“It doesn’t even matter now. Whether she stays or goes, as long as she’s doing well, it doesn’t matter. I’m a failure of a man, and no woman stays until the end. So from now on, I’m not going to love anyone or let anyone into my heart …”
It wasn’t a momentary gasp but was a genuine disappointment in love, and he was no longer able to bear the devastation it brought.
“So what are you going to do from now on? What are you going to do about Freya?”
“I know it by heart.”
Kevin drank a lot more wine and finally got drunk. Alvin sent him home. Blanche couldn’t help but feel very sad once she saw her son unconscious and drunk. Looking at his emaciated cheeks, she said sorry over and over again.
Freya received a call from Blanche in the afternoon. When she heard that Bella had left and Kevin had agreed to let her stay in their home, she was elated and felt that the unfair treatment she had received was finally worth it.
She excitedly packed her luggage. Tomorrow morning, Blanche would send a car to pick her home, as if she foresaw a happy picture in the future that she and Kevin held the child’s hand, laughing and strolling down the road.
The door was knocked, and she walked over to open the door and saw the man standing outside the door, her expression slightly unnatural, “You’re back.”
Conrad walked straight into the house, removed the guitar from his shoulder and nodded casually, “Yes.”
“Where did you go to perform this time? Why did it take you so long?”
Freya asked as she poured him tea.
“It’s a national tour, so it’s been a bit long.”
Conrad took the water from her hand, inadvertently skimming her bulging abdomen, and was suddenly startled. Thinking of the ovulation stimulating drugs he found in her home that day, he trembled and asked, “What’s wrong with your stomach?”
Freya took a deep breath, knowing that what should be confessed always had to be confessed, “I’m pregnant, your cousin’s child.”
The glass of water in her hand fell to the floor with a crack, splitting apart just like Conrad’s heart.
“I’m moving to his house tomorrow. He’s already agreed to marry me, and Bella is gone. Thank you for your company these past few years. I won’t forget how good you’ve been to me.”
“Don’t say that again!!!”
Conrad growled low in anger and pressed a hand on her shoulder, “I thought you were just confused temporarily but would never do something that crossed the line and I also thought that no matter how far you went, I would pull you back. But I never thought that you would turn out like this. I’m really completely disappointed in you.”
“I’m just fighting for what was originally mine.”
“What belonged to you? Does the world dictate who belongs to whom? You’re beyond sick and hopeless. I want to pull you back now, but even if I do, you won’t be able to turn back. I believe that one day, you’ll regret what you did today.”
Conrad got up in depression and picked up the guitar on the ground, took a few steps and then turned back and said, “You don’t need you to remember my goodness to you. It’s best to forget all of it because I don’t want to have any memories existing with you anymore. You’re no longer the Freya in my heart.”
Freya heard the sound of the door closing and shed tears of sadness. She thought that even if the whole world didn’t understand her, at least Conrad would. But now he said that he didn’t even want to have memories with her. It was fine to part with each other because they were just friends. She just needed to have Kevin.
Early in the morning, the Jones-Sharp family’s luxury limousine stopped in front of Freya’s apartment. She walked out with her luggage in a radiant manner. The driver came forward to receive her luggage, “Miss Macadam, let me do it.”
“Call me young lady.”
The driver was stunned, looking embarrassed.
“What? I’m about to marry your young master, so what’s the difficulty in correct it now?”
“Young lady …”
The driver shouted reluctantly.
Only then was Freya satisfied, getting the car, feeling that this call couldn’t be more appropriate for her.
The car drove for half an hour, finally arriving at the Cloud Mansion, and as she passed through the gate, Freya glared at the two guards, who had stopped her from entering before. At that time, she vowed that one day she would be picked up by the Jones-Sharp family’s car in an upright manner.
Now, she had done so.
Blanche was already standing at the door waiting for her, and although there was a smile on her face, her eyes were indifferent.
“Welcome to move to our home.”
Freya smiled, “Thanks to you and Dad. You’ve made a very wise choice.”
On the sofa in the living room, Patrick sat in contemplation. If it wasn’t for his grandson’s sake, he would never have allowed Camille’s daughter to live in.
“Dad, I’m coming over.”
Freya called them Mom and Dad incomparably naturally as if she had been living in this home for a long time.
“Well, welcome.”
Patrick nodded symbolically and went back to reading the newspaper.
“Where’s Kevin? Why haven’t I seen him?”
“He’s downstairs and should be down in a minute.”
Blanche smiled stiffly.
