Tim did not immediately go out.
“Anything else?” Leonardo asked.
Tim’s face appeared serious. “Young Master, the information on these two people are not complete, especially that of Stanley. There is more to this man than meets the eye.”
Back then, when they departed to the small island, paparazzi had taken photographs of Stanley and Summer. As a result, Leonardo had sent him to investigate the man by the name Stanley, whose information was already sketchy at the time. It was as if he came out of thin air. His identity was simple and spotless, which was exactly why the man was even more suspicious. The only unclear thing was his intention.
Leonardo glanced at him and picked up Summer’s file again. “The way I look at it, there is even more to Summer than meets the eye.”
Tim knew Leonardo well and naturally would not miss the hint of interest on Leonardo’s face.
“Yes, the lady isn’t so simple.” Summer was his wife and his daughter’s mother. That was why she was not a nobody. It was also apparent that Leonardo had a personal interest in Summer. Could this be what people called destiny?
Leonardo cocked an eyebrow. “Is that supposed to be tongue in cheek or what?”
Tim said nothing but just bowed his head respectfully.
“Leave me now.” It did not seem like Leonardo wanted to talk to him anymore either.
After Tim left, Leonardo’s mind drifted off. It was not until Rosie grabbed a page of the documents that he snapped out of his daze.
She placed a paper in front of her on the table and mumbled to herself, “I’m going to draw Leonardo.”
Leonardo took a glance and noticed that it was the page that contained Summer’s information. He stopped her and reached out to take back the paper. As well-behaved as Rosie was, it pissed her off big time when someone interrupted her playtime.
“Grr! Give it back!” She pouted as she looked at Leonardo.
Instead of giving her back the paper, Leonardo shoved the sheet that contained Stanley’s details up to Rosie. “Here you go. You can draw on this one. Half of the page is empty.”
“Okay, you’re not in trouble, then,” Rosie raised her chin and said magnanimously. After that, she continued drawing.
Leonardo chuckled, feeling helpless about how he would teach the little one a lesson. In the end, he just patted her on the head, but he had aroused Rosie’s suspicion.
“Ahh! Don’t touch me!” She knitted her eyebrows, seemingly angry.
So, Leonardo changed the subject. “Didn’t you say you were drawing me? Can I have a look?”
Rosie placed the paper in front of him in full excitement. “Look! This is you!”
Seeing the mess of red and green lines on the paper, he quietly took out a tablet computer. “Would you like to watch cartoons?”
Rosie nodded as if her head was about to fall off at any time. “Watch!”
She held the tablet and enjoyed the cartoons on the sofa while Leonardo resumed working.
…
Tim came with a title deed in his hand after office hours.
“Here you go, Young Master.”
He handed the title deed and a set of keys to Leonardo, who looked at them, then at Tim.
“Where did you get the money?”
Tim hesitated for a while and said, “It’s your money.”
He used to be Leonardo’s trusted man and was given a card. Kate did not know that Tim had been given such a card because she did not really understand Leonardo very well. When Leonardo got injured and lost his memory, Kate sent Tim packing, but the card remained with him. Now, it finally came in handy.
Summer was staying in an upscale residential zone, where the rich and the powerful lived. However, none of them were as wealthy as the Emerson family. Leonardo lacked no money, and he had always thought nothing of splurging when it came to things concerning Summer. Tim had known about that a long time ago. Since Leonardo told him he wanted to stay next to Summer, he did not hesitate on spending the money to get things done.
Upon hearing what Tim said, Leonardo said nothing. He got to his feet and walked to the couch. Rosie had fallen asleep halfway through watching cartoons, and she was lying on the couch with Leonardo’s jacket over her body. With the jacket still wrapped around her, Leonardo carried her in his arms. Despite doing it as gingerly as possible, Rosie was awakened.
“Daddy,” she said with her eyes half-open.
“We’re going for dinner.” Leonardo patted her on the head.
Still feeling groggy, Rosie’s voice was a little whiny. “I want French fries…”
Tim followed them, his heart melting as he heard her voice, but Leonardo was unmoved, and he rejected her demand. “No.”
Rosie was more alert now and becoming adamant. “I want French fries.”
“No,” Leonardo gave her a cold reply.
She pouted and definitely looked unhappy now. “Leonardo! Big monster!”
“Then you’re a little monster.”
Rosie blinked, and tears started to flow from her eyes. “I’m not a monster. Monsters are ugly. I’m Rosie…”
Leonardo glanced down at her as he calmly walked into the elevator. Tim had children. He could not bear to see Rosie cry and tried to help Leonardo coax her. The next second, he noticed that Emerson Nu had suddenly stopped crying. She wiped the tears from her face as she sniffed and looked away from Leonardo. By the looks of things, the young master still had a long way to go in learning how to cajole children. But Rosie’s ability to self-adjust was fairly good.
…
Instead of going home, they found a restaurant first. Since Tim still had to send them to the house, he stayed and dined with them.
Perhaps due to spending time with them for the entire day, Rosie became friendly with Tim. She even fetched him some food.
“Rosie, mind your own business.” Leonardo stopped her.
“But he needs to eat too,” Rosie retorted.
Leonardo fetched her a piece of onion. “He can do it himself.”
“That’s okay,” Tim said.
Rosie disliked onions and picked it out of her bowl with her hand. However, Leonardo picked the onion up and put it back into her bowl.
“Don’t be too picky.”
“Young Master, Rosie’s just like you. Don’t you dislike onions too?”
Leonardo was startled. Taking the opportunity, Rosie picked the onion out and dropped it into Leonardo’s bowl as she smiled sweetly.
“Daddy, for you.”
Leonardo was dumbfounded. He still did not eat the onion in the end. It was pointless to eat something he did not like.
Perhaps because Tim had saved her from eating onions, Rosie became very friendly with him, addressing him as “Uncle Tim”.
Tim sent them to Summer’s neighborhood, and as they arrived in front of the apartment unit, the door on the opposite unit opened. Summer looked at the two men as well as the child and was stunned. After a few seconds, she regained her composure and asked, “Mr. Emerson, all of you…”
Just then, Rosie ran toward her. “Pretty lady!”
