Chapter 61 Made Him Sad

Book:The CEO's Seventh Bride Published:2024-5-1

In the evening, Kevin returned home and asked Bella casually, “Where did you go today?”
“I went to meet a distant relative. You called me, right?”
Kevin was slightly surprised that Bella would confess, “Well, yes, he said it was a wrong number.”
“I went to the bathroom at that time. He was borrowing money from me and I wouldn’t lend it to him, so he got a little angry and said this.”
“Oh, that’s it.”
Kevin let out a sigh of relief and smiled gently at her, “I was worried you’d lie to me before I asked. You know that I hate people lying to me.”
“Well.”
He patted her on the shoulder and said emphatically, “I don’t see you as an outsider anymore, so remember, don’t lie to me about anything, or I’ll be disappointed.”
“Okay.”
Having gotten through peacefully, Bella did not relax, but was even more worried than ever. And she felt hat Richard would seriously threaten her getting along with Kevin.
This night, Bella stood in front of the window for a whole night. After some deep thinking, finally before the dawn, she painfully made a choice.
She didn’t want to live in the darkness anymore. She would save herself and even Kevin.
After breakfast, she went to her mother’s cemetery and placed a bunch of lilies in front of the monument. Lilies were her mother’s favorite flower. Back then her mother fell in love with Wilson with a truckload of lilies, thus she led a miserable life.
“Mom, today I’m here to ask you for forgiveness. Please forgive me. I want to give up avenging you for the first time because of a man…”
Bella kneeled down, caressing her mother’s photo, “You must be disappointed in me. How could I be so selfish and forget the pain you had experienced. I’m sorry, mother. I’m really sorry. I really have no way to use that man to achieve my purpose. Perhaps from the beginning, he is my nemesis. I told myself again and again to let him fully trust me, and then use him to destroy Wilson, but so far, I have not done so. Because I don’t think that the man is as traumatized as I am. It is because we are all the same people that I can’t bear to hurt him. I feel heartache better than anyone else …”
Bella burst out into tears. Avenging her mother’s death was her wish since childhood. She had planned for many years to achieve this wish, but now she suddenly had to give up. Not to mention her mother couldn’t accept it, even she couldn’t forgive herself.
She never understood why her mother was so fond of her father back then. But on that day, Kevin told her, because he was not a normal person, so he wanted you to live a normal life. Then she understood her mother.
Love came quietly for no reason. Even though you knew you would be injured, you still loved bravely.
Knocking three times, she got up and left. Her firm back indicated that for the first time in 24 years, she wanted to bravely lead a different life, to take a different road and to be a different self.
When she came down from the mountain, she went to a bakery and ordered a cake for Kevin. Although she had been in a low mood since last night, she hadn’t forgotten that today was Kevin’s birthday.
After settling on a cake, she went to a nearby shopping mall to buy a gift for him.
On the way home, she secretly resolved to confess everything to Kevin tonight, her initial purpose, and the different feelings she now had for him.
Patrick and Blanche also went out early in the morning. When Bella arrived home, there was no one in the house. She found the housekeeper and asked, “Sampson, where are Master and Madam?”
The housekeeper replied respectfully, “Master and Madam have gone to attend the funeral of the chairman of the Myron Group and will probably return in the afternoon.”
“Oh, good.”
She nodded, turned to go upstairs, and sent a text message when she reached her room, “When will you be back in the afternoon?”
Kevin briefly replies a note, “Something wrong?”
“Sure.”
“What is it?”
“Keep it a secret for now.”
He sent a speechless expression, accompanied by two words, “Try to.”
For the rest of the day, Bella was apprehensive. She didn’t know if Kevin could forgive her for why she had married him, and more importantly, she wasn’t sure if he loved her in his heart.
At four o’clock in the afternoon, she went to the cake shop. The cake was already done, snow white cream on top of the jam clearly engraved with the letter LOVE. If Kevin was sensitive, he would fail to understand her feelings.
