He closed his eyes in pain and leaned back in his office chair in exhaustion, his thoughts in such a mess that he didn’t even notice when Freya had entered the study.
“Are you missing her like that? Do you rather look at her picture than face a living person like me?”
Patrick slowly opened his eyes and coldly shouted with an expressionless face, “Get out.”
“I’m not to go out. I can’t stand you anymore. Even if you don’t care about me, you should at least care about the child in my belly. He’s your child!”
Kevin mockingly got up and told her clearly, “The only person I care about in this world is Bella, and only she is qualified to have my child.”
Freya was trembling with anger, but instead of venting it on the spot, she sarcastically retorted, “That’s only if she can have a child.”
“Even if she can’t have a child, I would rather not have a child, nor a child obtained by despicable means. A child will be like his mother. A child born by despicable means will grow up to be despicable. This will only tarnish the bloodline of our Jones-Sharp family!”
Freya was furious. She pounced herself on Kevin like a shrew and beat him up while he didn’t move and let her go crazy until his cell phone rang in his pocket and he pressed answer-.
“Hey, Lily … you miss me? Well, I’ll come over and keep you company …”
He spoke only briefly before hanging up the phone, pushing Freya away from him in disgust, turning and walking away with finality.
Freya plopped down on the floor and let out hysterical cries. This was completely out of her initial fantasy and was not the life she wanted at all. It was like living in hell and was not what she wanted, but that was Kevin wanted. He just wanted her to live in hell!
She was so furious that she got up and rushed downstairs, took a bottle of spirits out of the liquor cabinet, lifted her chin, and gulped it. That was great, so great!
When Blanche came downstairs, she just saw her gulping wine, and rushed up with a sudden burst of anger, snatched the bottle from her hand, and roared angrily, “Are you crazy? You’re pregnant but you even drink. Do you want to kill yourself or the child?!!”
“What do you care if your son doesn’t care about me?!”
“I wouldn’t bother with you if it weren’t for the sake of my grandson!”
Freya sneered, “You tell the truth now, right? I knew you’re usually just pretending to be nice to me as if you love me on the surface, but in fact, you’re scolding me all the time in your heart!”
“That’s what you should deserve. What do you deserve to be loved? You’re just making a scene in the house like a shrew all day. What else are you going to do?”
“Would I be like this if your son would be kinder to me or even be a little more attentive to me? Don’t stand there, old woman!”
Blanche was shocked stared at her. The next second, her face was livid, “You … you actually scolded me old woman … A woman like you has bad manners, deserving to be ignored by men. Not only my son hate you, if I were a man, I’d also run away from you! You’re no match for Bella!”
Not mentioning Bella, Freya also could be calm a little bit, but when Bella was mentioned, she was completely enraged. She pushed Blanche down on the ground and looked with glaring eyes, “She is good but why do you still let her divorce your son? Wouldn’t everyone be happy if you let the family line cut off? Look at you, you will not have posterity!”
She slammed the bottle down on the floor, turned around, and went upstairs in anger. Blanche was startled and stunned, looking at the broken bottle residue on the floor, and fainted in anger.
Freya felt crazy. She couldn’t control her temper, knew in her heart that she wasn’t like this before, and didn’t know when her mind was extremely distorted and had become unrecognizable even to herself.
That night, she burned everything about Bella in Kevin’s desk drawer including her pictures and clothes in the bedroom …
The moment she watched the fire sprang up, she revealed a hideous smile, and the anger blocked in her heart was vented.
The next evening, Kevin came back from the company and went straight upstairs into the study. A moment later, he came out of the study again, came downstairs, and harshly questioned Freya: “Did you move the things in my drawer?”
Freya asked calmly, “What are you referring to specifically?”
“Where are Bella’s pictures?”
Kevin was gloomy as he squeezed her wrist, and the cold light reflected in his eyes was like a sword that could penetrate a man’s heart.
“I burned them.”
Freya replied faintly, “And I burned her clothes. Since she has already left, what’s the use of keeping these things? We’ll never be able to start a new life with these things.”
Slap …
Kevin slammed her face. Freya didn’t stand still and fell to the ground. She smiled sarcastically, “Don’t hit my face. If you want to hit me, then you can my stomach, come on, hit my stomach.”
Knowing Kevin being extremely angry, she still deliberately pushed his buttons.
