He hung up the phone.
“I just said there was no misunderstanding. What kind of jealousy is this again?”
“I was trying to hold back, but I couldn’t, and you’re not allowed to remember that!”
“What?”
“I truly love you.”
Bella took a breath, “Did you heard it?”
“Can I not hear it when I’m close to you? He’s gone too far. I’m still around and he flirted with you outrageously. If I’m not still there, no way, you must quit that job.”
“Will you support me if I quit my job?”
Kevin glared, “Can’t I raise you?”
“Sure you can raise me, but I don’t want to live like that.”
“Then I’ll transfer you to a school, as long as you don’t stay in the same school with him.”
“But I just like my current school. I already have a strong bond with the students here.”
“You’re deliberately working against me, aren’t you?”
“Don’t be marrow-minded. It’s impossible between Louis and me. We haven’t fallen in love in three years, and it’s even more impossible to do so now.”
The car stopped and had arrived in front of the villa. Bella got out of the car and took Kevin’s arm and entered the house.
“I’ll keep an eye on that kid, and once he does anything untoward to you, you must immediately transfer to another school. Otherwise, I won’t let him go either.”
“Alright, got it.”
Bella let him sit down on the couch, then ran into the bathroom and came out a moment later with a large bucket of hot water.
“What for?”
Kevin was puzzled.
“Soak your feet.”
“You’re going to wash my feet, right?”
Kevin was a little flattered.
“Who wants to wash for you? We’ll do it together.”
She was the first to take off her shoes and socks, then pointed at his feet, “Take them off and come in.”
Kevin laughed for no reason.
“What are you laughing at?”
“Don’t you think that’s very teasing of you?”
What do you mean? Bella thought, “Is it off and in?”
“Yes.”
She blushed. She hadn’t realized it if he didn’t say. When he said so, it did seem quite that. Taking off and came in, where was he coming into …
“Nasty. Only a not prude man would have the dirty mind. You can’t wash it if you don’t want to. But I sprinkled essential oil in the water that can relieve fatigue.”
Kevin took off his shoes, and then his feet were ready to be put down when he once again teased, “Are you sure you just sprinkled essential oil in the water, and not an aphrodisiac?”
Bella gave him a creepy shove, “What are you talking about. Isn’t it indecent?”
Kevin laughed, hugged her by the shoulder and put his feet in.
In the not-so-small basin, with four feet next to each other, Kevin said with emotion, “Actually, we are living quite well.”
“Really? Don’t you think something’s missing?”
What Bella was actually trying to say was that the house was too desolate. It would be not monotonous to live with parents.
“No ah, I feel happy right now.”
“What are you happy with?”
Bella rolled her eyes at him.
“Being able to soak my feet with someone I like in the cold winter is happiness to me.”
She hesitated for a moment, and when she saw that he was in a good mood now, she plucked up the courage to say plainly, “Are you really not going to forgive Mom and Dad?”
Kevin’s body close to hers suddenly stiffened, looking at a loss.
“It’s not that I don’t forgive them, but there’s no way for me to accept it.”
“Why is there no way to accept it? Everyone does something wrong sometimes. As long as they realize they’re wrong, why will you refuse to get back with them?”
“That’s because things aren’t too bad right now. If I hadn’t met you, what would my life have been like? I could have justifiably said goodbye to Freya, but what now? Our Jones-Sharp family owes her a debt we can never repay, so I can no longer speak righteously in front of her.”
“So you will not refuse any of her requests, even if she offers to live with you.”
“Of course not, I feel guilty for her, and I have obligations to you. I will not break the promise I made at your mother’s grave just because I want to atone for my parents’ sins.”
“So is it true that you can’t forgive Mom and Dad? Are you really never going back to that house again?”
Kevin sighed sadly, saying the reason why he could not let go of his heart.
“Since childhood, my father and mother taught me to be open and generous, not take revenge on others because they hurt me. I must not harbor harmful intentions to always maintain a kind nature. In this kind of teaching, I grew up day by day, and took my parents who taught me these words as my most admired people. I am not good at expressing inner feelings! But I loved them, and I’m sure they knew I loved them, but what happened? The result is so unacceptable. The parents who have always taught me to be straightforward have cruelly killed someone else’s life. This kind of huge psychological gap really can’t be explained in a few words. I am also really, really, really disappointed.”
Kevin choked, and Bella remembered that day, when he locked his sister into the study, and instantly experienced the pain in his heart.
Even though he was so sad and disappointed, he didn’t want his sister to feel the same way as him.
This was what he was doing as a brother with the best of intentions.
“It’s okay. It will all pass. Now that we can’t get past the heartbreak in our eyes, but one day, we won’t even remember what it looks like.”
Bella stretched out her arms and hugged Kevin tightly.
The reason why people had two arms was to embrace their beloved, and right now, there were no words that could soothe his wounded and disappointed heart more than her warm embrace.
