Chapter 511 I’ll Bring Her Back to You

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Leonardo gave Stanley a sideways glance, his murky eyes even darker now as if they had been dyed with black ink. “Do you expect me to give up on my woman and not take possession of her?”
Stanley froze for a second and smiled. “You have a point, Mr. Emerson. If there’s nothing else, I have got to go. Someone is waiting for me outside.”
Leonardo knew that he said those words on purpose. When he mentioned “someone is waiting for me”, was he obviously not referring to Summer?
Leonardo was never known for his kind heart. Since Stanley had made his stance clear, Leonardo would not be himself if he acted nice.
“Maybe you should just let her wait,” Leonardo sneered as he got up and walked out.
At first, Stanley did not understand what Leonardo meant.
However, when a few bodyguards came in the next moment, he finally put two and two together.
Leonardo had ordered his bodyguards to stop him from getting out.
Stanley suddenly realized that he had thought too highly of Leonardo.
He could no longer maintain the smile on his face.
“Do you also treat Summer like this, Leonardo?” Was this not false imprisonment?
Leonardo ignored him. “Send Mr. Bates home only after the dinner is over,” he told the bodyguards.
He then dug his hands into the pockets of his dress pants as he sauntered out of the room.
As the door was closed, a bodyguard looked impassively at Stanley. “Your mobile phone, please, Mr. Bates.”
Leonardo really had everything well thought out.
Stanley took a deep breath before he handed over his mobile phone.
Following Leonardo’s instruction, the bodyguard found Summer’s number and sent a message to her using the phone.
“What did you just send?” Stanley noticed it and frowned.
The bodyguard just glanced at him and said nothing. He did not return the phone to Stanley either.
Stanley clenched his fists, then released them again.

Summer felt her mobile phone vibrate inside her handbag.
She took it out and saw that Stanley had sent her a text message.
“I have something to attend to. I’ll leave first.”
There was nothing out of the ordinary about the text message.
Summer looked at the message for a while, then looked in the direction of the function hall’s entrance.
She spotted Leonardo walking in, but Stanley was not following him.
Jessica had also seen Leonardo. “Where’s Dr. Bates?” she asked Summer.
“He said that he has something on, so he’s leaving first.” Summer did not look at her.
“What’s the hurry? He didn’t even come to tell us in person before he went off,” Jessica said listlessly.
Leonardo did not look their way but walked straight toward Michael and sat down beside him.
Still looking down at her mobile phone, Summer found Stanley’s number and called him.
However, the receiver hung up as soon as the call got through.
Shortly after, she received another text message. “Driving now.”
Summer frowned as she stared at Leonardo. After a while, she pulled back her gaze and looked down, her mind starting to wander off.
If Leonardo really wanted to harm Stanley, he would not have taken Stanley right in front of her.
Therefore, it was likely that Stanley really had some important things to attend to.
Perhaps due to Amber’s presence, basically no woman approached Leonardo.
Most who went up to him were bigwigs in the business world. Even then, no one wanted to displease Amber because of her background, which was even more prominent than theirs.
“It’s getting late. Shall we leave now?” Summer put her mobile phone back into her handbag and stood up.
“Now?” Jessica was reluctant to leave because she did not have enough fun yet.
Summer quickly glanced in Leonardo’s direction. “I’m worried that Carl can’t handle Rosie.”
“Whose kid is this?” someone was heard saying as soon as Summer’s voice trailed off.
“This little girl is so adorable.”
Just as Summer was about to turn around, she heard a familiar, childish voice.
“Mommy!”
The voice belonged to Rosie.
Summer looked back and saw Rosie standing among the crowd, her eyes darting around.
“Rosie!” Summer called out to her and walked forward without thinking.
However, someone had gone up to Rosie before her and carried Rosie up. Amber patted Rosie on the head and gently asked, “Why are you here, Rosie?”
Rosie looked at Amber and was transfixed for a second. “Mommy,” she said. After that, her eyes darted around again, searching for Summer.
“How shameless that Amber is!” Jessica could not hold back her disgust when she saw what happened.
Her voice was loud and conspicuous.
Yet, Jessica did not give a hoot. Her face darkened as she quietly rebuked Carl.
Let’s wait and see how she fixes Carl later.
Amber spoke softly, trying to pacify Rosie and blocking her view of Summer. She carried her and scurried toward Leonardo.
Rosie could not find Summer in the sea of people that filled the function hall. Hence, she subconsciously trusted Amber since she still had some impression of her.
Summer stood on the spot and clenched her fists, her face becoming sullen.
Jessica cursed Carl under her breath. “I’ll bring her back to you!”
When Leonardo saw Rosie, he immediately got to his feet and strode toward Amber.
Taking Rosie from Amber, his face was as grave as Summer’s. He gently pressed his hand on Rosie’s head so that she could bury her face in his chest.
The eyes of those who saw the scene nearly popped out of their sockets.
“What’s going on?”
“Did the kid just call Amber ‘Mommy’?”
“The news reports are true! They even have a child now…”
People quietly discussed Rosie, and some looked at Summer, feeling sorry for her.
Everyone thought Summer was unscrupulous for wanting to reconcile with Leonardo.
Now, however, Leonardo had not only “admitted” that Amber was his fiancée, but he also had a child with her.
So, Summer, the ex-wife who was seeking to reconcile with Leonardo, appeared pitiful. Several people even went up to her just to stare.
“Let’s go.” Summer’s lips twisted into a sneer as she dragged Jessica and headed out.
“You’re leaving just like that? I feel like going up and slapping Amber,” Jessica said.
She found Amber even more disgusting than Vicky at that point.
Summer did not look back. “There’s no hurry.”
“Does this mean that you’ve agreed to go up there with me and slap that b*tch?”
A fleeting sense of disdain flashed across Summer’s eyes. “Those who don’t know their place will stew in their own juices.”
