Chapter 50 His Time Is Worth More Than Gold

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Lynn would soon find out he was wrong about Summer’s lawyer. The lawyer, Warren Smith, was professional, as well as diligent, and looking steady as hell.
Warren Smith knew that Lynn was looking down on him. But he stayed calm and collected.
When Lynn’s lawyer handed him the contract, his keen eyes had spotted tons of irregularities in there.
Lynn knew shit about law, and his lawyer’s face had turned pale. Now it hit him that this the lawyer who Summer brought was a dark horse. He quickly said to Summer, “We have been very busy lately. So it’s natural that there are some mistakes in the contract.”
“Really? Even an intern would have spotted these ‘mistakes,’ let alone a lawyer with over three years of experience,” Warren Smith said.
Summer was like “How the hell did he know Lynn’s lawyer has at least three years of practicing experience? Do all lawyers read minds like a psychic?” She did not display her surprise on her face. Instead, her voice was soft. “Dad, it’s time to change your lawyer.”
Lynn turned to this lawyer and started whacking. “You abbreviated piece of nothing can’t even write a proper contact! Tell me a reason to keep you!”
The poor lawyer quickly bowed his head and apologized. “I’m sorry Mr. Jarrett. It’s my fault. I got the contract messed up.”
While speaking, the lawyer took another copy of the contract out of his briefcase. A veteran businessman like Lynn surely had something up his sleeve. He had it all covered; one was a rigged copy, and the other was a normal one.
Warren Smith took the new copy of share transfer agreement. After studying it carefully, he nodded at Summer. “It’s clean.”

They signed the share transfer agreement. Summer ordered two high-tea sets which she was going to take away and left Lynn to pick up the bill.
Once out of the Golden Cauldron, Summer handed a high-tea set to Warren Smith, smiling. “Mr. Smith, thank you for today.”
“Mrs. Emerson, you’re welcome.”
Warren Smith rarely accepted a tiny case like that, but being under Leonardo’s payroll and a friend, he was willing to help. Another reason was he was curious to know how ugly Mrs. Emerson was.
Her appearance was plain and simple. But in the eyes of a mature man like him, she was a beauty to behold. The true beauty of a woman was reflected in her soul, and Summer fit the bill well. Her smile, especially, was enchanting.
“Anyway, I’m still grateful for your help. And I know you’re a very busy man. Please accept this little gesture as a token of my appreciation.” Summer could see from the way he handled the case that he was a terrific lawyer. And only the best was sought after and hence busy.
Seeing how sincere she was, Warren Smith reached to take high-tea set in his hand. He would bring it back to Carl Jones. That rascal was a pig; he basically ate anything.
As soon as Summer left, Lynn and his lawyer came out from the club. Curious where Summer got such a badass lawyer, he approached the lawyer. “May I have a word with you, sir?”
Warren Smith looked at Lynn, face solemn. “Mr. Jarrett, how can I help you?”
Lynn tried to make himself look important. He hemmed and said, “Are you free for a coffee?”
“I’m sorry, probably not. I’m busy.” Warren Smith smiled, thinking, This cunning old man is no way as smart as his daughter. His time is worth more than gold. If he were to have a cup of coffee with everyone who comes to him, he would have been dog-tired.
At this time, the lawyer standing behind Lynn began to speak politely. “You’re Mr.?”
Lynn’s lawyer repeatedly muttered the name, “Smith… ”
All of a sudden, he clapped his hands with a regretful look on his face. “I know most of the renowned lawyers in the legal circle of Hoover City. Being such a mean and brilliant lawyer; he must be Warren Smith!”
Lynn had also heard of this name. A few years back, there was a legal battle in the business world of Hoover City. Few lawyers dared take the job because of its intricate implications. At last, Warren Smith took the challenge. The case dragged on for a few years and at last, he won and made a name for himself.
No way Summer could have hired such a top lawyer by herself.
It must be Leonardo backing her up.
Thinking of this, Lynn had no more doubts about giving out his 15% shares in his company. Knowing how well Leonardo was treating Summer, the chances of her successfully persuading Leonardo to invest in his company would be very high.

Warren Smith took the high-tea set and went straight to Tip Top Entertainment Group. Once there, he headed to the president’s office.
Carl Jones was not too happy that he had to work his butt off and was dog-tired every day while others could get out having some fun.
He knew that Warren Smith had gone out. So when he came back, Carl Jones demanded, “Where the hell have you been? Tell me or I’ll cut your pay!”
“I dare you!” Warren Smith shot him a glance, not worrying about him at all. Carl Jones pushed his glasses up his nose, his head lay on the table listlessly.
Warren Smith was a sought-after top lawyer. No one except Leonardo dared to deduct his pay, not even Carl Jones. Warren Smith placed the high-tea set on the desk. With a merciful voice, he said, “Enjoy.”
Carl Jones regained his spirit. He took a sip of the drink and frowned. “It’s from the Golden Cauldron?”
The Golden Cauldron used to be a hotel. When Leonardo bought the hotel over, he spent a fortune converting it into an exclusive establishment. During the absence of Leonardo, Carl Jones was holding the fort. He had been eating and drinking for free at the Golden Cauldron nearly every day to vent off his discontent and tired of it already.
“It was Mrs. Emerson who gave me this,” said Warren Smith with a mysterious face.
“Summer?” Carl Jones was a little surprised. “Why did she buy you afternoon tea? Holy moly! She seduced you? This is too much! You and Leonardo are close like brothers. She is trying to draw a wedge between you? She is malicious!”
“Well, you better become an actor. Let Leonardo make you famous.” Warren Smith smirked. Of course, Carl Jones did not mean what he said; he was just kidding. He had met Summer before and his gut feeling told him she was not that kind of person.
“You’ve seen Summer and should know she is anything but pretty. But your friend seems spellbound and has taken a liking to her.” Carl Jones did not mean to be disrespectful nor having a prejudice against Summer.
He just thought that Leonardo had some really weird preferences.
That got Warren Smith thinking. What was this dude talking about? He said, “She is pretty.”
Carl Jones was like “What?”
What was going on with these two dudes that caused their sense of aesthetics to take such a drastic shift?
