Luna Bride
“Are you ready?” Nani asked as she veiled her face after her make-up. She’d fully dressed and was all ready to go. Behind her were Meeka and Kiara who wore pretty dresses identical to Ava’s, only that theirs didn’t carry a large size. According to the bride’s requests, they were going to escort her to the altar tonight, where she would finally be joined to her mate.
Ava smiled nervously as she took the flowers that Kiara handed her. “I don’t know… this… today, its…”
“You’ll do fine, dear,” Nani assured her. “This union that has been fought for so long will now be established. There’s no need to fear, everything will be fine.”
As Nani encouraged her, Ava began to hear the wedding bells chiming from outside, the sounds that indicated that the dawn wolves were awaiting their bride.
“Let’s go!” Meeka giggled jumping up and down.
Ava chuckled, standing up from her seat as Kiara adjusted her gown. “Let’s go now.”
Meeka began dropping the rose petals in her basket, leading the way for Ava and her maid of honor. The little flower girl stopped then as a thought came to her mind.
“Meeka, what is it?” Ava asked her.
“Sorry, I just wanted to ask you a thing.”
“What do you want to ask me?”
“Can I start calling you Luna Ava now?” Meeka beamed through gaped teeth; her eyes wide open.
Smiles, “Meeka. Is that why you stopped?”
“Yes… I can’t wait to tell everyone that I am Luna’s best friend!!! Can we still be friends after you become Luna?”
“Of course, dear, sure we can still be.”
A few seconds later, and Ava had entered the wedding hall where everyone was seated. There at the alter was her mate, Lucas De’ Clan dressed in a fine tux, his dark hair waxed backward, his face fully in view as he didn’t take his eyes off her for a second, his escort of male guards standing right behind him in a straight line. Even with all the nervousness and anxiety, Ava could not wait to be joined to this wolf.
After Ava stood right in front of him, Kiara adjusted her dress and took her place behind her, while Meeka retired from her flower girl duties to go and sit with her mum in the congregation. Then the dawn priest, who was solely in charge of wedding the alpha and his mate, took his position between the couple and began his pronouncement.
“We, the dawners, are gathered here today to witness a union, not just any union, but one that we have all waited for a long time. A union that is relevant to every single one of us here, because it will guide us into the coming years. A fresh union destined by the goddess, and in which her light will continue to shine upon. Let us now begin our vows.”
The ring bearer took his cue after being signaled to, bringing the rings he held in the pillow forward, the rings were made from rare metals which carried the crests of the dawn alpha, as well as the dawn Luna; the first of its kind.
Lucas took Ava’s ring and slid it on her right finger, and she did the same for him.
“Do you, alpha Lucas De’ Clan, take this woman, Ava, to be your lawfully joined mate? Do you promise to love her in sickness and in health? In good or bad, for better or for worse? Will you cherish her, and promise never to leave her until death do you both part?”
“Yes, I do, Ava. I promise to love you… in sickness and health, good and bad, better or worse. I promise to cherish you, and never to leave you until death do us both part. I will never again let anyone or anything come between us, Precious, this I promise you.”
Trying not to pay too much attention to the prolonged speech, the priest then turned to Ava.
“Do you also promise this, to your mate, Ava Maynard?”
She said her own vows there and then, before those two words that sealed everything regarding their union, “I do.”
“And might I take that your wolves are also in accordance with this?”
It was a silly question to ask, because of course they were, they are true mates after all.
After hearing the howls, the priest continued. “As all has been said and done, and by the power vested in me by the alpha of the dawn pack, with all dawners serving here as a witness where the goddess’s light is present upon us, I now pronounce you both officially as man and mate, we will now seal this…”
Lucas didn’t wait for the priest to finish before throwing the veil off her face and taking her into his arms. He ravaged her mouth there as they kissed for the first time as an officially wedded couple. All the dawners celebrated the union, but this wasn’t the only celebration that was supposed to take place today, as right after the wedding, a Luna had to be coronated.
Ava handed over her flower to Kiara as Lucas then took his place on the podium. She knelt in front her mate as the ceremony continued. The ring bearer returned with anther pillow bearing the crest of the Luna.
“Ava Maynard, omega of the dawn pack, my wife, my queen whom I have bestowed this great honor. As you stand in the presence the people whom you are meant to guide as the head female figure. Do you agree to become a member of the dawn packs circle of leaders?”
She nodded, “yes, I do.”
“Do you agree to safeguard our secrets, your people, and those who will come to us for aid in the times to come?”
“I do.”
“Do you vow to become a strong leader, to rule with nothing short of honor and dignity, to be a good mate to your alpha, and a good queen to your people? And do you also promise to raise alongside your mate, the next heir to this seat, the one who will carry on the dawn legacy when our time comes to an end?”
“I do, I vow with all my heart to perform my duties as Luna in the best possible way. I promise to be a good mate to you, Lucas De’ Clan.”
This was a special time, the first time that the dawn pack would be appointing a Luna, and that was why this would be an honorable moment in the history of the dawners for centuries to come.
Lucas retrieved the Luna pendant from the bearer, and then bestowed it upon her, strengthening her powers.
After all had been said, Ava rose to her feet, and kissed her mate for the second time.
“To all the dawners,” Lucas continued after pulling from her lips, he addressed them again. “I now present to you, your new Luna.”