As soon as she finished, Kevin came down from upstairs, his hands in his pants pockets, looking cold like a piece of ice. Freya was not surprised with his look. After all, she had played tricks and forced away the woman he loved. How could he smile at her? But it didn’t matter. There would be ample time and she would have her tenderness to call back the love he had once had for her.
“Kevin, let’s go get a marriage license, shall we?”
Deeply afraid of undue delay bringing troubles, as soon as she met him she put forward the request of getting a certificate, “The banquet will not be necessary, and I am not that kind of vain woman.”
Kevin gazed coldly at her, “The certificate can’t be claimed for now.”
“Why?”
“Because Bella didn’t divorce me when she left, so now, I’m still married legally.”
“How come?!!!”
Freya was unable to accept it and turned around to question Blanche, “Didn’t I tell you to prepare the divorce papers and have her sign them before she left?!”
Blanche was a little alarmed and muttered, “I … I gave it to her … She said she would sign it.”
“How can you believe her words? You should have seen her sign the paperwork!” Freya stomped her foot in exasperation. It was not at all how she wanted it to be. Yesterday she received a call saying that Bella had left and they would pick her up at home today, so she thought that they had at least divorced. But she didn’t expect Bella to leave without a divorce. It was ridiculous!
Kevin smiled sarcastically. As expected, it was this woman who had forced his wife away.
“Don’t be anxious. Be careful of not getting raged and not harming the child. In fact, it’s fine if you don’t get a license. You can wait for two or three years, and the relationship between them as husband and wife will be automatically dissolved.”
“Two or three years?”
Freya stared in horror, “How will I know what you’ll be up to in two or three years? Without a license, my position is not at all secure. Your family is treating me like a fool!!!”
She angrily picked up her luggage and was about to leave. Patrick and his wife hurriedly stepped forward to stop her, “Don’t worry. You have our grandson, and no one will dare to do anything to you. We can make a written agreement with you.”
“Since my son has agreed to let you live in here, it means that for the sake of the child, he will also live well with you. So why should you throw away the happiness you’ve got?”
Blanche was worried about her grandson and turned back to wink at her son, trying to get him to coax her, but Kevin snorted, “If you want to go, just go, but I can remind you that next time you want to come I won’t easily agree with it.”
Freya had put in a lot of effort to achieve her goal. How could she really leave? She was just scaring the couple, but unfortunately, Kevin didn’t buy it.
After Kevin finished speaking, she turned around and went upstairs.
The couple persuaded Freya for a while before Freya pretended to reluctantly stay.
Blanche was relieved and quickly ordered the maid to bring up the simmering tonic soup, saying to her, “This is the pigeon soup I asked the kitchen to cook for you this morning, which is most beneficial to pregnancy. The more you drink, the smarter the baby will be, so you should drink it.”
Freya sat on the sofa, took the bowl of soup, and drank it.
Blanche breathed a long sigh of relief and rushed upstairs to her son’s study, lowering her voice and questioning, “What’s wrong with you?”
“What’s wrong with me?”
Kevin indifferently looked up.
“Isn’t Bella divorced? She signed it in front of me. How can you say she left without signing it?”
“I tore up the agreement, so what?”
With provocation in Kevin’s eyes, Blanche said in exasperation, “You …”
“I didn’t question you about what you did to Bella. You should have played deaf and dumb so everyone would have a better time.”
“What did I do to Bella? It’s not that I didn’t keep her, but it’s that she had to go. What could I do …”
“Enough!”
Kevin stood up and glared at his mother and said, “I know better than anyone what kind of people you are and I also know Bella. If it was not for the pressure you exerted on her, she would never leave even though she was tired and bitter. I don’t say it, but it doesn’t mean I don’t know. I don’t say it just because I’ve been disappointed with you and I don’t want to tell you anything like three years ago.”
Blanche looked at her son’s blood-red eyes, too frightened to say another word.
Freya also went upstairs after drinking the soup. She saw the study door open, so she went in and softly asked, “Kevin, which is your bedroom?”
Kevin got up and led her to the guest room, “You’ll stay here.”
“This isn’t your room, is it?”
Freya froze.
“No.”
Her face immediately fell, “I want to stay in your room. I’m your woman now, so why should I be allowed to stay in the guest room?”
“I have already treated you generously by letting you stay in the guest room. If there’s a doghouse, I’ll arrange for you to stay in it.”
Kevin snorted sarcastically.
“Kevin! How could you do this to me?”
Freya growled in shock, tears welling up in her eyes.
“What? Are you aggravated? If you’re aggrieved, why don’t you leave? No one will stop you.”
“You!!!”
It was as if Kevin had seen that she wouldn’t leave and deliberately provoked her. What she pretended in front of Patrick and his wife was useless in front of him.
