Chapter 160 Made Every Possible Effort(1)

Book:The CEO's Seventh Bride Published:2024-5-1

This night was a very meaningful night for the Jones-Sharps family, so Patrick and Blanche who had their normal routine did not rest early tonight, but sat on the sofa in the living room, waiting for their son to return.
Lena hid upstairs and didn’t dare to come down. She hadn’t told her parents that her sister-in-law had already gone out.
Knowing that she had made a mess, she knew that hiding was the best strategy.
At eleven o’clock exactly, outside the door came the sound of the car switched off. The couple stood up and strode towards the living room. They thought they would only see his son but did not expect the daughter-in-law even came down from the son’s car.
Patrick frowned and looked at them holding hands in the distance, and his face instantly fell.
Kevin could clearly feel Bella’s tension. He held her hand more tightly and softly instructed, “Don’t be afraid. You go upstairs first and leave him to me.”
Bella didn’t say anything, nor did she go straight upstairs as Kevin instructed and leave the mess to him, but went straight to the in-laws and knelt down.
“Bella, what are you doing?”
Kevin stared at her in shock and reached out to help her up, but she stopped him.
“Bella, you’re …”
Blanche was also shocked and confused by her actions, while Patrick didn’t move a muscle, already foreseeing what had happened.
“Mom and Dad, I’m sorry. I brought Kevin back. I thought I could do what you guys want me to do, but it turns out that I can’t do it at all. There’s no way I can endure my husband sharing a bed with another woman. Even if you no longer recognize me as your daughter-in-law, I won’t live in such a grievous way according to your ideas anymore.”
When the couple didn’t speak, Kevin growled in a low voice, “Get up, let me talk to them.”
He couldn’t endure his parents’ attitude towards Bella, and was even more afraid that they would say something that would waver her. He already knew in his heart that even though Bella was on his side at this moment. But her persistence could fall apart at any moment in the face of the unpredictable and cruel reality.
“This started because of me. If Mom and Dad don’t forgive me, I’ll never get up.”
Bella stubbornly knelt in front of her in-laws. Kevin said that from now on, she would learn to refuse all unreasonable demands. She was a traditionally educated woman and would not openly resist with her in-laws, but she would use her own actions to prove that she would not give in again.
The situation was deadlocked for a while, but finally, it was Blanche who opened her mouth, “Alright, get up.”
“Do you mean that you forgive me?”
Blanche sighed and nodded slowly, “Yes.”
Bella looked askance at her father-in-law, “Does Dad mean the same as Mom?”
Patrick said nothing and turned back to the house.
“Get up. His silence means acquiescence.”
The mother-in-law helped her up, then signaled to her gloomy-looking son at the side, “It’s late, and you’re tired. Go upstairs and rest.”
Kevin took Bella’s hand and pulled her upstairs without looking back.
Blanche entered the living room and saw her husband sitting on the sofa staring at her angrily, so she walked over and asked, “Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Because you didn’t stand firm.”
Shaking her head in frustration, she sat next to her husband and said patiently, “Is this going to be resolved by do something forcibly? You know my son’s temper, don’t you? If I hadn’t forced him with my life that day, do you think he would have agreed to your unreasonable demands? He might have already left the house by now.”
Patrick snorted, “So what? I’m his father and I’m threatened!”
“Then don’t hide in the study by yourself with his pictures and peek at them.”
“What did I sneak a peek at his picture?”
Patrick was a little embarrassed again.
“Well, you think I don’t know. Last time because of Freya’s parents, our son was so angry that he ran away from home. You hid in the study every night and mumbled to his picture for a long time. I don’t say it, but it doesn’t mean I don’t know. I just don’t want to expose you.”
“So what? He’ll be back sooner or later, won’t he?!”
“That’s because Bella played a part in the middle. Do you guarantee that if you offend your daughter-in-law this time and she will still do her best to help you bring your son back like she did last time?”
Blanche’s questioning made Patrick speechless. In fact, he really didn’t have such confidence.
“Alright, don’t be angry. I know you thirst for your grandson. Let’s put it aside, and there will always be a way to resolve it then.”
Having received the support of her husband and the forgiveness of her in-laws, Bella felt that the gray life finally had a glimmer of light. The next day she woke up early and came to her small secret room, opened the Chinese Medicine that was prescribed to her by the doctor in the King Hills last time. After pondering for a moment, she resolutely went downstairs, and decided to drink Chinese Medicine from today.
