Alice angrily got up and ran into the bedroom, slamming the door. Louis sighed, stroked his forehead, and knocked on the door, “Alice, will you open the door for a moment? You must not have heard me finish. You open the door and I’ll tell you what I said to her later.”
“I don’t want to hear it! From now on, let’s live apart, and you can reflect on what you’ve done!”
Then she threw out the pillow of Louis.
It was a week later that Bella received a call from Alvin, and she hopefully pressed answer –
“Hey, Alvin, any news?”
“Madam, from what I’ve observed and learned over the past week, Mr. Jones-Sharp goes to a counseling room called Sunshine every Saturday afternoon.”
“Counseling room? What is he doing there?”
“I’m not sure about that. He may be suffering from PTSD again.”
Bella thought for a moment, “Do you have the address of that counseling room?”
“Yes.”
“Send it to me by text message.”
“Okay.”
After receiving Alvin’s text message, she took that afternoon off work and went to the address in the text message, the Sunshine Counseling Room.
She pushed open the door to a room that wasn’t too small. Behind a desk was a large row of bookshelves with each patient’s medical history, and a man in his fifties got up and asked, “What can I do for you, Miss?”
Bella took a deep breath and asked, “I’d like to inquire if you have a patient named Kevin here.”
The middle-aged man was stunned, confused, and asked, “Why are you asking about this?”
“Will you please tell me? This is important to me.”
“Yes, there is this patient.”
“And what disease does he suffer from?”
Bella hurriedly asked.
“I’m sorry. It is a patient’s privacy and we are not at liberty to disclose it.”
“Sir please tell me. I am his wife and I have to find out what kind of disease he is suffering from.”
The middle-aged man looked her up and down and said quietly, “He is single to my knowledge. Miss, what do you want?”
Bella was anxious, “What should I call you?”
“Call me Dr. Wolf.”
“Dr. Wolf, I’m really Kevin’s wife. But two years ago something happened to us that forced us to separate. Please tell me, is my husband having a relapse of PTSD?”
“Miss, I’m really sorry, but we can never reveal a patient’s privacy without his consent.”
Bella’s eyes were red, and her voice was slightly choked up, “The purpose of your Sunshine Counseling Room is to banish the darkness in other people’s hearts. I believe that as long as you will be happy if you can cure the patient’s heart disease. If you are willing to tell me what kind of mental illness my husband is suffering from, I will definitely find a way to collaborate with you to help him overcome.”
Dr. Wolf wavered and sighed, “Why don’t I ask Kevin’s permission first? Then I’ll tell you if he agrees.”
“If he would agree, I wouldn’t have come here alone. He just didn’t want me to know, so I took the liberty of bothering you. Dr. Wolf, please tell me for the sake of my sincere heart, I really want to help my beloved. Even if the fate between him and me is over, I still want him to live a good life. ”
Bella’s tears finally touched Dr. Wolf and he nodded, “Okay then.”
Dr. Wolf pulled out a history of the disease from the bookshelf behind him and then handed it to Bella.
The cover of the document had Kevin’s name written on it, she trembled and opened it. She was shocked at the moment she saw the case …
Sexual dysfunction after adultery …
Bella looked up woodenly in a dizzy and was disturbed, and she shakily questioned, “What does this mean?”
“To be precise, the patient had sexual intercourse with someone unconsciously, which traumatizes him psychologically and made it impossible for him to have a normal sex life again.”
“When did he start receiving psychological counseling? Does it work?”
Bella shed tears and she felt very bad.
“About a year and a half ago. It hasn’t had much effect so far, because it’s not a problem that can be solved by medication, but it’s a psychological problem. A lot of thing happened that broke him down during that time. It began when he had non-consensual sex and had a child, his lover leaving, his family broken, so he had a serious imbalance in his psyche under many blows, which led to sexual dysfunction.”
“Do you know what happened between me and him?”
Dr. Wolf nodded, “I’m his psychiatrist. How can I not know? I’m telling you because if you can participate in the treatment, it will really help his condition. The main reason why he will have sexual dysfunction is that he thinks he betrayed you. If you can show that you don’t mind and patiently guide him out of the shadow, he is very likely to be cured.”
