Chapter 399 The Bluffing Lawyer’s Letter

Book:We're Getting Married Published:2024-5-1

Two of them happily talk and laugh all the way to the entrance of the Imperial Villa. The car is suddenly blocked by a black Mercedes-Benz at the main entrance of the villa.
Rex is familiar with the license plate number. It’s Vivian’s car.
Why is she here?
Vivian already waits here for a long time. The security of the villa refuses to let her in, so she can only park the car on the side of the road and waits at the front door.
Two hours pass by, she finally sees the familiar car approaching.
Vivian unfastens her seat belt. She walks towards the car with her silver high-heels. Since the last banquet, she can’t see him again. She misses him so much. She doesn’t have any good idea but stopping his car like this.
Unexpectedly, it really works.
Rex doesn’t move at all on the seat. His eyes only fall on her for a few seconds. Watching her approaching, he steps on the accelerator and turns the steering wheel. The car is going to the opposite direction.
Vivian hurriedly runs towards him, “Rex, Rex…”
Her voice is hardly heard through the car’s window. Rex doesn’t stop at all. He drives directly to the side door of the villa.
Even if she chases and runs after him, he doesn’t care. If it happens in another day, maybe he can stop the car. Today Adair is in the car. He doesn’t want Adair to see her like that.
Don’t dare to discredit him a little bit in front of his son!
Vivian sees the car disappearing in the doorway of the side door. The fast-turning wheels show how much he avoids seeing her. The heels make her feel painful because of running.
She stops in place, looking at the side door of the villa. There is no trace on the ground. If she doesn’t watch him driving by, she would even think it’s just an illusion.
She is sure that Rex sees her. It is impossible to not see her. And if he doesn’t see her, he would not enter through another door. Obviously, he avoids her.
But he doesn’t even get out of the car. He just drives away like that!
Vivian looks a little stunned since she is still under shock. She remembers how soft his tone is when he talks to her in front of Lily at the banquet. Is it because he uses her to anger Lily?
Vivian doesn’t want to admit it. During this time, she always feels that she has a chance with him. Is she the only one think so?
She suddenly remembers that she sees a kid in the passenger seat at a glance. She doesn’t see the kid clearly. He looks like four or five years old. In these years, Rex never takes back any kid, whether it is his friends’ or family members’. He takes back none of them. Also there is barely any kid in his family.
Vivian naturally thinks of the son from him and Lily. She becomes more and more angry. She knows that couples may go back together because of their kids. This kid is such a barrier for her.
Vivian clenches her hands firmly beside her. Her eyes stare at the door. It is so vicious that even the security guard becomes a little suspicious, “Lady, if you are not a resident here, please move the car away.”
A man’s voice suddenly sounds at her side. Vivian gets shocked for a few seconds. She glares at the security guard. Then she rolls her eyes in disgust and turns away.
The security guard has been talked to countless wealthy households. It’s the first time he meets such a rude lady. He curses in a low voice, “Crazy!”

It is already the next day when Lily receives the lawyer’s letter. She just clams down a little bit after a good sleep. Suddenly she receives a letter from EMS. When she opens it, her feelings are getting super down.
It is a very formal letter from a lawyer. It includes some content about the child’s custody rights, also something she did five years ago. What makes her so angry is that it includes the accident of the escort car five years ago.
She knows it is inevitable. But when she sees Rex’s name in the column of client, she can’t restrain her anger.
He clearly knows what is going on. She is wronged. She has no choice but to leave her hometown. The decision she makes in the helpless situation suddenly becomes an excuse for him to fight for the custody of the child. How can she not be angry?
Moreover, it’s already been a long time. As long as he doesn’t mention it, no one will re-investigate it. But now he wants to use it to fight with her, how can he do this to her!
Lily puts the file on the table. She holds her head with both hands, being heart-broken and painful. She knows she is in trouble now.
When Ryan walks in with a cup of coffee, he sees her being upset. He picks up the paper on the desk casually and starts reading. The letter is clear and clean.
“He won’t sue you.” Ryan says suddenly.
Lily is so upset, “I don’t know, he might actually sue me for the custody of Adair.”
“No, he won’t.” From Ryan’s point of view, once Rex really sues Lily, there will be no possibility between them anymore. He won’t do such thing. He will never let Lily go. “He doesn’t want to lose you. He will never do such stupid things.”
Lily doesn’t dare to be so confident in this kind of thing. What he says when she leaves that day, as well as that Miss Vivian, makes her feel unsure. “If he really wants to do it, I am not sure who will get the custody at the end.”
She has a criminal record and a period of jail experience. She is a single mother. There is also a huge financial gap between her and him. All of these make her feel suffer.
“If he is really determined to sue you, he won’t send you a lawyer’s letter. He would just go to the Public Security Bureau to file a case.” Ryan understands clearly, “For now, he is just trying to give you pressure.”
“Pressure?” Lily sneers, “What good is it for him? Would he be happy watching me suffering?”
“He is forcing you to listen to him.”
“Am I not now?” Lily thinks of what happens these days, from refusing him to accepting him. She can’t even struggle when this man takes action.
“Don’t panic. Let’s see what he plans to do next.” Ryan comforts her. But at the same time, he is thinking that he should give Rex more pressure on the company affairs.
Rex is really good at using Lily’s emotions and feelings. He knows her thoughts clearly, but Lily doesn’t know his.
The lawyer’s letter is like a time bomb in Lily’s hands. She becomes fidgeting and anxious.
Ryan tells her to wait, but she can’t wait at all. She is afraid that she will get the subpoena from the court if she keeps waiting.
Lily can’t just wait without doing anything. But at the same time, she can’t find any breakthrough. After considering it carefully, she knows only Karl can help her. If she needs an intermediary to mediate, Karl is the best choice.
She considers a lot, and finally dials his number.
They don’t contact each other for five years. She is even worried that his number is changed. Fortunately, it works.
The phone gets picked up after beeping twice. Lily suddenly gets so nervous that it feels like her heart is rising up to her throat. Before she can think about what to say, he says in a really gentle voice, “Lily?”
