Carl had just only parked his car at the parking lot of Emerson Corporation, and before he could even go upstairs, he saw Leonardo and Tim hurried towards the parking lot.
Both men wore a dour, heavy expression.
Carl could guess that something must have happened.
He closed the door and walked toward them. “What’s going on?”
He was still guessing if this had something to do with Summer’s matter.
Leonardo saw it was Carl and said nothing as he went straight to his car.
Following behind, Tim explained to Carl, “The young mistress had been taken by his maternal cousin.”
Carl ruffled his hair. “Names please!”
The Emerson family’s way of addressing someone really frustrated Carl at times.
Tim was taken aback for a moment, before saying again. “Adams has kidnapped Summer!”
“The hell? What’s going on here?”
“No idea.” Tim turned to look at Leonardo only to see the latter had already driven away.
When Tim saw that, he wanted to drive his own car to chase after Leonardo.
Carl dragged him into his car. “We’ll look for her together.”
In the end, Leonardo simply drove too fast, and Carl could not catch up with him.
By the time he got onto the chase, Leonardo’s car was already nowhere to be seen.
…
Summer was brought by Adams to an abandoned warehouse in the suburbs, and in it were many of his men.
The warehouse was derelict, and there were markings of goods that were only found many years ago. The sort that she had seen when she was very young.
Summer was still tied up.
Seeing that she was looking around, Adams stepped forward and said, “I had carefully decorated this warehouse.”
Summer did not understand the meaning behind Adams’s words for a moment but understood that he harbored ill-intentions.
Adams seemed to be very satisfied with Summer as his audience and gestured behind him.
The next moment, the bodyguards brought out two chairs, and one placed behind Adams while another was put behind Summer.
Summer was put onto the chair by the bodyguard before being tied to it.
Adams however did not sit down.
He got up and walked around the warehouse, and when he looked back, madness shone in his eyes. “I’ve collected a lot of information about that kidnapping case back then, and I had restored the scene of the very same warehouse. That took me a lot of effort, and Leonardo would definitely be moved when he arrives, yeah?”
A flash of doubt flashed past Summer’s eyes, and then her eyes widened, as an expression of shock appeared on her face. “You had restored the scene of the warehouse where Leonardo and his mother were held captive?”
There was a subtle shuddering in her voice.
“Yeah, don’t underestimate this derelict place, it has cost me quite a handsome sum of money! But I’m very satisfied with the results.” Adams walked towards Summer and smiled brightly.
Summer shook her head again and again. “Why are you doing this? Even if you and Leonardo are half-brothers, the person at fault is Michael and not Leonardo! He did not wrong you!”
That kidnapping case had haunted Leonardo ever since.
He had been looking for the perpetrators of the kidnapping for so long, and his mother had been his life-long nightmare.
Adams had restored this warehouse to the layout similar to the location of the kidnapping and was clearly meant to trigger Leonardo.
If Adams’s objective was to trigger Leonardo and see him suffer, then he had already half-succeeded in doing so.
“Oh, even you knew of this? Seems like Leonardo does tell you everything.” Adams tilted his head, his gaze gloomy, yet his voice was like an excited child who had encountered something interesting. “Then, tell me who my mother is?”
The Adams in front of Summer now was a complete stranger to her.
He seemed to have lost his mind.
Seeing that Summer did not speak for a while, Adams curled his lips and laughed. “Oh? Even Leonardo thinks this is humiliating, so he did not tell you about it.”
Adams finally walked over to the opposite side from Summer and sat down, a strange glint was apparent in his eyes. “Then I’ll have to tell you myself. My mother is Violet.”
Adams said those last two words very softly.
Yet, it felt like a thunderclap in Summer’s ears.
Summer’s pupils shrank, and her expression suddenly changed. “What did you say?”
“I said, my real mother’s name is Violet. Do you know her?” Adams leaned slightly forward and closed in before Summer. “Leonardo’s aunt, Douglas’s mother, and Michael’s… sister.”
Summer’s head buzzed, as there was a period of blankness in her mind, what Adams was talking about, she found that she could not listen at all.
Violet and Michael…
How was this possible?
“There must have been some misunderstanding…” Summer took a long while to recover her voice and murmured.
Adams laughed and was seemingly enjoying the spectacle of Summer’s panicking disbelief.
A few seconds later, he smiled and said. “Then that misunderstanding was so great that they jointly planned that kid-nap-ping case that had not been forgotten until today!”
Adams spat ‘kidnapping’ out syllable by syllable.
Summer bit her lips tightly. “So you kidnapped me just to tell me this?”
She still found it unbelievable.
She could not believe that the kidnapping case that Leonardo and his mother had endured was actually caused by this absurd and shameful secret…
If what Adams said was true.
Inferring from the incident between Violet and Michael, it was most likely that Leonardo and his mother had known something about the siblings, so the two siblings conspired to kill them.
“It’s difficult to swallow right? Almost unbelievable right?” Adams lifted his head and laughed out loud. “HAHAHA!! I knew there was something fishy between the two! I know everything, HAHAHAHA…”
He had run into the two in disheveled clothes when he was young, but he dared not say anything, nor did he dared to tell anyone.
Until last year when he found out that he had the same blood type as Michael, and did a DNA test…
Fate had given him a birth that even himself considered shameful.
Adams’s laughter was maniacal, and it was obvious that his mind had collapsed long ago.
Much earlier, Summer had liked him as a dedicated actor that played his role for everyone.
Later on, after making real contact with Adams, she felt that Adams was almost too perfect.
And the more perfect and impeccable a thing was, the stranger and unpredictable it was.
And this thing applied to Adams very fittingly.
Summer had taken in too much information today and was very confused.
She looked at Adams’s maniacal expression and suddenly recalled that he had mentioned her daughter earlier, and her heart hung.