The cake was set, and the gift was chosen. She returned to the Cloud Mansion and was worried. Her in-laws, Lena and Kevin still did not come back.
She waited in the living room for a while, feeling a little bored, so she went into the kitchen to prepare dinner. Since she had married, she had never cooked. Not that she was lazy or that she wouldn’t, but Blanche didn’t allow her.
Blanche said that the daughter-in-law of the Jones-Sharps was just as used to love as her daughter, so she had always been on equal footing with Lena in this family.
“Young lady, you should go out, just leave it to us.”
When the two maids in charge of cooking saw her tying her apron and chopping and washing the vegetables, they were nervous and at a loss for words.
“It’s okay. You have the night off, go rest.”
“That won’t do. If Blanche finds out, we’ll definitely get scolded …”
“Don’t worry. I’ll explain it to Blanche. Regardless of your business, I want to cook.”
The maids saw that she had made up her mind and really had no choice but to let her be and acting as her assistants.
If Bella was a treasure in her in-laws’ house, then she was definitely lowly in her mother’s house. She was served with meals by the maids here, but in her mother’s house, she served the whole family.
The maids were surprised by her good cooking skills, skilled movements. Her mastery of cooking skills was very exquisite. Less than an hour, she made dished both visually appealing and flavorous.
Sampson hurriedly came to the living room after hearing the maids’ report, skimmed the cake on the table, and said to Bella, “Young lady, young master he…”
Before he could finish, the family came back together.
“Mom and Dad, you’re back.”
Bella came forward to greet them, taking the jacket from Blanche.
“It was exhausting.”
Patrick said, “It smells good. Is dinner ready?”
“Yes, dad.”
Bella smiled and nodded, skimming Kevin, “I personally cook to celebrate Kevin’s birthday.”
Her words caused everyone freeze, and Lena rushed to her, saying urgently to her ear, “Didn’t I tell you everything? Why do you still do that?”
“What did you tell me?” Bella was a bit confused.
Lena slapped her head, “I was trying to tell you that day, but you left before I could finish!”
“What’s wrong?”
She frowned, feeling bad.
Kevin stood up and walked over to the table, picking up the cake on the table and popping it on the floor. The LOVE engraved by the jam was not seen by him after all, and the cake fell to pieces.
“What are you doing? Are you crazy?”
She angrily rushed over and gave Kevin a shove, sad to see her love trampled.
“Didn’t I tell you I’m not celebrating my birthday. Why do you always have to be so smug?!”
Kevin looked even angrier than she was, “Can’t you ask us before you want to do something? Are you happy to expose someone else’s scars?”
After he roared and decisively left, Bella stubbornly held back her tears until her in-laws came over-…
“I’m sorry to have put you through this, Bella. You mustn’t blame him. It was a humiliating day for him, and the last thing he wants to remember.”
“Why?”
She tried to suppress the urge to cry and choked out a question.
Lena sadly answered for her parents, “Because today is the day Freya abandoned my brother. Three years ago, she agreed to my brother’s marriage proposal and promised to be his most beautiful bride on his birthday, but no one ever thought that it would turn out that way…”
Bella was shocked. It was because of that woman again.
“After that for three years, my brother stopped celebrating his birthday. We deliberately ignored it and didn’t dare to mention the word birthday in front of him, just in case he would be sad.”
“I’m sorry, Mom and Dad. I didn’t know what happened three years ago, and I’m sorry for making you guys sad.”
Her in-laws were busy comforting her, “It’s not your fault. It’s definitely not your fault. We don’t blame you at all for not knowing.”
She squatted down and silently packed the cake into the box. Seeing the red jam that was dotted with stars, she finally shed tears.
“Just let the maid clean up, let’s eat.”
Blanche heartily pulled her up to the table with Lena. Facing a sumptuous dinner, everyone was worried. In order not to add burden to her, even though they were sad, they also forced a smile and praised her cooking skills.
Bella looked at her in-laws as well as Lena who was eating with grudge, and suddenly put down her chopsticks, and ran out…
