All some time, Vicky and Karen began to think that there was something going on between her and “Douglas”. If Vicky saw “Douglas” coming to fetch her, then it would be…
Summer could see the problem already. Out of the elevator, Vicky was the first to walk out the door while Summer sauntered behind and gave “Douglas” a call.
He picked up the phone real quick and without waiting for Summer to speak, he said, “Tell me you’re not changing your mind and running away with my black card.”
“Get over yourself,” said Summer in her mind. But wait…
“Where are you now?” Summer got a gut feeling that he had arrived. Otherwise, why would he accuse her of running away?
Leonardo cast his eyes up the entrance of Jarrett Group. “In front of the entrance. If you’ve not run away, get out now. We won’t get a seat if we are late.”
That said, he hung up. Summer called back, but he hung up on her again.
Having no choice, she kept mooching around in the lobby for a while, hoping that Vicky and Jerome had left. If they saw “Douglas” come to fetch her, they would tattle about how unfaithful she was again.
Although Leonardo’s attitude toward her had changed for the better recently, the relationship between him and his cousin was even closer. If gossip about her and “Douglas” broke out, she was dead sure that Leonardo would not side with her.
Unfortunately, things did not go her way. When she stepped out of the building, Jerome and Vicky were right there sitting in the car. Vicky rolled down the window, calling out, “Summer, get in. We will give you a ride.”
Summer knew what Vicky was up to. She just wanted to show it off that she and Jerome had mended their relationship.
Summer would not give her a chance. With a plastic smile, she said, “It’s OK. You go on with your things. We’re not going the same way.”
Just then, Jerome got out of the car, looking in her direction. “Summer, it’s…”
He suddenly froze, words stuck in his throat at seeing Summer’s new face. Vicky was not too happy, and she called him, jolting him out of his awe. And he finished what he wanted to say. “It’s okay, let me send you home.”
Did they say take her for a ride or give her a ride? Summer smirked and wanted to say something. Just then, she heard the closing sound of the car door. She looked over and saw the tall “Douglas” was striding up toward her. Only then Jerome and Vicky noticed a black Bentley had parked up in front of them.
Cars are big men’s toys. The shape and lines of the Bentley had attracted the attention of Jerome. He could not help but do a double-take and was astonished to find that it was a limited edition Bentley Arnage 728 Limousine, available only on special order and priced at 10 million upward. Each unit was customizable to individual needs. From what he knew, this one before him cost at least 20 million.
Jerome knew most of the rich kids in Hoover City. But the man approaching Summer was not one of them.
Leonardo came up beside Summer, glanced at her and then Jerome before speaking with an apathetic yet commanding voice. “You think there is no one in the Emerson family and she needs other men like you to send her home?”
Jerome’s heart skipped a beat. His mind went, “This man is from the Emerson family? Isn’t Leonardo a cripple? Who is this handsome man with an imposing persona?”
“He is Leonardo’s cousin, Douglas,” Vicky explained to him.
Upon hearing that, Jerome sneered, “How do you know him?”
When he slept with Vicky for the first time, he thought she was a virgin because he saw blood. It was only after the incident of her sex video scandal that he knew Vicky had done a hymen reconstruction surgery. What true love? It was all a lie. But for some reason, he had to keep his relationship with Vicky going. But deep inside, he despised her.
Jerome turned to look at Leonardo. “Mr. Emerson, I think there’s a misunderstanding here. I’m a friend of Summer. I just want to give her a ride. That’s all.”
“Oh, really?” Leonardo looked at Summer.
Summer was on “Douglas”‘s side on this. “We’re not going the same direction.”
Leonardo was very pleased by her cooperation, but he did not show it on his face, just a faint smile under his eyes. “Since it’s not the same way, then we should go now.”
Jerome still looked at them even though Leonardo and Summer had gotten into the car. How come Summer suddenly turns pretty? Even if she went for plastic surgery, she could not have recovered so fast. It was only a few days ago when he last saw her. The only explanation was she was never ugly all along. But why…
Vicky’s original plan was to show off to Summer that she had mended her relationship with Jerome. But she forgot that Summer had regained her beauty and it would surely attract Jerome’s eyeballs.
Vicky almost went off the deep end as she blurted, “What’s there to see? She has married into Emerson family already!”
Feeling agitated, Jerome looked at her with scorn. “Shut up!”
…
No one was talking in the cabin. Summer picked up her phone and sent a message to Jessica, telling her that Jerome and Vicky were together again.
Jessica replied with an emoticon that said she was utterly shocked. She could not believe there was a willing cuckold in the Patel family.
However, Summer thought otherwise. Perhaps Vicky had something in her hands that let her get Jerome by the balls, and he had no choice but mend fences with her. After all, a man like Jerome with a big ego would not have put up with such humiliation.
She told Jessica her thoughts. But before she could get a reply from her, the car had come to a halt. Summer undid the seatbelt and got out. The minute she looked up, Vicky and Jerome were emerging from the car right next to hers. What a small world, she thought.
Jerome saw Summer and wanted to say something to her, but Vicky came up and dragged him away. It made Summer wonder what made an egoistic man like Jerome put up with Vicky.
“Douglas”‘s voice jolted Summer out of her train of thought. “If you can’t bear to see him leaving. Get inside and keep staring.”
When Summer looked back, “Douglas” was already halfway through his journey to the Golden Cauldron. She had to skip to catch up with him. “What are you on about? Who can’t bear to see who leaving?”
“Jerome.” Leonardo stopped and shot her a sideways glare. Looking at his eyes, she felt a chill running up her spine.
“You know him?” Only then Summer came to her senses. She grabbed his arm and demanded, “You checked on me?”