When Blanche got up, she smelled the strong smell of Chinese Medicine and followed the smell to the kitchen. Seeing her daughter-in-law standing in front of the kitchen stove fanning the flames, she went up to ask in confusion, “Bella, what are you doing?”
Bella snapped back and saw it was her mother-in-law. She smiled apologetically, “Mom, I’m stewing medicine.”
“Stewing medicine? What’s the medicine?”
“It’s a herbal medicine prescribed to me by a doctor, who says that it can cure my infertility.”
Blanche saw a rare glimmer in her daughter-in-law’s eyes and said sadly, “Do you believe in such a person too?”
Bella lowered her head and said glumly, “Anyway, I’m already like this now. It doesn’t matter if I believe it or not. There’s still a little hope if I believe it. If I don’t believe it, there will be no hope at all.”
Her mother-in-law was silent, just looking at her with regret, then, sighed heavily.
“Mom, you’ll support me, right?”
She raised her head and inquired cautiously.
“I’m a woman too, and I understand your pain better than the men in your family. So I’m all for anything that makes you feel hopeful.”
Bella was moved and her eyes were wet with tears. She said in a nasal voice, “Mom, thank you.”
After drinking Chinese Medicine. She went upstairs. Kevin had woken up, but lay in bed and did not get up. Seeing her into the room, he hooked his hand, “Come here.”
Bella walked straight over, bent down and asked, “Why?”
“Look if I’ve got something in my eye. It’s very itching.”
Kevin pointed to his left eye.
Bella immediately leaned over to examine it carefully for him, “It doesn’t seem like there’s anything.”
“Look a little closer.”
“I’m already looking very carefully. There’s really nothing.”
Bella just wanted to straighten up, but Kevin reached out and dragged her into his arms, then turned around, pressed her underneath, kissed her dotingly and romantically, hooked her tongue, and was gently obsessed with her kiss.
Kevin’s kiss was wild and overbearing. Bella almost couldn’t breathe. He finally released her. She made deep breaths while rubbing her red and swollen lips, coquettishly protesting, “You take advantage of me early in the morning. It’s nasty.”
“Did I take advantage of you? It’s herbal medicine, right?”
Kevin tasted the residual of Chinese Medicine in his mouth, extremely wickedly winking at her and smiling.
It was a bright Sunday. Alice didn’t get up until noon. Louis had gone out, and there was a note on the living room table, “I have something to do and will come back home late today. You cook on your own.”
They had married for a week. In this week, except for the work meals at school, Alice had not cooked a meal. Not because she was lazy but she couldn’t cook.
At first, she would suggest Louis to order takeaway, and after eating takeaway for three days in a row, Louis would find out that she was a woman who couldn’t cook.
So, from the fourth day onwards, Louis began to cook himself, she did not feel embarrassed. Anyway, he cooked and she ate, as if a man was responsible for cooking while women just ate, which was natural.
Three meals were all cooked by Louis yesterday. He was not at home today and let her cook herself. How could she cook? After washing the rinse, she went to the refrigerator and took out a bunch of snacks, and that was her solution.
She turned on the TV and picked a variety show at random. She enjoyed snacks and was very relaxed. She was like this when she lived alone before. She slept until noon at the weekend, and then languidly lying on the sofa, eating snacks and watching TV. After she married Louis, she didn’t want him to see that she was so lazy, so she pretended to be ladylike. Except for the rest of the working time, when she went home, she either corrected the homework or pretended to read a book.
Louis was only aware that she couldn’t cook. He was also deceived by her pretence.
She was enjoying her meal when suddenly, the door was opened by a foot, and her hands shook in fright, dropping the potato chips in her hands to the floor.
“What are you guys doing?”
She looked in panic at the two brawny men in front of her, who literally looked fierce. When she was confused, another person walked in the door, and the moment she saw her, she knew what happened in front of her.
“Mom …”
She shouted timidly.
Celeste’s face fell, “Who is your mother? Don’t disgust me.”
“What are you doing, Ms Taylor?”
Alice forced herself to call her Ms Taylor instead. Damn it. Who cared to call you mom?
“What for?”
Celeste smiled gloomily, “What do you think I want?”
In fact, if she just didn’t ask, she was clear when she saw the men …
“If you kidnap me, please wait for me to go to the toilet. My stomach hurts.”
Alice bent down, covering her stomach and going to the bathroom. But when she just was about to go forward, she was yanked back easily by the strong man.
She feigned pain, “Mom … Oh no, auntie, my stomach really hurts. Let me go to the toilet first. Then you can do whatever you want, okay?”
