also aware that her repeated change of outfit took up a lot of time.
Eldest Young Master Williams did not look too happy earlier. Did he blame her as well for wasting too much of his time?
She followed him quickly.
Their chauffeur had driven the car to the hall door in advance, as he waited for Michael and Elena. Levi then went to the driver’s seat and started the car.
“What did you buy today?” Michael’s gaze drifted past her.
Qin Ming was the one who prepared the clothes. The styles were simple and elegant but were from world-renowned brands, nonetheless.
Still, the bag in her hands looked a bit shabby.
Even though Michael’s Century Corporation was not in the fashion industry, a fashion business was under its purview.
He knew many international brand names, including those that catered to women.
Elena looked at her bag and said, “I’ve returned them all.”
“And why did you return them?”
“It’s not like I need them anyway. We wouldn’t need to spend any money if I returned them…”
Elena’s voice suddenly became weak at the end of the sentence.
Sure enough, Michael was momentarily displeased. “Does my fiancée need to return the things that she does not like?”
“I…” She bit her lip. Of course, Eldest Young Master Williams would rather throw away something he did not like than to return it.
If she returned those goods for the sake of some money, it was his reputation that would take a hammering.
That money, however, belonged to Eldest Young Master Williams! It was not hers, and she felt so guilty if she were to spend it like that!
Even so, they were supposed to be at the Williams family’s dinner that night, and all members of the Williams family were born with a silver spoon.
If she were to bring that bag, it would undoubtedly incur the ridicule of the Williams family’s womenfolk.
Their laughs would merely be directed toward her. Everyone knew that Eldest Young Master Williams had riches and good looks-no one will doubt his power and influence.
At most, all they could do was make fun of how she was so unloved.
Would Eldest Young Master Williams really take offense to that?
“Head to the city,” Michael suddenly ordered.
Li Yan answered at once, “Yes.”
With a squeak, the car stopped in front of the city’s top commercial district.
When Elena entered the building, Eldest Young Master Williams ‘s indifferent voice seemed to linger in her ear, “If it’s below one million dollars, don’t buy it.”
Elena felt as though she would float away. She had never expected to even see bags worth upward of a million dollars.
Scratch that-it was two lifetimes!
When Elena entered the building, she realized that she knew nothing about famous brands in the past.
She thought that a bag priced at thirty to forty-thousand dollars was already considered a luxury accessory. Still, after she went into the store, she discovered that very few of the items were priced at below 100 thousand dollars!
Wow, wow, wow! A look at those prices was enough to make one’s heart twinge even without a purchase.
There were some brands there that Elena knew, though.
However, all of them were limited edition worth a fortune.
She had only spent extravagantly once in her lifetime, and that was a few days ago when she treated her friends to food and accommodation. That was to celebrate her rebirth!
Also, even though she was Mrs. Williams in her past life, she did not go out of her way to live life luxuriously.
One look at the dazzling array of goods in front of her was sufficient to make her heart bleed.
She walked into a store called HARMADS, a brand that she had never known existed.
She had not taken a few steps into the shop when a salesperson stopped in front of her.
The salesperson took a look at the bag in her hand, and then at her dress that bore a striking resemblance to the style of the famous CHEMII. Her expression suddenly sank.
“I’m sorry, Miss, our shop will be closed soon. Please visit a different store.”
