“Okay, I’ll be right over.”
Bella put on a jacket and hurriedly drove to the company.
After arriving at the company, Alvin was waiting for her in the secretary’s office, and saw her coming, relieved, “Quickly go in. It’s probably already a fight.”
Bella walked to the door of the CEO’s office, and didn’t immediately push the door, but stood by the door and quietly listened to the conversation inside.
“Why do you appear in front of me so shamelessly? Get out.”
This was Kevin’s voice, filled with deep anger.
As he finished, the coffee cup by the desk smashed to the floor over Conrad’s head and he skinned his forehead and it blooded.
“I came to see you today, not because I feel any guilt towards you, but to tell you that Freya has never betrayed you, whether it’s her body or her heart.”
“Well, do you think that after three years I would still trust you as much as I did in the beginning?”
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe me, you can ask Freya. You always believe what she says, right?”
Kevin snorted coldly and said sulky, “I won’t believe a single word of you anymore.”
Bang-.
Conrad smashed his fist on Kevin’s face. He looked indignant and growled, “I forbid you to yell at her. Everyone in the world has the right to yell at her, but not you!”
Kevin immediately kicked at Conrad’s abdomen, “Since you like her so much, you should never come back for the rest of your lives. Why do you still come back? You are to show off your happiness, right?”
“It’s still because of you. Because of you, she left, and with the same reason, she’s back now. In Freya’s world, Kevin, you’re the only one!”
“Don’t say the fucking bullshit. I’m no longer the same person I was when you guys played me for a fool.”
Kevin was so angry that he fought with Conrad. Conrad was not willing to show weakness and roared as he fought back, “Freya lost her family because of you. I’ll get this justice for her today!!!”
Then, suddenly, Kevin stopped his hands and asked with a livid face, “What did you just say?”
Conrad wiped the bloodstains on his lips and gnashed, “If you want to know, you can ask Freya. Don’t think that she doesn’t feel sad because she doesn’t cry, and don’t think that she’s sorry for you. It’s the Jones-Sharps that feels sorry for her!”
“You make it clear!”
Kevin roughly grabbed him by the collar. He struggled to free himself, “There’s no reason for me to explain everything to you. If you really want to know, go investigate it yourself.”
Conrad glanced at him, and left with anger. He turned back after a few steps, “In the end, you don’t trust Freya’s feelings at all. Have you checked over why she left you these years? So how can one woman who loves you fall in love with someone else overnight? Did you really have no doubt at all? She was abroad day after day hoping that you would find out the truth and then come looking for her, but what she waited for was disappointment again and again.”
Conrad opened the door, stiffened, only to find Bella standing there. They looked at each other for a moment, but he did not say anything, carrying the guitar against the door and leaving.
Bella stood woodenly for a moment, not going into the CEO’s office, but turning and running out of the company, catching up with Conrad who was walking on the road.
“Let’s talk.”
She demanded with a light gasp.
Conrad nodded, “Let’s go.”
They went to a nearby cafe, ordered two cups of cappuccinos. Bella handed over her handkerchief, “Clean your wounds.”
“Thanks.”
Conrad took the handkerchief and covered the corner of his mouth, staring at the black coffee in front of him and asked, “What are we going to talk about?”
“We’re friends now, aren’t we?”
He was startled, “Yes.”
“If we’re friends now, why are we helping Freya destroy my family?”
“What do you mean by that?”
“You know your cousin hasn’t forgotten her, yet you still say those things to him. What are you doing if it’s not a sabotage?”
Conrad was silent for a few seconds and replied indifferently, “I just told the truth.”
“What are the facts? Why did Freya leave Kevin? What does her broken family have to do with Kevin?”
“It’s a long story.”
“You’re just being perfunctory. You can tell me all.”
“It’s better that you don’t know it. So don’t ask me.”
“Do you think I won’t look into it?”
Conrad was calm, “Whatever. If you want to check, then go ahead. I’ve already reminded you anyway, sometimes playing dumb isn’t a bad thing.”
He touched a ticket from his pocket, “My first show is coming after returning to China. You can go see it if you have time.”
He dropped the ticket and strode away, and Bella was startled to see the concert ticket in her hand: the Magic Band with You at Starry Night.
