Alice and her husband, Louis, just celebrated their son’s first birthday. The next day, while Louis was having porridge, she suddenly called out, “Honey, I’m pregnant.”
Pff…
Louis choked his porridge out of his throat, looking up in astonishment and stammering, “Are you kidding me?”
Alice glared at him, “Why would I joke about this?”
“We had protection, didn’t we? How come you get pregnant?”
“Even if we had protection, it doesn’t mean it’s 100% safe. Besides, there was one time you didn’t.”
“When?”
“Last week, you were drunk one night, ripped my clothes off after home, and banged me.”
“I were drunk?”
“Yes.”
“Even though I were drunk, you were sober. I didn’t have the protection, you should take the pills. Don’t tell me you didn’t!”
“I didn’t.”
“Why?”
Alice replied casually, “I forgot it.”
Louis rubbed his brow, saying solemnly, “How could you forget it? Now things get worse.”
“How come it gets worse? I’m just pregnant, if you don’t want the baby, I’ll have an abortion then, it’s no big deal.”
“Abortion? You think it is that easy to have a baby and remove when you don’t want it?”
“It is.”
Louis glared at her, sighing, “Never mind, since you are pregnant, we’ll just keep the baby.”
“I don’t wanna keep the baby.”
“Why?”
“You don’t really want to. See, you are looking reluctant. I won’t keep the baby.”
Alice threw a tantrum and Louis held her on her shoulder, “Fool, you think I don’t want to keep my own baby? I just don’t wanna see you suffer.”
“Suffer from what? Don’t give me a sweet talk.”
“I don’t, I mean it.”
Suddenly Louis turned to very serious, “I have been feeling guilty for you. Other people have their mother-in-law to take care of them after giving birth, but you don’t. From the moment our son was born to now, you have been taking care of him on your own. It’s already hard for you. If we have another kid, you will have an even harder time. As a man, I feel very stricken, you know?”
Alice stunned and then chuckled, “You say I’m a fool, actually you are. I don’t necessarily need a mother-in-law to love me and take care of me, as long as you treat me nicely, that’s enough. I don’t feel jealous about those who have a mother-in-law. What’s not good about taking care of the kid? Though it’s arduous work, I feel happy at the same time. My mom had three kids, I had two older brothers, we were all raised by her. So, honey, it’s ok, I‘m willing to have lots of babies for you as long as you want.”
“Ok, then let’s keep the baby.”
Louis was moved, holding her in arms and kissing her cheek, “Got me a daughter this time.”
Four months of pregnancy, Belle accompanied Alice to do the ultrasound examination. The result delighted them, it was a daughter. When Louis came home at night, she told this good news to him, which greatly exhilarated him. He sat in front of the computer, “I gotta think about a name for my daughter.”
“Honey, don’t make it too obtuse. Actually, I like the names that Kevin gave to his two kids, warm and easy to understand.”
“What are their names?”
“Stella and Nate.”
“Hmm, very boring, classic Kevin.”
“Who said it’s boring? The kid’s name is supposed to be adorable. Our kid’s name, Alexander, it doesn’t sound cute at all, too mature.”
“How about you think about a name for our daughter?”
Alice shook her head, “I can’t come up with a good name.”
Louis laughed dotingly, “Alright, I get it, I’ll come up with a cute name, alright?”
“Great.”
“You go to watch TV in the living room, I’ll tell you when I have a good name.”
“Ok.”
After an episode of TV serials, Alice started to feel drowsy. A pregnant woman was more prone to feel sleepy. She slouched on the sofa and was about to nap, a glass of hot milk was served in front of her.
“Forgot your milk again?”
She stuck out her tongue naughtily, “Thank you, honey.”
” Have you come up with a good name yet?”
She asked while drinking hot milk.
“Yeah.”
“What is it?”
“Angelina.”
“Angelina?” Alice frowned, “What is this name? It’s not adorable at all. Even Lina is much better.”
“No, it’s Angelina.”
“I don’t care it’s Angelina or Lina, both sound ugly. Have you really thought about it? You are a headmaster, how could you be a headmaster”, you better resign.
Louis was disappointed, “How come you don’t like a name that is so artistic?”
“No, I don’t like it at all.”
“Alright. I figured you might not like it, so I have a back-up name.”
“What’s it?”
Alice got interested again.
“Grace.”
“Grace?”
“Yeah, it means a beautiful and elegant girl who gets along well with her family.”
Alice’s eyes sparkled, “Ah, I liked this one. Grace White, a beautiful and elegant girl. This one is nice. Louis, you made progress. Now you have my permission to be the headmaster for few more years.”
Louis was a little bit annoyed but had a gentle smile on his face.
Nine months after Alice has been pregnant, Louis had experience and sent her to live at the hospital a week before her delivery. The last time when Alice gave birth to their son, they were flirting with each other at home and Alice felt the pain in her abdomen, but they didn’t take it seriously until midnight she couldn’t put up with it. she felt fiercely painful. Their car was broken and they were unable to hail any taxis in the late night. Eventually, they called Louis’s father who was on his shift. He came and drove his daughter-in-law to the hospital. That was quite a scene.
