Louis was stunned, “Can you see this?”
“I’m not sharp-eyed, but your affection is too obvious.”
“Then what do you want?”
“If you like her, I will…”
“Come on, she’s already married and in love with her husband.”
“What’s wrong with a married woman? I was married back then, but I’m single now.”
Louis rolled his eyes, “Do you think you’re something?”
Celeste shook her head in embarrassment, “That’s not true. I just want to say that it’s okay to get married and divorced.”
“You think everyone is just like you and Dad, casually getting married and then casually getting divorced.”
“Wasn’t she only married a short time ago? She has no kids yet, right?”
“Nope.”
“Great, it seems that you’ll have a good chance and I’ll help you.”
“No, your kindness is appreciated, but it’s best not to even think about such a wicked thing.”
Ringing…
Bella’s phone on the coffee table rang, and Celeste picked it up and suddenly her face fell.
“Who is it?”
Louis was puzzled. When he saw Kevin calling, he asked Celeste in confusion, “What’s wrong?”
“Could Kevin be Patrick’s son?”
“Yes.”
Celeste became even more gloomy, “So, Bella is the daughter-in-law of Patrick and Blanche?”
“Yes.”
The phone fell to the floor, and Louis asked in a panic, “Mom, what’s going on?”
“Listen, Louis, I promise you that I will make Bella yours.”
“Don’t mention it.”
Louis was quite unhappy. Although he liked Bella and longed to have her, but using some improper means to get love was not what he wanted.
“It’s not for you, but for me.”
“What?”
Louis raised his eyebrows.
Bella had already come out of the bathroom, and looked at the wall clock, “Auntie, it’s getting late. I really have to go.”
Celeste turned calm,”Then I let Louis give you a ride.”
“No, I can take a taxi back.”
“Just walk you to the door.”
Celeste poked her son, and Louis got up and said, “Let’s go. Out of the Tranquil Sea Villa, you go your way, and I’ll go mine.”
Bella was relieved. If she let Louis send her home, Kevin would be angry.
They walked outside by side. It was unusually dark. A long boulevard was the exit to the Tranquil Sea Villa. The boulevard was lined with poplar trees on both sides. The branches were blown and creaked.
“It might rain tonight.”
Louis was the first to break the silence as he looked up into the sky.
“Well yes, when I looked at the weather forecast this morning, it also said it would rain.”
“It’s unbelievable. My mother has only been back for less than ten days and she’s meeting the person I like.”
Bella was embarrassed, “Don’t say that, I…”
“I know you’re married. You can choose who you like, but you can’t control who I like.”
She sighed. What an evil fate!
“Did your father and your mother… divorce?”
Bella asked carefully for fear of making Louis sad.
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know about this, and last time I said sarcastically that it’s good that you have a father who is an official.”
Louis didn’t mind and smiled, “Never mind. My dad and my mom divorced early. Not many people know about it. It’s not a big deal.”
“How long have they been divorced?”
“When I was eight years old.”
Louis had an indifferent smile on his lips, but looked sad, “When I was eight years old, they got divorced. My mother went to France by herself, so I lived with my father.”
“Did you hate her?”
“Hate?” He mocked at himself, “What’s the use of hate? We will never understand someone else’s emotions, even if that person is your closest relative.”
Bella glanced at Louis worriedly, finally understanding that in this world, she wasn’t the only one who was unfortunate, but everyone had their sadness that others couldn’t know.
Kevin impatiently stared at his watch, knowing that Bella’s car was sent for maintenance today. He ended his social party early and came over to pick her up. He just called once and she didn’t answer, so he stopped calling, ready to give her a surprise.
He glanced forward, and suddenly froze. He saw Bella talking to that man he hates the most a hundred meters in front of him.
The wind rose and Louis quickly took off his jacket and thoughtfully draped it over Bella.
Bella wanted to refuse, “No, I’m not cold.”
“Just put it on.”
Louis pressed her shoulders to prevent her from taking it off and said lovingly, “Don’t be burdened. You can refuse my love, but not my clothes.”
Ringing…
Bella’s phone suddenly rang. She immediately answered, “Hello? Honey.”
“Have you finished?”
“Yes.”
“When are you coming home?”
“I’m going right back.”
“Did someone give you a ride? Do you want me to pick you up?”
“Don’t bother. I’ll just take a cab.”
“Oh good.”
Kevin paused for a moment, “Is it a meal with that Auntie? Have you seen her son?”
Bella was startled, and to avoid Kevin’s jealousy, she casually replied, “No.”
Not intentionally lying to him, she just thought that from now on, there would be no more interaction with Celeste.
She had to be considerate of Kevin’s feelings.
“Hello? Kevin? Why don’t you talk?”
Bella was confused, when a familiar siren suddenly sounded. Then a headlight shot towards her. She slowly looked up at the front. Her face was pale after seeing the person sitting in the car.
