It was late, the originally warm wind was becoming cooler, and Kevin looked at the woman in front of him from a distance. He had only been walking for a few minutes, but she was asleep on the table.
Slowly, he took off his suit jacket and draped it over her body, then lifted one of her arms and left the night stall.
Reaching the car, he pulled the door open and tucked her in, breathing softly. He ruffled his hair listlessly, “I must be out of my mind, minding this woman’s business.”
He got in from the other side and reached out to tie her seat belt, when Bella had opened her mesmerizing eyes and asked vaguely, “What are you doing so close to me?”
“Don’t move.”
Kevin impatiently glared at her and continued.
It was hard to tie seat belt, and was about to move back when her soft arms suddenly held around his neck. He froze, facing the woman in front of him. Her clear eyes were as pure and flawless as seawater. Because they were so close, even each other’s breathing could be clearly felt.
Bella grinned and nodded, “Although you don’t have a good temper, you are still good-looking.”
She moved her hand to his angular face, unbridledly caressing his face. He was actually stupid for a moment, allowing her to touch him as if he were a pet.
His face was touched by her, and he thought she had finally ended. But she leaned on his shoulders, Kevin rudely pushed her away, rolled down the window, and stuck his head out the window. Then he was sobered up after blown by the wind.
He started the engine and drove away. At the moment when he was about to arrive at home, he heard a small voice, “Do not fall in love with me. And I won’t fall in love with you.”
He parked the car and helped her to the living room, which was brightly lit. All except for her father hadn’t even rested yet.
“Oh my God, what’s going on here?”
Blanche was startled and came forward, smelling the strong smell of wine, “Has Bella been drinking?”
“Yes.”
Kevin responded casually and headed straight for the stairs.
“Are you drinking together? Why aren’t you answering any of your phone calls?”
She asked Kevin and Bella’s back, but no one was paying attention to her anymore. Lena came over to the thief and said, “Mom, there’s a situation.”
“What situation?”
“Did you just not see my brother’s clothes draped over Bella? It’s impossible for Bella to snatch his clothes away when she’s that drunk, so Kevin took the initiative to give her the clothes!”
“You mean, your brother cares about Bella?”
“Correct!”
“Good.” Blanche was so happy, “It seems that my little grandson will be coming soon.”
As soon as Lena came up with a quirky idea, “Mom, since you want to have your grandson so badly, why don’t you…”
“How about what?”
“Give my brother some drugs, and maybe tonight, you’ll have your little grandson, my little nephew.”
“Good idea.”
Blanche was thrilled and did not complain about Lena’s words.
“But will your brother be furious afterwards?”
“Ouch, all right. As soon as it’s done, it doesn’t matter that he gets angry. You are his mother. What are you afraid?”
Blanche listened to her daughter, and became bold. Last week she let people from abroad to buy imported philter, but didn’t dare to use concerning his son’s temper. These days, Kevin treated Bella much better. How about using philter today?
Kevin only threw Bella into her bed. Lena carried a cup of boiled water into the room.
“Brother, you’re exhausted. Drink a glass of water.”
“Thanks.” He took it, a little tired indeed.
Seeing that he was about to drink all the water, Lena was secretly happy. But unexpectedly Bella who was lying on the bed suddenly got up and pounced over, snatched the cup of water, and said in a daze, “Give me a drink, I’m dying of thirst…”
“You can’t drink-”
She stretched out a hand to stop her, and in panic, she slapped the glass of water onto the floor, cracking it in pieces.
They looked at each other, and Kevin was surprised and asked Lena, “Do you poisoned it?”
“No, no.”
“Then why can’t her drink it?”
“It was prepared for you not for Bella…”
“Don’t you stand with this woman? Why do you change your attitude?”
Lena swallowed her saliva and smiled, “No, I only stand aside you. I’m going to sleep, good night …”
Without waiting for Kevin to say something, she ran away quickly.
The next morning, when Bella came downstairs, she felt Blanche and Lena looking strange, as if they had done something guilty.
