Chapter 252 A Trap to Set Her Up

No one was leaving meant it was a personal freedom restriction in disguise.
Summer did not rebut. She was now worried about Grandpa Emerson. No doubt she was resentful of Grandpa Emerson when he sent a woman to Leonardo’s mansion. But after she talked to Grandpa Emerson, she no longer had any hard feelings.
Leonardo must be very sad now. When thinking of this, Summer’s expression turned bleak.
Silence returned to the corridor.
Alisa was not too happy with what Michael was doing, but she was afraid to say anything more. After all, Grandpa Emerson was still lying on the operating table inside, Michael was the only person who had the ultimate say.
Just then, Leonardo spoke with a calm voice. “Call the police.”
He had gotten everyone’s attention. Summer turned to look at him. She could only see the side of his handsome face, his eyes looking down. He was composed, but the grave air he emanated spoke louder.
“Since you suspect that Grandpa falling down the stairs isn’t an accident but a deliberate act, then call the police and let the police do their things.” Leonardo was speaking to Michael.
Summer could see the surprised look on Michael’s face as if he could not believe that Leonardo would make such a suggestion.
She became suspicious. If Michael suspected that it was a deliberate act, calling the police was the natural thing to do.
Michael was silent. After a while, he said, “Then, let’s call the police.”
He asked his men to do so, but since it was the first day of New Year, there was a delay in the police deployment. They were just told to secure the accident scene.
Meanwhile, Summer and the rest were waiting in the hospital. She woke up in the morning and before she could have anything to eat, this thing happened and she was here. She started to feel hungry as she waited for the operations on Grandpa Emerson to finish. But under such circumstances, she would have to bear with it.
The surgery would not be expected to finish soon. Summer did not know how long she had to wait.
Just then, Tim brought a few men appearing in the corridor. He walked straight toward Leonardo and acknowledged Michael as he walked past. Tim came in front of Leonardo and greeted him.
Leonardo shot a glance at Summer, and then told Tim, “Bring Mrs. Emerson home.”
Summer turned to look at Leonardo; why did he want to send her home?
“I want to wait for Grandpa.” If Grandpa Emerson wakes up, he could clear her name.
However, Leonardo immediately retorted, “You’re such an eyesore around here.”
“Leonardo!”
“Don’t assume you can do whatever you like because you are my wife. You are now a suspect who pushed Grandpa down the stairs. I’m asking Tim to send you home so he can keep an eye on you, in case you decide to flee.”
Summer could almost not believe Leonardo would say such a thing, but his voice was a matter of fact. He did not sound like he was joking.
Without even looking at Summer, he instructed, “Tim, haven’t you heard what I said? Bring her home and keep an eye on her!”
“Mrs. Emerson, please.” Tim came up to Summer, bowing his head slightly with respect.
Summer’s face turned pale as she took a hard look at Leonardo before she left with Tim. She could not believe that the Emerson family would suspect her, never mind that the reason was ridiculous. Even Leonardo has said so. She had no
Out of the hospital, Tim brought her into the car.
“Mrs. Emerson, there is something for you to eat in the box in the backseat. Mr. Emerson asked me to bring it to you.”
Summer was struck dumb as she glanced beside her at the box printed with the Golden Cauldron logo. Apparently, Tim had brought it from the club and restaurant.
“When did Leonardo call you?” She had not seen Leonardo calling anyone on the phone during the entire time in the hospital.
“An hour ago,” said Tim after thinking for a while.
An hour ago? That was when everyone was still in the Emerson family’s old residence. Could it be that Leonardo was just pretending the way he reacted? She could not help but feel delighted.
“He called you and specifically told you to bring this food to the hospital and pick me up?”
“Not really. I know what Mr. Emerson likes and dislikes. The food that he asked me to bring isn’t his type.”
When Leonardo instructed him to bring food and collect Summer, he naturally meant to bring food to her. Delight faded from her face, and she was silent.
Opening up the box, she saw her favorite food. But too bad; she did not have the appetite now. But when she thought again, even though she was not in the mood, the baby in her womb needed nourishment.
She still did not believe that Leonardo would suspect her just because of a few words from Michael and Alisa.
She and Grandpa Emerson had a pleasant relationship for the past few days; she did not have the motive to harm Grandpa Emerson. Leonardo must have his own reason to say what he said in the hospital. With this thinking in mind, Summer instantly felt better.
Tim glanced at Summer through the rearview mirror as he drove. He only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Summer started eating. Even he had not figured out what happened.
When Leonardo called him, except for instructing him to bring food and collect Summer, he mentioned nothing else. By the time he arrived at the hospital and heard the way Leonardo talked to Summer, he only realized that things were not that simple. He started to have figured out something.
As Summer finished her eating, Tim asked, “Mrs. Emerson, why did Mr. Emerson accuse you of pushing Grandpa Emerson down the stairs?”
“I can’t explain, but I didn’t do it.” She let out a sigh.

Everyone had gone to the hospital. When Tim sent her back to the old house, only the maids were home.
She thought of what Alisa had said. She was the only non-Emerson in the family, and Alisa was right in this regard. So their suspicion of her was entirely natural.
She did not go back to her room. Instead, she went to the spot where Grandpa Emerson fell. As she went, Tim followed her, just as Leonardo had instructed.
The police had come, scouted for evidence, and left. There was no useful clue left at the scene. Summer recalled what happened this morning as she traced up the stairs from which Grandpa Emerson fell. Everyone in the Emerson family suspected that she was the culprit. This would only show one thing: it was a set up—a trap to set her up.