Alice had her son in normal birth while the doctor suggested having a c-section this time. It would be hard for her to have a natural delivery as she has been in a delightful mood in the past year and only did two things every day: eating and sleeping. Besides, her son was taken care of by a professional nanny. So by the time she was about to give birth, her weight was over 75kg and the B-ultrasound examination showed that the baby was about 4kg. So Alice and Louis both agreed to the c-section delivery.
Before going to the labor room, Alice held her husband’s hand, crying, “Honey, you really don’t mind that a scar will be left on my stomach?”
Kevin rubbed his chest, “Of course yes, but we gotta let our daughter out.”
“Yeah, but there will be a scar on my belly. And people would know that I’ve given birth once seeing it…”
“You thought others wouldn’t know you are a mom if they don’t see your belly?”
Louis looked at the pregnancy freckles on her face.
“Honey, what do you mean? I don’t understand.”
The nurse pulled the trolley into the labor room, but she was still grabbing Louis’s hand and kept asking.
‘Ok, I’ll tell you when you are back in victory. Honey, you can do it.”
An hour and a half later, Alive delivered her daughter successfully. The baby weighed 4100 grams and was very healthy and pretty, a graceful pretty girl just as her name meant.
Three hours later, Alice and the kid came out from the labor room. They were sent to the maternal and child care room. Louis held his daughter and tremendously adored her. He couldn’t take his eyes off her and even left out his wife. Alice was jealous, with her teeth gripping.
“Excuse me, is this Alice’s ward?”
A delivery man stood at the door, holding a file while checking and querying.
Alice blinked her eyes, “Yes, what’s up?”
The delivery man then handed her a big bunch of red rose immediately, “Someone sends you the flower. Please check.”
“Who…who sends it?”
Alice was extremely flattered. Her husband didn’t even send her flower, who else cared about her so much?
“I’m not sure. There is a blessing card in the flower. You can take a look .”
That man went out of the ward. Alice took the blessing card and was suddenly radiant with a smile, every prettier than the roses. The card read, ‘Honey, thank you. I love you forever and a day.”
She drowned herself in the roses. It smelled so fragrant and so sweet, all the way to her lung.
“Honey, you are such a romantic man. You make me shy.”
“Honey, that’s what I want, I want you to feel shy so that you’ll cut yourself off from the wild thought that I won’t love you after I have a daughter.”

On the day their daughter was one month old, Louis left the two kids to the nanny and took Alice out.
Alice had stayed at home for a month. Now she was delighted at the outside, like a bird out of its cage. Alice held Louis’s arm, asking, “Honey, where are you gonna take me?”
“We’re going to a restaurant.”
“Why we eat out today?”
“Of course we need to celebrate it on this big day.”
She titled her head in thought. A big day? What day was it today? Her birthday? No. His birthday? No. Their wedding anniversary? Still not. Then what day was it today?
Seeing her look puzzled, Louis laughed, “Stop guess, it’s Alice’s liberation day.”
“Huh?”
“The baby is one month old, and you are set free, shouldn’t we celebrate it?”
She then giggled and pinched him, “Annoying, why don’t you just tell, I thought today is an important day.”
After dinner, they went to watch a movie and later took a walk for an hour on a spacious road. That road was very long that Alice even got tired. So Louis carried her on his back as if they were just a newly-in-love couple.
Carried on Louis’s back, Alice looked up to the moon in the sky and thought that this was the life she wanted. She was happy, very happy. She got this marriage by her courage. She had been uncertain about what would happen. But now, it turned out to be great. She won.
“Honey, how long are you gonna carry me?”
“For your whole life.”
“Won’t you get tired?”
“No.”
“Won’t you get bored?”
“No.”
“Won’t you regret it?”
“No.”
“Then, I won’t, either.”
“What?”
“I won’t get tired, bored, and regret it, either.”
“You are the best. Come, give me a kiss.”
“Yeah, I’ll give you a kiss, honey.”
The two enjoyed their intimate time and came home until middle night. Their two kids were asleep, Alice took a hot shower. During this month, she kept working out and recovered her shape. Out of the bathroom, Louis couldn’t take his eyes off her. Lust emerged in his eyes.
“Honey, what are you looking at? I’m blushing.”
Louis moved slowly in front of her. She could feel his warm breath onto her face, “Who do you think I’m looking at, of course, it’s you. Honey, you look very beautiful at this moment. ”
“Wasn’t I beautiful before?”
“Yes, you were. But it’s just that I never looked at you so close before and never for a second that I think you are this pretty.”
“Stop your sweet talk. I’m not a little girl who falls in love the first time and would be cajoled to sleep with you easily.”

Louis held her up by her waist. She squealed but soon covered her mouth, patting him on the shoulder with a flirtatious smile, “Let me down, it would be embarrassed if the nanny hears it.”
“How could the nanny hear it? Unless you want to scream at the top of your lung?”
“I won’t scream. Let me down, you wolf.”
“No way. Since you call me the wolf, then I’ll be a wolf.”
The moon outside of the window hid behind the cloud out of shyness. Sexual tension hung in the air. With shoulder against shoulder and hand in hand, Louis said, “Darling, would you sing for me?”
Alice nodded, gently started, “If I should stay, I would be in your way, so I’ll go but I know, I’ll think of you every step of the way, and I will always love you…”
