Chapter 388 Not Essential

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Stanley’s work only ended at six in the evening.
As he packed up, he asked Summer. “Don’t need to head back to cook tonight, what do you want to eat?”
“Anything will do.” Summer was disinterested, and it was nothing but a DNA comparison in her mind.
Stanley nodded. “All right.”
Before they left, Stanley’s assistant counter checked his schedule with him again.
Only then did Summer know how busy Stanley was, and it was no wonder he often worked overtime till late at night.
When the two got to the car, Summer finally asked him, “Are you so busy every day?”
“I got off on time today. Not that busy.” Stanley started the car as he turned to her.
Summer turned her head and looked at Stanley’s clinic through the car window.
The three-story bungalow was small and quiet, yet there were many patients visiting.
The place should have been quite expensive, and Stanley was probably really rich.
She recalled the woman she saw at the Golden Cauldron in the afternoon named Vicky.
Later, because she ran into Leonardo, she had no chance to ask Jessica about Vicky.
Vicky and Jessica were both entertainers, and she could definitely find something about her online.
Summer took out her phone and typed in Vicky into the web browser.
A large amount of news and information immediately popped up.
“Vicky’s bold revealing dress…”
“… Vicky’s new drama costume exposed!”
“Why hasn’t Vicky f*cked off from the entertainment industry yet.”
“Vicky may be able to squeeze herself into Four Dan Actresses…”
Some of the media were supportive of Vicky and were obvious marketing materials because the content was pretty much the same.
However, the comments left by netizens were seemingly stomping on her or cursing her.
Even so, Vicky was still doing well in the entertainment industry.
Summer found Vicky’s Weibo and saw her fan count reaching more than 10 million, and every post had tens of thousands of comments and likes.
That showed that while Vicky was the target of barbs, her popularity was still high.
She looked at Vicky’s personal information, and her familial details only wrote that her family owned a company.
So her family ran a business?
Yet, Summer did not feel that she was brought up in a particularly loving family.
Seeing her current situation, she could imagine how her situation at home was.
Upon waking up after three years in a coma, there were no relatives around her besides Stanley.
That is to say, her presence in the Jarrett family was not essential.
Summer took a deep breath, and turned to look at Stanley beside her and could not help but to type his name into the browser.
The moment the results appeared, Summer’s attention was attracted by a post titled “How handsome is the most handsome psychiatrist you have ever met?”.
“All fillers aside, let’s get a picture up first. I have no illness, but when I saw such a handsome psychiatrist, I wished I had some lovesickness!”
Beneath that were several pictures. While unclear, Stanley’s handsome features could still be distinguished.
Summer swiped done before she had even finished reading the post.
All of the comments were literally praising Stanley.
“Give me the address, I want to see the doctor!”
“I have college entrance examination next year, and I’m stressed. Please give me the address of the hospital.”
“Me too…”
“This psychiatrist is not only good-looking but he is also a Professor in Psychology! Plus I heard that he’s still single!”
Summer saw the comment and immediately returned to the main point, and sure enough, she saw the additional information on the main post.
“A doctoral graduate from a famous foreign university, and is very reputable both at home and abroad in the field of psychology… Being such an achiever while being so good-looking…”
Summer looked at Stanley in surprise.
At that moment, Stanley had just parked the car.
“We’re here.”
He turned around and saw Summer staring at him in surprise.
Stanley glanced at her. “What’s wrong?”
As he said that, his gaze fell upon Summer’s phone, and smiled. His expression was somewhat helpless. “I was speaking to my assistant on how quite a number of children had appeared in the clinic all of the sudden recently. So this was it.”
Summer simply lifted her phone towards him. “They are praising you.”
Stanley smiled and did not say anything.
The two got out of the car, and just as they entered the restaurant, a black car drove in slowly, and it was parked beside Stanley’s car.
The car window was slowly lowered, and Vicky’s thickly dolled-up face appeared.
In the three years of Adams’s death, she was a mess during the initial six months and wanted to join him in death countless times.
What kept her alive was the thought of exacting vengeance for Adams.
She had thought Summer, that b*tch was long dead, but who knew that Summer was blessed and did not die.
In those three years, she had thought of many ways to seek vengeance on Leonardo, but she did not even have a chance of getting close to him.
Since Summer was still alive, then she’ll start with Summer.
As Vicky thought of it, a wicked smile appeared on her face.
She had been filming hard lately, and with her condition worsening day by day, her skin naturally did not fare much better.
So she had to put on a thick layer of make-up to mask her dried and pallid-looking face.
As her make-up was so thick, she looked somewhat menacing when she smiled.
Vicky looked at the surveillance camera not too far away and found out this area was a blind spot and would not be caught by the camera.
Nonetheless, she was still very careful and disguised herself with a hat and a coat before getting off the car with a pair of pliers and scissors in hand as she headed towards Stanley’s car.

In the restaurant…
Right after Summer finished ordering, she received the photos Jessica sent her.
The photos Jessica sent her, were photos of the two of them together.
She did look much younger and better in the photos.
“What are you looking at?” Stanley looked up.
Summer pushed her phone before him. “The photos Jessica sent me.”
Stanley took the phone and looked at it for a while before scrolling down, and saw a picture of My Summer making herself ugly. his eyes changed slightly and said. “It seemed like your past life was pretty colorful.”
“What do you mean?” Summer took the phone and had a look. The moment she saw the photo she too was surprised.
Forget about being Summer herself, she would be curious about her past life as a bystander as well.
Having a half-sister from a different mother who hated her to the bone, having an uncaring family, deliberately looking ugly in the past, and having the CEO of Emerson Corporation as the father of her child…
Did all of those things really happen to her?
Summer looked at that photo and nodded as she mumbled to herself, “It is… rather colorful.”
