Chapter 100 Say Bye-bye to Her “Happiness”

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Summer’s feet thudded on the ground, waiting as “Douglas” talked on the phone. A couple of minutes later, he hung up and glanced back at her, face old.
She got goosebumps all over her skin because of his glance. She handed him the card and the cash. “I was supposed to buy you lunch. And I insist on paying for it.”
“Douglas” took the card but not the cash.
Summer still insisted, shoving the money in his hand. “Take it!”
“Douglas’s” eyes landed on her slender fingers, and he reached out his hand. She thought he was taking the money, but he was not. His hand held hers. Her expression subtly changed and before she could say anything, “Douglas” pulled her toward him into his arms. He looked down at her, eyes billowing with emotions, voice low and charming but words shameless.
“If you think of paying me back, then kiss me, and I will take the money.”
Psycho! Summer thought to herself. As they were in the middle of a busy street, her heart was in her mouth. She jutted her knee up, hitting him in the place where it hurt most. Leonardo was so occupied with her facial expression that he did not see this coming. She really got him this time; starting from his loins, an excruciating pain ripped through his body. He now realized how unguarded he was before Summer.
“You… you all right?” Summer heard a hiss, not much changes in his expression, but judging from how he clenched his jaw, he must be in pain. Her concern was real, but she did not feel bad at all-not when a shameless man tried to take advantage of her. She would not hesitate in the crucial moment.
“Douglas” did not let go of her hand, just saying in a grim tone of voice, “I’m fine. But you are not.” If she cracked his nuts, she would have to say bye-bye to her “happiness” for good.
Summer did not have a clue what he meant, just thinking she had angered him and he wanted his revenge. Could she still get away from him now? Just when she wanted to flee, she realized “Douglas” still had a firm hold on her hand. Her gut feeling told her, This is no good! She instinctively looked up at him. Just then he kissed her.
She was pissed off, trying to use the same trick on “Douglas” again. But he learned his lesson; she failed. His kisses were fierce and hungry, not giving her the opportunity to catch her breath. Desperately, she tried to push him away. But she was weak in her knees, her push more like canoodling.
Leonardo’s breathing became heavier than before, and he bit her on her lip as if it was a punishment. He then let her go, taking a step back and staring at her in the eyes.
Summer nearly tumbled, but quickly regained her balance. Feeling pain in the corner of her lip, she reached to touch it, only to find her finger stained with blood. She realized “Douglas” had bitten her. She had run out of ideas to deal with him. Scolding was useless; he had the skin of a tank. Physical resistance was futile; he was far stronger than she was. She shot him a glare and walked away.
“Summer!”
Just as she turned around, someone called her. It was a voice she recognized, one that sent her heart sinking.
Vicky came out of the restaurant and saw Summer and “Douglas” kissing on the street. But this time, she did not take any photos of them. The last time she did it and leaked it online, the Emerson Family had kept a lid on it.
“I thought I saw the wrong person. I didn’t expect it was really you.” Vicky came up to her, then pretended to be surprised to see “Douglas”. “What a coincidence, Mr. Emerson.”
Leonardo did not even bother to look at her. He crouched down and picked up the money that Summer had dropped on the ground.
As angry as Summer was with “Douglas”, she had to admit there was something extraordinary in this man. Even if he squatted down picking up money on the street, he still looked manly. She bit her lips, feeling embarrassed when she realized that his looks were growing on her. She kicked herself, Wake up! However handsome he was, it did not change the fact that he was a pervert who disrespected the wife of his cousin.
“Douglas” picked up the money, shook the non-existent dust off the notes, then put them back in his pocket.
Summer could no longer understand “Douglas”. She could not bring herself to hate him. She tried to get along with him, but he behaved like a jerk.
Vicky was struck dumb to see what “Douglas” was doing. He brought himself down just to pick up the few hundred bucks on the street? She did not know what the few hundred bucks were about.
She just knew that she had thought of a way where she did not have to return the Black Card to Summer but she could still save Jarrett Group from the crisis.
She could seduce him. Since “Douglas” stayed in Leonardo’s house, he must be very close to the Emerson Family. This way, she could kill two birds with one stone. There was no better way than this. When she thought of sleeping with “Douglas”, she got an even bigger triumphant smile on her face.
Vicky pulled her jacket open, revealing her low-cut dress inside as she looked at “Douglas” with a flirting smile.
But before she could say anything, “Douglas” looked at Summer and said teasingly, “I will come to fetch you later.” And then he left. Summer glared at him; he said that on purpose to agitate her!
The wind was cold. Vicky could not help shivering. She sorted herself, then turned around only to see Summer looking at her with a half-smile. Her face darkened.
“Jarrett Group is facing a crisis now. Instead of helping us to get help from Leonardo, you are messing around with another man. You have been very daring lately!”
“I’m just a small fry in Jarrett Group. Unlike you, my dear sister; I do feel bad about not being able to help.” Summer was all smiles, not looking like she was feeling bad at all.
She then walked toward Vicky. “I lost the Black Card. How can I ask Leonardo for help again? He is ruthless and brutal. I’m afraid that if he gets pissed off, he might vent his anger against Jarrett Group instead.”
“You abbreviated piece of nothing!” Vicky smirked. She then noticed Summer’s swollen lips and the wound on them.
