Summer sat down in front of Jessica, but she was not as optimistic as her. “That isn’t necessarily true.”
“Then, what are you going to do?”
“I’m going to let myself cool off for two days, then try to talk to him when I go back to visit Rosie. He did what he did because he lacks his recent memories, hence he doesn’t love me. I shouldn’t be angry because of that, should I?”
Feeling depressed, Summer sighed and closed her eyes. “He wouldn’t cajole me like he used even if I were to get angry with him.”
She did not realize that there was a hint of grief in her voice.
Jessica did not know what to say anymore. She just found Summer and Leonardo’s situation a big headache.
…
It had been three days since Leonardo saw Summer. They parted on bad terms when they last saw each other.
Summer had been showing up around him quite frequently until now. Three days without seeing her made him feel like something was off.
Tim had noticed that Leonardo would come home after work instead of having dinner at Summer’s place. Rosie had also been staying with Leonardo since then. Did something happen between them?
Tim carried a stack of files and placed them in front of Leonardo. “These documents are urgent, Young Master.”
Leonardo was sitting in a chair behind the desk with his hands on the armrests. His eyes were unfocused and emotionless. When he heard Tim’s words, he acknowledged with an “Mhm.”
Tim had some questions in mind, but he kept them to himself.
Just as he was about to leave, Leonardo suddenly spoke to him.
“Tim.”
“Is there anything else, Young Master?”
Tim immediately looked back and replied respectfully.
“Would your wife and you…” Leonardo’s brows were knitted tightly together. He was seemingly a bit irritated. “… quarrel?”
Tim was surprised that Leonardo was asking him such a question. However, he did not show it on his face. “Of course.”
Leonardo seemed to be very interested in the subject. He looked up at Tim with a serious expression. “What would happen after that?”
“She wouldn’t talk to me, and I… wouldn’t talk to her either.” Tim felt a little embarrassed when Leonardo asked him about such a personal thing.
“What would you do, then?”
Leonardo probably did not realize that when he spoke, there was an obvious puzzled look on his face.
Tim was almost sure that Leonardo and Summer had quarreled. It might not have necessarily been a quarrel. Perhaps Leonardo had said something that upset Summer, which resulted in a cold war between them.
“If it wasn’t a matter of principle, I would usually make it up to her. Women are more emotionally sensitive. Sometimes it’s just a way of releasing their stress.”
To Tim, it was good that Leonardo was talking to him about personal matters.
A matter of principle?
The newspaper came to mind and Leonardo’s expression turned cold. “Is Jerome really Summer’s first love?”
He had lost his memory, but he knew relevant information.
Before Summer, he had never gotten together with a woman. In contrast, Summer had a first love.
Beads of cold sweat started to form on Tim’s forehead because that was a really tricky question.
Leonardo would get angry if he did not tell the truth, but he would get even angrier if he told the truth.
Leonardo was smart enough to know the answer when Tim hesitated.
“I got it. Leave me now,” he hissed.
Tim sighed quietly. Just as he was about to leave, something came to mind.
“Young Master, I’ve found a few reputable hypnotists…” Tim checked Leonardo’s expression.
Speaking of that, Leonardo’s face turned grave. “Test those hypnotists. Bring them to me only if they can seal away people’s memories.”
“Understood.” Tim bowed his head slightly. “There’s something else, Young Master.”
“Out with it, quickly.” Leonardo frowned.
“It’s about Stanley. He’s a doctor who majored in psychology. He lived abroad until three years ago when the detective agency invited him—”
“Get straight to the point.” Leonardo cut him off.
“Stanley is a more reputable expert in psychology abroad. His time in the country is too short to make an impact, but in a sense, psychology and hypnosis are of the same field. Do you want to test him out, Young Master?”
There were no obvious changes in Leonardo’s expression, and even his voice was soft. “Do you think I want to see him to test him out?”
The fewer emotions he showed, the angrier he was. Leonardo had to be furious at that moment.
Tim would not have made such a suggestion in the past. After all, he knew that Summer was of paramount importance to Leonardo. Leonardo had already shown utmost mercy by not getting rid of Stanley.
Since Summer and Leonardo were still knee-deep in their relationship, Tim thought that it might be a good idea. He just wanted Leonardo to recover his memories as soon as possible.
Tim dared not speak further. He just hung his head low as he left the room.
Leonardo massaged his brows, his expression indistinguishable when he pulled back his hand.
…
For the next two days, Summer would only visit Rosie when Leonardo was not at home.
There was no fixed time to her visits. It could be in the morning or even in the afternoon when she was sure that she could avoid bumping into Leonardo.
She was not avoiding Leonardo just for the sake of avoiding him. It was because she had not figured out how to face him. What was she supposed to say if she saw him? How was she supposed to reconcile with him?
However, the bodyguards surprisingly did not stop her from visiting Rosie.
When Leonardo kicked her out of the mansion, she thought he would no longer allow her to see Rosie. Luckily, that was not the case.
She planned to visit Rosie this afternoon and had even bought a small cake for her daughter on the way there. But when she arrived in front of the house, the bodyguards stopped her.
“We’re sorry, Ms. Jarrett, you can’t go in.”
Summer was startled. “Why?”
“We are just following orders.”
So, it was Leonardo who gave the order.
Was it because Leonardo had forgotten to give them the order that she was able to visit Rosie for the past two days? It seemed like that was highly possible.
Summer turned around and went to the side to call Leonardo.
