Dear godmother
Birthing life for the first time was such a magical moment for Ava, as right after the delivery, her son was placed in her hand. Her feelings a rush of excitement and happiness, making her forget about all the pain she had to go through to bring him here. He was so little, so peaceful… he looked so much like his dad, Ava knew what she was going to call him then.
She turned to her mate, “Lucas…”
“Yes, precious… I’m still here, and I see him too…”
More tears lined her face as she spoke, cradling him in her arms, “he’s… so beautiful…”
“He’s a fine young cub,” Nani remarked after giving further instructions to the servants. They helped to clean Ava up and the baby, before the Lucas took her in his arms to his room to recover as more work needed to be done here.
Shortly after, Nani entered to hand the baby over before leaving. Ava nestled in her mates’ arms as she breastfed her child for the first time. This was a peaceful moment, one that Ava cherished with her heart as she fed her little bundle of joy. She remained in his arms long after feeding her son. This was right where she wanted to be now; nowhere else.

That evening, the dawners held a celebration to welcome the young prince. Ava was still very weak, but managed to come out to see them for a while, they all held happiness and excitement for the new family. After the introduction, couple then revealed the name they would be giving their child, the one that they had both agreed upon earlier.
“His name is Ramsey Luke De’ Clan.” They announced.
The young cub prince of the dawn pack, whose first name was given to him by his mother, Ramsey. A wolf name which meant “new beginnings.” She knew why she called him this, because it signified many new beginnings for her and her mate, it’s a name that made them forget about the pain of the past, and look towards a brighter future for every single one of them.

After the introduction, Ava had dinner in her room and was about to retire for the night. Lucas had given clear instructions that she would not be able to entertain any visitors nor receive any gifts until the following day, but for a friend or two, Ava could always make an exception. A friend that was Kiara.
“Luna Ava, you wanted to see me?” Kiara asked as she entered Ava’s chambers. Ava had just put Ramsey to sleep in his cot, so Kiara had to be careful to whisper. They both sat down before beginning to converse.
“Yes, Kiara… and please, I’ve already told you to just call me Ava, for the millionth time,” Ava stated. “I noticed that you’ve been very uncomfortable around me lately.”
She shook her head as she corrected herself, “um… sorry… Ava. I don’t understand what you mean… that last part…”
“Oh, Kiara… of course you do. Don’t think I haven’t noticed despite all I’ve been occupied with.”
“Noticed what?”
“Our friendship… it’s not like the way it used to be before…”
“How do you mean?”
“I mean the way you’ve been so uncomfortable around me… I noticed it so well, Kiara.”
When Kiara realized that she could no longer keep denying it, she then sighed, “I’m sorry… I did distance from you a bit but I thought it was because you needed space. I’m sorry if you felt like I was avoiding you on purpose or anything…”
“Apology accepted, but then I know that’s not the real reason you’ve been avoiding me.”
“What?”
“Please don’t be mad at Cian for what I’m about to tell you… I know that this was confidential between the both of you but I do nag a lot when it comes to getting the truth. I went to meet him, probably he might be aware of what was going on, and then he told me about some challenges you were facing…”
Kiara felt her heart in her throat then, “w-what… did… he tell you?” She stammered.
“He told me about how you both had been trying…”
She felt as if she was boiling then… “he didn’t… dare…”
Ava took her hand, and then she stilled, “please, don’t be mad at Cian… please… I was the one who coerced him into telling me… he didn’t want to…”
Kiara seized her hand back, “You know, you really should stay out of matters that don’t concern you, Ava. Why would you go behind my mates back to ask about me?”
“Because I’m your friend… I knew you wouldn’t open up to me, so I had to find another way.”
“Well… you shouldn’t have… I’m fine thank you.”
“Kiara… I didn’t call you here to talk about any issues you might be having… it’s fine if you don’t want to talk about it at all… but I would not be a good friend if I left you all alone without at least trying to help you come out of it… and I know that you’d do the same for me if it were me.”
Kiara sighed, “of course I would… I’m sorry… for lashing out at you like that.”
“No, of course I had no right to do what I did, but I would do it many times over and over for a friend, even if it’s wrong.”
Kiara placed her head in her arms, feeling the need to say more then, “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to feel like this…”
“Kiara…. Of course, you can’t tell your heart what and what not to feel…”
“I know… but it doesn’t make me hate myself any less for being so jealous of you, Ava…”
Ava patted her back, “I know… it’s okay… but Kiara, you don’t realize how lucky you are…”
“Me? How lucky could I be compared to you?”
“You have a mate that loves you so much… you have many much less enemies seeking your downfall… just look at what I’ve been through with my mate… it had to take the goddess’s very intervention to bring him back, because I almost lost him forever. But, you and Cian…”
“I know… I’m so lucky that Cian and I never had as much problems… I shouldn’t have been so envious of you…. now I feel really bad… but it still doesn’t take away the fact that I feel even worse when I know that I may never be able to give him a child.”
Ava thought then that this wasn’t working, she decided to try another approach with their usual gossip, taking her hand, “Kiara… while I was at the Daivie… I saw something that might interest you…”
“What… what was it?” Kiara asked her curiously.
“There was someone you told me about before… someone you mentioned was very nice to you… Cian’s former mate, Stephanie…”
“Yes,” Stephanie had such a good heart… “what about her, did something happen?”
“Something did happen alright… Stephanie will soon become mates with alpha Daryl.”
Kiara didn’t expect that, “Woah… you don’t mean it… how??”
“The normal way of course. It had been going on for months and they made an official announcement a few nights before I moved back here.”
“Oh, that’s such great news… I am so happy for Stephanie…”
“Now, you see… that’s exactly how you should have felt for me.”
Drawn back by the realization, Kiara sighed, “I know…. And I’m sorry… I don’t mind saying it over and over until you forgiven me.”
“Kiara… the only thing I was mad at you for was trying to end our friendship just like that, and sure I have forgiven you for that now.”
“Thank you, Ava.”
“I remember how you told me how bad you felt for Stephanie with the way you snatched her mate, now the goddess has answered her prayers, she answered mine too today by giving me the gift she’d promised me months ago in my dream in those camps.”
“I am happy for you, Ava. I promise not to let my emotions get in the way of our friendship again.”
“Whenever you’re feeling bad about something, even if it involves me, we can always talk about it no matter what. Remember that the goddess takes her time to tend to everyone’s needs. As for the child you long for, what makes you think she’ll abandon your requests with the way she’s looked after you for so long?”
Kiara nodded, feeling better from her friend’s words, “you’re right, Ava. I’m really happy we had this talk. Now I’ll just have to be more patient and wait till the goddess takes my turn again!”
“Yes, I know that she’ll come soon.”
She got up, “thank you, Ava. I’ll be going now… I really shouldn’t be here when you’re supposed to be resting…”
“Sure. One more thing before you go, Kiara.”
“What is it?”
“My baby needs something from you.”
Kiara didn’t understand this sort of humor. What could a sleeping Ramsey possibly want from her?
“What does he need?” She asked aloud.
“He needs a godmother. And I want it to be you.”