Bella walked out of the door of the counseling room in a daze when the sunlight outside was a little harsh. She was very sad and came to the beach alone, and sat stupidly all afternoon.
She finally knew why Kevin would be so cold to her, and why he would try every possible way to make a clear break with her. He is so proud, so how could he let others know that he has sexual dysfunction, let alone facing the woman he loves. It is a very serious self-esteem problem.
After pondering for a night, she decided to save Kevin. In the end, she was also responsible for the fact that he became what he was now. If she hadn’t left him, he wouldn’t have blamed himself for causing the physical defect.
Dr. Wolf said that a man’s self-esteem was more precious than gold, so this matter couldn’t be told directly. She must pretend not to know it and guide him to confess step by step.
All along, she thought she was the most miserable person, but after learning about Kevin’s hidden disease, she realized that he was as miserable as she was.
Suffering from such an unspeakable disease, he couldn’t tell anyone but endure the pain himself. However, when his beloved woman appeared again with an excellent boyfriend beside her, he felt inferior and sad, thinking that others could give her anything that he couldn’t give, so he chose to escape and preferred to live in a dark hell rather than want his beloved woman to be with him because of sympathy.
When Bella completely understand Kevin’s heart, she actually hated herself for not knowing anything, but still blaming him for being cold to her. And she accepted Quintin to get back at him when Kevin was making out with other women in front of her. He must be so desperate at that time …
He couldn’t control his heart to love her and always cared for her, but she was still angry at him, saying that she was embarrassed by that, forcing him to say something desperate and to drive her away and tell her never to come back. When he said those words, how heartache and helpless he was! …
The next morning, when Bella went to work, she once again happened to meet Kevin in the lift.
“Why did you take yesterday afternoon off?”
Kevin asked icily.
“I felt ill.”
Her eyes flickered as she answered.
“Is everything okay?”
“En all right.”
Bella looked askance at him, who was in the face of her appearance, the death of his father, and looked sorrowful but he thought others could not see. In fact, one could tell at a glance if he was sensitive.
This evening, staff in the department worked overtime until nine o’clock, a lot shorter than the usual overtime. Bella obviously could walk back to the apartment but deliberately stayed at the office, until Kevin came over to ask her, “Don’t you get off work?”
“I’m leaving.”
She slowly packed her things and walked out.
When she got out of the company’s door, she still didn’t leave immediately but stood at the door waiting for Kevin to come out. After about half an hour, Kevin came out of the lift and passed by her, surprised, raising his eyebrow, “Why aren’t you leaving yet?”
She pointed her hand to the top of her head, “I’m enjoying the moon.”
Kevin helplessly mocked her, going straight towards his car.
He just got into the car, when suddenly, the right door was opened, and Bella followed him in.
“What for?”
“Give me a ride, please.”
“It’s just a short walk from here.”
“You’re on the way anyway. I’m still a little sick and don’t want to take a step.”
Kevin started the engine and the car drove towards her apartment. After a few minutes, it stopped. He waited for her to get off the bus, but she sat in the car and said, “Get off.” He reminded her.
Bella gazed at him for a moment, pushed open the car door, and walked down. But she fell on the ground as soon as she got out of the car. Kevin panicked, jumped out of the car, and ran to her to pick her up, “Bella, Bella, what’s the matter?”
She feigned weakness and opened her eyes, saying weakly, “I’m dizzy, please carry me in …”.
Kevin carried her in his arms, opened the door of the apartment, put her on the bed in the bedroom, bent over, and asked, “What seems to be the trouble? Do you need to go to the hospital?”
He was just about to straighten up when Bella suddenly reached out and hugged his neck, “I’m quite well. I just want you to stay.”
Kevin looked at her in shock, reacted after a while, and was about to break her hand away when she said, “Didn’t you say you have no immunity to women’s invitations? Then I’m inviting you to stay now.”
“Don’t do that.”
He straightened up, embarrassed, and was about to head out the door, but Bella closed the door first and said, aggrieved, “What? Am I no longer attractive to you at all? You’re eager to get rid of me.”
“Bella, stop it, I have work to do. Get out of my way.”
“I won’t.”
Bella knew exactly what he was running away from, and she had shamelessly lured him here to verify that he really had trouble getting erections.
“Are you getting out of my way or not?”
