Blanche also came from a famous family. Conrad was her second brother’s kid. Among many siblings, she had the deepest relationship with her second brother, and naturally she was extraordinarily fond of this nephew. But when her nephew ruined her son’s happiness, as an aunt, she was painful that no one else could understand.
“So, your son’s frequent marriages and divorces are actually a game for fun, right? He is seeking revenge on the woman who abandoned her.”
“Yes, Freya and Conrad’s betrayal gave him a severe psychological blow, and since then, he has committed a disease called PTSD, which is commonly known medically as Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. For a long time, he had a very hard time, and as his family, we had just as hard a time. He gave up on himself, and couldn’t sleep all night, and when he closed his eyes, he would see the woman he loved leave him…”
“Didn’t you take him to a doctor?”
Bella was tearful, and she suddenly realized what an unforgivable mistake she had made.
“It is an anxiety. He should seek his salve where he gets your sore. Patrick hired the best psychiatrist for him from abroad. He has rarely been ill in the past two years, and we all thought he was fine. But we never thought that he would be ill again.”
Blanche said and choked, painfully watching her son never get over the shadow of his past. She was heartbroken.
“Mom, I’m sorry…”
Bella looked down in guilt, “It’s all my fault. I said something provoking him, and that’s why he…”
“What did you say?”
She truthfully told Blanche what happened. Blanche did not blame her, but instead comforted, “It’s fine. We’re not going to blame you. It’s our fault. We should not have hidden from you in the first place. You are a kind girl. If you knew that he had been hurt like that, I believe that you would not say overly aggressive language anyway.”
They chatted for a long time before returning to their respective rooms. Bella was exhausted, but not sleepy. She went straight to Kevin’s bedside, detailing his sleeping face. It was hard to imagine, such a proud man with such a humble past.
Sitting beside him, she apologized again, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know that you had been betrayed by the woman you love, that’s why I misinterpreted your meaning. Thinking that you were referring to my mother by saying the goods, I was so bad. How could I say that kind of sharp words to you who had been so hurt… ”
Bella was guilty. She slowly reached out her hand, caressed Kevin’s forehead, got up to go to the bathroom to wring a dry towel, and gently and carefully wiped away sweat stains.
This night was destined to be heavy. At least for Bella, it was heavy. She fell into a boundless wandering. Knowing Kevin’s trauma, she began to ponder if she chose this man to take revenge was too cruel.
She was in daze and the moment she closed her eyes, she thought of the only way to prevent him from being hurt again, which was to not let him fall in love with her. If there were no feelings, no matter how disappointed he was, he wouldn’t be hurt.
Before dawn, Kevin woke up from his dream. He slept so well that he forgot what had happened before he went to sleep.
He drank a lot of wine during last night’s social gathering, and his head still hurt a bit, so he sat up and tried to get out of bed to drink.
As he moved, he felt as if something was pressing down on him. He threw his head back and tried to sober up, only to see that the ungrateful woman was sleeping on his bed…
“Hey, wake up, wake up.”
He pushed her awake rudely and questioned angrily, “Why are you sleeping here? Don’t tell you sleepwalking!”
Bella looked at him in fear, thinking of what happened last night, and replied timidly, “I was accidentally sleeping here.”
He really hadn’t seen such a lousy reason. Kevin snorted in mockery, “If you accidentally slept in my bed today, will you accidentally sleep in another man’s bed tomorrow?”
There was still a bruise on her wrist that he had pinched out. Bella didn’t think what happened last night was just a dream. He was not like someone suffering from PTSD symptoms, totally a man with sharp tongue.
“Are you okay?” She asked warily.
“What’s wrong with me?”
Kevin raised his eyebrows, forgetting about his illness at all.
“Don’t you really remember at all?”
Bella tactfully reminded, “Last night, you couldn’t help yourself…”
“Did I do something to you last night?”
Knowing he was mistaken, she shook her head in denial, “It’s not what you think, it’s…”
“So it doesn’t matter.”
