“What? Did he really live there?”
“Yeah, this nuisance is pissing me off.”
Bella rubbed her forehead, “Okay then, I’ll hide out for a few days, so you and uncle be careful.”
“Alright! You take care of yourself too …”
As soon as the phone hung up, a voice popped up behind her, “Do you owe someone money?”
She jumped back in shock, panicking, “No.”
“Then why are you hiding out for a few days?”
Bella stared at him in embarrassment, “Why did you eavesdrop on someone on the phone?”
“I just happened to pass by here and accidentally heard it, not eavesdropping.” Quintin laughed, “Do you need help?”
“No, you can’t help.”
“What is it? How do you know I can’t help if you don’t tell me?”
Bella was annoyed and didn’t want to talk too much with him, so she got up and walked to the pantry, and Quintin followed her in, “Can you tell me? What is it exactly?”
He waited for her answer as he put coffee in a cup.
Bella was tired of him asking questions, so she simply confessed, “I was engaged to someone when I was twelve, but then I married another man, and now I’m divorced from that man. So the father of the man I had engaged with came to me and asked me to go back with his son.”
Pouncing … Cough. Quintin choked on a mouthful of coffee in his throat, almost choking to death. He looked up in shock, “Were you married?”
“Yeah.”
“Then why haven’t I heard from you?”
Quintin couldn’t believe what he heard. The woman in front of her was at most twenty-five or twenty-six years old, with white skin and a beautiful figure. She didn’t look like a married woman by any means.
“Why am I telling you this properly?”
“But you should have at least mentioned it.”
Bella sized him up frowning, “Why would I mention my marital status to you? It’s not that you’re into me, is it?”
Quintin was silent, and Bella smiled helplessly, “It seems like this is really the case. You have been into me, and now that you’ve heard that I’m a divorced woman, you’re so scared that you don’t even have the courage to admit it.”
“I was just thinking your love life is really complicated …”
“I never said I was a simple man.”
Bella shrugged, put down her glass of water, turned around, walked out of the pantry, went to her desk to clean up, and then picked up her bag and left the office.
She arrived at a hotel near the company and was about to check-in but found that she didn’t have her ID card with her, and as a result, she had to walk out, wandering the streets by herself.
Beeping, there was the sound of a car honking behind her, and she turned back in confusion, but it was Quintin again.
“What for?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Are you homeless? Call me brother and I’ll take you in for the night.”
She was speechless and turned around, “I don’t want you to take me in.”
Quintin got out of the car and handed her a set of door keys, “Okay, but I’m kind. Go ahead, No. 106, Building 4, Kathy Apartment. It’s my unused apartment. I lend it to you for a few days.”
“No, I have a place to stay.”
Bella refused to accept his kindness.
“Don’t be stubborn. You can’t go back home and you don’t have your ID card. Where are you going to stay? Are you going to sleep with beggars at the bottom of the overbridge?”
Seeing that it was getting late, Bella wavered a bit, and Quintin knew her concern, “Don’t worry,. I’m not interested in married women.”
Seeing that he didn’t seem to be joking, she only then accepted his good intentions, “Then thank you.”
“Let’s go, I’ll walk you over.”
Richard in Armand’s home guarded for five whole days but did not wait for Bella to return. He also asked around during the day but could not find out about the woman called Bella, so he finally believed that Bella did not turn to her uncle, dejected, and carried his baggage, and left on the fifth day.
Bella was very happy to receive the call from her aunt. She ran to the director’s office as soon as she got off work, and put the keys in her pocket on Quintin’s desk, “Thank you for these few days. I can go home to live in today.”
Quintin looked up, “Congratulations. Are you leaving now?”
“Well, let’s go.”
“I’ll walk you.”
“No-”
Bella just finished speaking when Quintin had been out of the office. She sighed helplessly and had to follow out.
When she arrived at her uncle’s house, her aunt was already waiting at the door. Seeing Quintin for the second time, Mika already appeared to be well acquainted and greeted her warmly, “Mr. Stock, it’s bothering you again to send our Bella home.”
“You’re welcome. I’m also on my way.”
“Bella is really fortunate to meet such a good boss like you.” Mika looked askance at her niece, “Where are you staying these days?”
“Stay at my place.”
Before Bella could answer, Quintin had already answered for her.
“What? Are you guys living together?”
Mika was shocked.
“No! It’s his unused apartment that he’s lending me to live in.”
Bella saw that her aunt had misunderstood and quickly explained.
“Oh, so that’s how it is …”
Mika smiled awkwardly, “Mr. Stock didn’t make it clear. I thought you guys were …”
She let out an embarrassed laugh again.
“By the way, I’ve cooked a lot of food today. If Mr. Stock doesn’t mind, why don’t you stay and eat with us?”
“Auntie, he’s not used to our poor diets.”
Bella didn’t want Quintin to stay.
“Fine, I’d love to. I definitely won’t mind.”
Armand also got off work. They were around the square table. Except for Bella who was embarrassed, the others were all chatting, and Quintin was very talkative and was also a heavyweight, drinking a few cups of wine with Armand, and then he won the love of Armand.
A meal was very lively, and after dinner was over, Bella went to the kitchen to wash dishes. Mika quietly asked Quintin. “Quintin, honestly, are you a bit interested in our Bella?”
Quintin didn’t make a fuss and smiled calmly, “A little.”
“Then do you know … that our Bella was divorced?”
“I know.”
Mika was quite surprised, “You know she was divorced and still interested in her, right?”
“Having a crush on someone is only because that woman has something worthy of his love, and it has little to do with whether she’s divorced or not.”
“Gosh, Quintin, you’re so nice. Bella is lucky to have met you, but unfortunately …”
“What?”
Mika got choked up, so she said the pain that her niece went through. Quintin was very shocked after hearing it and also sympathized with Bella’s encounter. He painfully asked, “You said her ex-husband is very rich. What’s his name?”
If it was someone from the business world, Quintin thought that he would definitely know him.
“He’s ….”
Before Mika could reply, Bella had already washed the dishes and came out from the kitchen, and when she saw that Quintin had not left yet, she directly issued an eviction order, “Mr. Stock, it is already very late. My uncle has to get up early tomorrow to work at the docks. Should you … go home. ” She nodded with a fake smile.
Quintin wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn’t say anything and got up, “Alright, then I won’t continue to bother you. Thank you for the dinner. I had a great time.”
Mika couldn’t stop smiling, “It’s good if you like it. Come over next time if you like.” She pushed her niece, “Bella, send him away.”
“It’s not necessary. The car is parked at the door.”
“He has taken you in for a few days. Go quickly.”
Bella was unwillingly pushed out by her aunt.
Standing in front of Quintin’s car, Bella said solemnly, “Thank you. It’s been troublesome for you these past few days.”
“It’s alright.” Quintin stared at her black eyes and suddenly said, “Let’s date.”
Bella looked up in shock and said after a while, “Are you drunk?”
“I’m not drunk. I’m serious.”
Quintin really didn’t look like he was drunk, and Bella politely refused after a moment, “Sorry, I don’t want to fall in love, especially not with a rich man.”
“Why?”
“Because the luxurious life doesn’t suit me.”
She turned to leave, but Quintin held her back, “I know all about … your past. Give me a chance to take care of you, okay?”
Stunned, Bella refused again, “I’m sorry. I really don’t want to fall in love, and I can take care of myself.”
She resolutely walked away. Quintin gazed at her back and suddenly said loudly, “I don’t mind. I don’t mind that you’ve been divorced, and I don’t mind that you can’t have children. No matter how messed up Bella’s life used to be, you’re as perfect in my heart as the first time I saw you!”