Conrad was a member of Magic Band, no wonder his singing so good. She remembered four years ago, she just started working. There was a popular Magic Band in B city. Just a few years later it suddenly declined. Bella did not expect that the band’s declined because of Conrad’s farewell without saying goodbye.
After finishing a cup of coffee, she got up and left the cafe, directly returning home.
As soon as she stepped into the front door of the mansion, she saw Lena sitting by the fountain alone and dazed. She quietly walked over and called out softly, “Lena.”
Lena came back to her senses and tried to fake a smile at her, “You’re back.”
“Do you miss Alvin again?”
She sat down carefully and inquired.
Lena looked down gloomily, “No.”
“Don’t lie to me. I know it well. How could I not understand what you are thinking.”
Lena was speechless. After a moment of silence, she said, “I’m already fine. There’s always a process, isn’t there? Don’t worry. I’ll be back to my old self soon.”
“That’s good.”
Bella tried to say something relaxing in an attempt to make her feel better, “By the way, your birthday’s coming, right? What do you want as a gift? I’ll give it to you.”
“No, there’s nothing I want.”
“You’re not celebrating a birthday like your brother, are you?”
Lena quickly shook her head, “No, it’s just that I don’t want to meet with too many friends yet.”
In past years, Lena’s birthday would be celebrated by inviting a large group of friends to a party at home, but this year’s birthday, she really wasn’t in the mood.
Bella noticed the loss in her eyes and smiled, “Alright then, you decide for yourself.”
When she got back to the house, she immediately took out her phone and called Alvin –
“Hello? Ma’am, Kevin is fine. You don’t have to worry.”
Alvin thought that Bella had called to inquire about Kevin’s condition, but she would say calmly, “I’m not asking him.”
“What? What’s that about?”
“Lena’s birthday is coming and I am wondering if you can spend the day with her if it’s convenient for you.”
After a few moments of silence on the phone, Alvin agreed, “Okay.”
“Then it’s a deal. You’ll come pick her up the morning after.”
“Okay.”
When Kevin came back from the office in the evening, Bella asked nothing as usual, though she heard everything.
And Kevin knew that she heard it.
After dinner, she went upstairs to pick out a beautiful coat and put on a delicate light makeup, then she picked up her bag and prepared to go out.
Only after stepping out of the bedroom, Kevin followed, examining her from head to toe, and asked, “Where are you going?”
“I’m hanging out.”
“Why do you hang out on such a cold day?”
“I’m glad.”
With her bag put over her shoulder, Bella went down the stairs. She didn’t drive and walked straight to one of the largest performance halls in the city.
According to the seat on the ticket Conrad gave her, she sat in the first row and glanced back at the performance hall that could hold a thousand people, mostly young women and at the age of dreaming.
After waiting ten minutes or so for the show to officially begin, the lights suddenly dimmed and a person hurried past Bella to sit not far from her.
With the flashing lights, Bella looked askance at that person, and was surprised to find that person was Freya.
She was stunned and quickly looked away, when the Magic Band had officially appeared on stage, led by the handsome Conrad. He gave a beautiful opening dance, causing the whole audience to scream.
“Hello, we are the members of the Magic Band. It’s been three whole years since we left this stage, and today, stepping onto the stage of our dreams once again, we will play the most shocking music for everyone …”
Applause-.
The whole room applauded passionately, even mixed with the crazy words: Conrad, I love you.
Conrad paused, “Before the performance officially begins, I want to say to someone in the audience that the next first song is for you. No matter how much time changes and you like me or not, my love for you has never changed in the slightest, for one year, for ten years, for a lifetime.”
Wow-.
The whole room erupted into a more enthusiastic climax. Screams and whistles were almost to overturn the roof of the performance hall. Everyone was curious who Conrad referred to, but only two people present knew the most clearly, Bella and the other being Freya.
The melody of I really love you was played slowly, and Conrad’s fantastic voice broke the silence of the night …
The perfect hands always brought me warmth behind my back. You were always wordy and always paid attention to me. I didn’t know how to cherish and feel too guilty …. There were screams, applause, and call. Bella had to admit the Magic Band’s musical attainments was really as good as any international any well-known band, and the woman was confessed by him being lucky.