Kevin lifted the covers off the bed and went to the wardrobe and ordered, “Get out, I need to change clothes.”
“I know.”
After weighing carefully, Bella decided to confess to him.
“What do you know?”
“Your past.”
For a whole minute, Kevin stood still, like losing his soul, unable to say even a complete sentence.
“Very well. Then you can file a divorce suit in court, get a substantial compensation, and leave me.”
“I won’t leave, even if you are the devil.”
Bella was concerned about him and had nothing to do with any selfishness. At this time, even without love, he should not be able to accept a woman leaving him.
Because that would remind him of the departure of another woman.
Blanche said that she was the first, out of seven wives, who had made him sick.
“Now that you know all about it, aren’t you afraid that I won’t be able to control myself and kill you one day?”
Kevin suddenly turned around and yanked her right wrist, “It will more than a small piece of bruise if you insist on staying.”
“It’s okay, I don’t mind. Besides, you don’t have to hurt me. You kept pushing me away from you last night, which means that subconsciously, you don’t want to hurt anyone.”
There was a kind of person who still wanted to cover up himself even if they were seen through the mind.
Kevin was such a person. He angrily roared at Bella, “Don’t overflow your sympathy to me, I don’t need it!”
“Yes, I’m overflowing with sympathy, but my sympathy is only for what happened to you, not the person you are.”
“It’s the same. No matter what you sympathize with, I don’t need it. Now pack up and leave here right now. I’ll send the divorce papers to your house.”
Bella looked up in shock, “Is it necessary to be so serious? I didn’t do anything wrong. I just accidentally found out about your past.”
“That’s enough. I don’t want to live with someone who knows that I’ve been abandoned by a woman and pities me.”
When Kevin said this, he was so miserable. He seemed so heartbreaking to Bella.
He slumped to the bathroom. Bella suddenly strode forward, embraced him from behind, and said leisurely, “Maybe you think you’re abnormal, but compared to you who suffers from PTSD, I’m not better than you since I suffer from claustrophobia.”
Kevin stopped and they were speechless for a time. After a while, Bella was the first to break the ice, “What I said is true, not to comfort you, nor is it a lie made up to make you comfortable. I do suffer from claustrophobia, afraid of being locked up in a dark environment, and helplessness every day! I am not superior to sympathize with you who is in the same position as me. Kevin, please believe that we are the same.”
He took away the hand around his waist, didn’t ask her the reason for her claustrophobia, didn’t ask anything, and silently entered the bathroom.
Bella waited outside the door and when he came out. He said, “You have the right to make any choice you want, but no one will be held accountable for the choices you make.”
It implicated that she could choose to stay, but it was no one’s business whether she lived well or poorly after staying.
When it was time for breakfast, the atmosphere at the table was extremely serious. Everyone was silent about what had happened last night.
Kevin only ate a little, then excused himself with an early meeting in the company. The family had no appetite. Blanche ordered the maid to put away the plate, and said, “Bella, come over and talk to Mom.”
Bella followed her to the living room to sit down on the sofa, and Lena also came over.
“You know all about my son’s situation. I’m sure you thought about it for a long time last night. Tell me, what are your plans?”
She knew her concern and answered with conviction, “I’m not leaving him.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Even if he hurts you and snubs you, you won’t leave?”
“Yes, I won’t leave.”
Blanche was relieved and asked, “Then can you promise your mother one more thing?”
“What is it?”
“Will you hurry up and have a baby? A child is the link that holds a family together, and as long as you have a child. Even if he can’t get rid of the emotional trauma yet, one day, his heart will definitely open up for you.”
“This… “Bella was in a dilemma.
“Is it hard?”
Blanche was a little disappointed.
Lena who had been silent spoke up easily, “Mom, you are simply forcing her. She can’t give birth to a child on her own. It’s already good for Bella to promise not to leave my brother. You still want her to have a child. Do you want Bella to rape my brother?”
