“Yes, and there’s no one to answer the phone, I’ll go over there myself.”
Bella hung up the phone, drove to the company alone. The whole building was dark. She had been here before when it was dark, so more or less she was used to it. She took the lift straight to the ninth floor to the president’s office, pushed open the door and lightly shouted, “Kevin, are you here?”
There was no answer, so she took out her phone to dial his number. Not far away from his desk, there was a bright light and vibration sound. She was confused and went over. It was Kevin Chi’s phone. She was even more confused. His phone was still in the company, but where did he go?
She turned on the office light and sat on his office chair waiting for him to return, thinking that he should be back soon as he left his phone in the office.
Bored, she opened a drawer in his office and caught a glimpse of a sky-blue letterhead, which she pulled out in confusion, upset instantly.
She was heartbroken. The letter paper fell to the floor and she quickly dialed Alvin’s number –
“Alvin, has Freya come to see Kevin?”
Alvin was surprised, “No, what happened?”
“Then who sent the letter to Kevin?”
“Was the letter written by Freya?”
Alvin hadn’t really thought of that.
“Yes.”
“I didn’t open it at the time, so I just gave it to him directly. I’m sorry ma’am.”
Bella said, feeling painful, “It’s fine. Do you know where the old place they’re talking about is?”
Alvin thought, “I heard from Kevin once, but I’m not really sure. You can go check out a chili noodle restaurant near B University.”
“Okay, thanks.”
“Ma’am-”
Bella was about to hang up the phone, Alvin was calling out, “But don’t tell Kevin that I provided the information. I also don’t want that woman to come back and hurt him again.”
“I understand.”
Bella hurriedly ran out. Being sad and disappointed, he drove fast to B University. Driving around B University, she soon found Kevin’s car.
She parked the car, took a deep breath, and walked into the chili noodle shop.
Standing by the door, she stared at Kevin, who had his back to her, and slowly looked at the woman across from him. Was she Freya? Was she the woman who had tormented him for nearly three years? Was she the first love that Kevin couldn’t forget by now?
She was upset. She had been wondering what kind of woman could be loved by Kevin. Until this moment, she had finally understood.
She was brighter than the moon, more dazzling than the stars, more pure and beautiful than the lotus flower, and more touching than the peony.
She was pure and lovely. No wonder Kevin and Conrad turned against each other just to be able to have her. Bella thought she wasn’t worse than her in terms of appearance, but knew that she wasn’t as lively as Freya.
And it was what could really impress Kevin.
She also walked over to them, but didn’t come forward, silently sat down on the seat next to them and greeted the boss, “I’d like a bowl of chili noodles.”
Kevin suddenly heard a familiar voice, and he immediately regained his consciousness. He looked sideways, and in the next second, he froze, but there was no reaction.
Bella knew that Kevin was staring at her, but pretended to ignore him. She just wanted to see if he had the courage to come over and talk to her in front of his first love.
Kevin looked at her for a while, and then suddenly got up and walked up to her, “Why are you here?”
“What? Can’t I come? Do you own this noodle shop?”
Bella looked at him coldly, her eyes provocative.
Freya walked over and inquired about Kevin inquisitively, “She is…”
Before waiting for Kevin to explain, Bella introduced herself, “Hello, Miss Macadam, I’ve heard a lot about you. I’m Kevin’s wife. My name is Bella.”
When Freya heard this, her eyes flashed, smiling. She extended her hand, “Hello.”
“May I have noodles with you?”
Bella pointed to the chili noodles that had just been brought up at the table.
“Good.”
Freya nodded.
She then sat next to Kevin with the chili noodles, then ate the noodles while casually asked, “I wonder if Miss Macadam is back for something this time.”
“Well yes.”
“What is it?”
“Sorry, I can’t disclose that.”
“So what’s the point of asking my old man out?”
Freya was embarrassed by her blunt words and didn’t know how to reply for a moment.
“Don’t tell me that you just catch up on old times. You know better than anyone that you have broken up.”
“Bella, stop saying this.”
Kevin interrupted her with a cold face, forbidding her to say more.
“Miss Burne-Brown may have misunderstood. I have no other purpose for asking Kevin out. I just want to say sorry to him.”
“Do you think that’s necessary? Three years ago, you left with determination, but three years later, you suddenly come back just to say sorry to him. You don’t think your sorry is really something, do you?”
Freya probably didn’t expect Bella to be so eloquent. She was shocked to examine her a few times, but she didn’t get angry, “There’s no big deal. It’s just that I’ll feel better if I say what I want to say.”
“You feel better. Don’t you ever think about how others feel? You know my husband can’t forget you until now, and you still ask him out. What do you have in mind?”
“Bella, stop saying that.”
Kevin once again spoke out to stop her, looking cold, but he didn’t know why he looked like that.
“What’s wrong with me? I’m telling you the truth, aren’t I? She shouldn’t have come back at all! If she left in the first place, she shouldn’t have come back, no matter what her reason is! Appearing in front of you now, she’s so shameless.”
“That’s enough. Are you done yet?!”
Kevin stood up and tugged on her arm to drag her out, and Bella shrugged him off angrily, “I’ll say it even though you don’t let me!” She glanced at Freya again, “Listen to me clearly, you abandoned him at the beginning. At the darkest time of his life, I rescued him. Therefore, no matter what reason you approach him, it depends on whether I agree or not. If I don’t agree, you are not qualified to approach him. I hope today’s invitation will not happen again. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude! ”
“Have you had enough?”
The chili noodle shop had been surrounded by a bunch of people watching them. Kevin angrily growled at Bella. Bella glanced at him indifferently, and mockingly questioned, “Is it me to make trouble again? It was you who said we’d have dinner together tonight, but you ended up forgetting our agreement to have noodles with your first love in a place filled with memories of yours. In the end, you still think it was me who made a scene again? Kevin, in your eyes, am I a fool who must appear when you need me and should put up with you when you don’t?”