“Bella, I asked the kitchen to make you a bowl of hangover-cure soup, so drink it while it’s hot.”
“Okay.”
Bella began to drink and peeped at the man beside. Seeing that he was calm, Bella was no longer worried that she had any disorderly behavior when she was drunk last night.
The phone in her pocket vibrated a few times. She put down the bowl, looked at the caller ID, hesitated a little, and got up, “Mom and Dad, I’m going to take a call.”
A few moments later, she returned and Blanche asked, “Who is it?”
“My sister.”
“Oh, is something the matter?”
“It’s no big deal. My parents missed me and asked me to go back for dinner.”
Patrick interjected, “Then let Kevin accompany you. It’s some days since you went back.”
“I have social intercourse tonight.” Kevin declined in one breath.
“No, I’ll just go back alone. I might stay overnight at home.”
Blanche nodded, “Fine, if you haven’t been back for so long, you must have a lot to say to your mother.”
Kevin mockingly snorted. Although his voice was light, Bella still heard it. Her expression froze, but she said nothing, had breakfast and went to work.
She walked easily to the bus stop. Suddenly a car pulled up beside her, its windows opened, and he looked usually jocular, as he deliberately tried to embarrass her, “Will your parents miss you? You’re the one who thinks that, aren’t you?”
He asked her, but did not wait for her answer. He sarcastically laughed, driving the car long away.
Bella stood in place and was awkward. Last night they got together to drink, but today he coldly sneered at her. Was he schizophrenic?
Since the marriage, in addition to going back to her home, this was the second time Bella back to her home.
Into the living room, Colin was teasing the snow-white Persian cat in her bosom. Seeing her enter the door, she was first stunned, then ironically said, “The young lady of the rich and powerful family comes back without saying anything.”
“Gillian said you guys called me to come back.”
Bella faintly answered, accustomed to Colin’s sarcastic tune.
“No, we didn’t ask you to come back, we just wanted you to come back, and we didn’t have the honor. You’re not what you used to be.”
Bella knew that Gillian had lied. Her own father or stepmother had never really wanted her back.
“Where’s Gillian?”
She’d like to see the purpose of Gillian tricking her back who had been taking pleasure in torturing her.
“Upstairs.”
When Colin reluctantly said, Bella turned around and went up.
Reaching Gillian’s room, she knocked on the door, and the same arrogant voice as Colin’s came out of the room, “Come in.”
Bella pushed the door in and opened the door to ask, “Why did you call me back?”
“Ouch sis, I miss you.”
“Come on, Kevin’s not here. Don’t pretend, try to be less disgusting.”
“You…”
Gillian was angry, but she wanted to ask for her help, so she relented, “Sister, do not exclude me so okay. Although we are not born by the same mother, but we have the same father. How can two people with the same blood flowing through their bodies be so distant?”
Honestly, it really gave Bella goose bumps, “What the hell? Or I’ll go.”
“Oh. Don’t go, I’ll say.”
Gillian hurriedly stopped her and begged, “I’ve been so bored at home lately. I want to go stay at your house for two days, okay?”
Bella stared in amazement, “Will you not bored when you go to my house?”
“Yes, a change of scenery will definitely do good. I heard that the Cloud Mansion is one of the top luxury residences in B City. I really want to see it with my own eyes.”
Gillian was the same as her mother. When they needed help, they did their best to please people, or they kicked others away as far as they could, and it was best for others to stay out of their sight for the rest of their lives.
“May I? I’ll take that as a yes if you don’t say anything.”
“I won’t agree.”
Bella turned away from her with a terse rejection of her request.
“Don’t blame me for messing up if you won’t agree.”
Bella chased after her and took out her master card.
“What do you want?”
“I’m going to the Cloud Mansion anyway. If you don’t take me there, I’ll just run off on my own, and then what I say can be up to my mood.”
Bella’s fingers trembled. She knew that Gillian could do what she said. She pondered for a momenta and nodded, “Good, since you want to go so longingly, let’s go.”
“That’s right. Smart guys know the ins and outs… Hey, you wait for me…”