“Do you think I wouldn’t dare?”
Kevin gritted his teeth and crouched down, a hand slowly clenching into a fist, but was stopped by his mother who appeared in time, “Don’t-”
Blanche blocked in front of Freya while Patrick forcibly brought his son into the study: “Go, talk to me.”
Closed the door of the study, Patrick knelt down in front of his son, “Even if Dad begged you, for the sake of that child, do not do that to her … No matter how bad Freya is, that child is innocent. Even if you can no longer accept him, you can’t change the fact that he is your son. Can you just take it? Until the baby is born, you can do whatever you want. Your mother and I will never ask for anything from you again …”
Kevin gazed at his father with a cold stare and indifferently questioned, “This was also how you forced Bella to divorce me at that time, right?”
Patrick’s eyes dimmed and he didn’t admit or deny it. Kevin smiled mockingly, “There are really few parents who know how to make their children yield to them in that way. You are very remarkable.”
“Your mother and I don’t like Freya either, but we have sacrificed so much, just because we want that child to be born safely. We don’t expect you to treat her well, at least don’t irritate her anymore …”
Kevin was silent for a long time and indifferently said to his father, “Could you accept a woman who ruined your life? Do you have any idea what kind of hurt it’s caused me because of her pregnancy?”
“I know. Because it’s tearing you and Bella apart.”
“That’s fine if that’s all, I …”
Kevin swallowed back the words that came to his mouth, veins popped up on his forehead. For a father who didn’t understand him, he didn’t need to say too much.
He turned and walked out of the study. In the living room, Freya was holding a fruit knife and threatening to commit suicide. Blanche and the maids were scared to death and advised her to calm down and not to do anything stupid. Kevin passed by her without looking at her and walked straight forward.
His indifferent actions angered Freya once again, and Freya howled, “Besides Kevin, it’s useless for any of you to persuade me. I’m going to die today!!!”
She raised the fruit knife and aimed it at her abdomen, almost about to stab herself when the knife fell to the ground, and Kevin, who had already walked past her, walked back, and asked coldly, “Are you done?”
If at first Freya was indeed acting in the hope of attracting Kevin’s attention, then after hearing this, she was truly impelled to commit suicide. She bent down to pick up the fruit knife on the ground, aiming it at her wrist artery, closing her eyes and slicing hard, resulting in only breaking a thin layer of skin, once again being stopped by Patrick.
“If you want to die so badly, why do you need to bring an innocent life with you by all means?”
“I did everything I could to conceive a child just to have a good life with you. If I knew you were like this, I wouldn’t conceive this child!”
Kevin growled lowly, “From the very beginning, you and I could never go back, and since you’ve done this now, with responsibility for the child in your belly, you have to give birth to him!”
Freya was startled and looked up. What did he mean by that? Did he recognize the child indirectly? She was ecstatic, suddenly feeling a glimmer of hope in the dark future. Kevin let her give birth to the child, and that would mean that he accepted the child. So then sooner or later would he have to accept her?
That night, Freya finally had a sound sleep. In her dream, she saw Kevin came to the maternity hospital with roses to pick her and the baby out of the hospital and she snuggled in his arms, smiling incomparably sweet …
The next morning, she left the house in high spirits, ready to go to the hospital for a birth checkup. Since she moved to the upper house in a depressed mood, she hadn’t had a birth checkup once yet.
On the way to the hospital, she smilingly patted her belly and said, “Baby, our good day is coming soon, and mommy will bring you for a checkup regularly from now on.”
When she arrived at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, she did all some routine pregnancy tests, like urine test, blood pressure measurement, and ultrasound, but when she lamely saw the doctor’s face seemed a little grave, she asked worriedly, “Is everything normal?”
That doctor whispered a few words to another doctor beside him, and that doctor got up and walked out, and a moment later, the doctor who had examined Freya came in, and the three of them stared at the display and whispered a few words, all with grave faces. Only then did Freya realize that the situation might not be good, and she asked urgently, “What’s wrong with my baby?”
The doctor took a deep breath and said regretfully, “Your baby is gone …”
What? Freya blacked out.
When she woke up, she was still lying in the hospital bed, and suddenly ran madly to the obstetrics and gynecology department, found the doctor who was examining her, and frantically questioned, “How could my baby be gone? How did I lose it?!!!”