Her heart trembled with pain, and before he could answer, she turned and ran out of the noodle shop, shedding tears. How could she not be aggrieved? She was supposed to be the heroine of this dinner.
How could she accept that? How could she forget Kevin’s protection of Freya? How could he forget that he had experienced a hard time in the past three years because of that woman?
The atmosphere in the noodle shop was embarrassing. Kevin glanced at Freya who bowed her head in silence and said huskily, “I’m leaving.”
“Okay.”
Freya didn’t look up, her long eyelashes flickered.
He walked to the counter and paid the bill, then chased after Bella. Looking at his hurriedly departing back, Freya finally shed tears.
She sniffled and took out a note sticker from her bag tearfully, writing, “It’s nice to know you’re doing well, even if you’re not with me …”
Going to the wall on the right side of the noodle shop, she stuck it in her favorite corner.
Then, she went back to the seat, sat down, and ate half a bowl of spicy noodles.
Bella ran into their car, putting her head on the steering wheel and sadly crying. She originally thought that as long as she tried to make him like her, even the end of the world couldn’t separate them. But at the moment, she found that the end of the world was no match for reality …
Hearing the knock on the closed window, she looked up tearfully and saw that it was Kevin. She continued to lower her head and cry.
“Bella, open the door, open the door!”
Kevin stood by her car window and called out loudly, but she was so immersed in her own sadness. She was so annoyed that he knocked on her door, started the engine and drove away.
Kevin immediately get into his own car to catch up. Looking at the front of her accelerating, he was nervous and very worried that she would be in danger. He wanted to call her, but also chagrined to find his phone forgotten in the office. He could only speed up, attempt to block her.
Bella feverishly drove the car to the beach. Finally, the car stopped. Kevin then was relieved. He hurriedly opened the car door, walked over to her standing on the beach, softly said, “Bella, do you have to be like this?”
“So tell me, what should I do?”
Bella turned around and practically yelled. She was really sad and couldn’t stop her husband watching attentively other woman eat her noodles.
“You can do whatever you want. You just don’t do anything that worries me like you just did. You drove so fast. Don’t you want to kill yourself, do you?”
“Yes. I just don’t want to kill myself. Do you care about me? How did you treat me just now in full view of the public?”
“There’s nothing between me and Freya. I just don’t want you to embarrass her in public.”
“So you’re embarrassing me in public. I can’t speak in front of your beloved, right?”
“We can go home and talk about what we have to say. It’s not like that we have to do it in front of all those people.”
“You’re just defending her. You’re afraid people will mistake her for a mistress. I thought you’d have a worse attitude towards a woman who has brought you humiliation than I did. It seems I’m wrong. I’m the only one who’s angry with her hurting you.”
“Bella, I appreciate your anger on my behalf, but will you let me take care of my own business?”
“How do you fix it yourself? I’m fully convinced that you’ll be stuck in the mire of your first love again before you can fix it.”
“Do you have so little faith in me? Do you think those promises I made to you were just a whim?”
“Isn’t that so? Dare you say that you have not wavered a little at Freya’s sudden return?”
Kevin rubbed his black hair in frustration, “What exactly do I have to say to convince you that Freya and I are impossible? I know very well who is the woman I should take responsibility for. Tonight’s meeting doesn’t mean anything. Even if Freya told me that she will come back to me, I won’t be wavered because you are the one I should cherish the most.”
Bella slowly squatted down and sobbed with her hands on her knees. Kevin saw her crying sadly, and inevitably felt sad. He squatted in front of her and hugged her, “Well, don’t cry, no one can take away what belongs to you. I will never abandon you who never left me all the way to the light in those darkest days. ”
Promises were the most beautiful vows in the heavens, but sometimes they couldn’t appease a person. Bella was uneasy because she knew better than Kevin himself what kind of influence Freya had in his heart.
“You don’t abandon me doesn’t mean that your heart will always be mine.”
Bella wiped her tears off and fiercely asked, “To be honest, do you really not love Freya at all anymore? When she offered to meet you, couldn’t you control your urge to see her?”
Kevin was startled. He didn’t deny that Bella had touched his sore point. He was equally surprised that she could see through his thoughts at a glance.
His silence was the most sincere answer. Bella stood up, not wanting to ask anything more.
She turned to leave, walked a few steps but then stopped, glumly said, “Being disappointed in love is not scary. What’s scary is that you keep staying on that day …”
This time, Kevin did not catch up with her again, but standing alone by the shore in the cold wind, pondering her word ‘do you really not love Freya at all’.
He sat in the car to spend a long night, and after dawn, he drove the car directly to the office, saw the sky blue letter paper scattered on the ground, and knew that Bella came to the office last night to look for him.
Feeling very guilty, he picked up the cell phone by his desk and dialed her number, but it sounded, “Sorry, the number you dialed is off. Please redial later…”
He was thinking for a few seconds and called home, where his sister answered the phone, “Hello? The Cloud Mansion, who’s this?”
“Lena, it’s me. Is Bella up?”
“I don’t know. What did you do last night? Why didn’t you come back all night?”
“I have something to tell her, so go get her on the phone.”
“Oh okay …”
Lena put off the phone and came to Bella’s room. After knocking on the door for a long time, no one answered. She pushed the door directly into the room, but saw that the quilt on the bed was neatly folded. She called a few more times, but no one answered. When she was confused, she got a glimpse of a message on the tea table beside the sofa. She picked it up and looked at it in confusion. She was shocked and ran downstairs. She picked up the phone and yelled, “Kevin, it’s doomed! My sister-in-law ran away from home … “
