Drawn to him
Lucas might have stood up to honor Daryl’s speech, but then there was one thing he’d settled in his heart then that wasn’t going to do; give a speech of his own. Alpha Daryl wanted him to, but he didn’t have anything in mind to say, this wasn’t new for him, as mostly being one who hardly liked public gatherings, most of such announcements back at the dawn house were made the responsibility of the beta or gamma.
Lucas didn’t need to say it out loud, but alpha Daryl had already gotten the message through his body language.
“It’s okay, you can have your seat now,” he whispered, deciding to make a new announcement in place of Lucas’s speech.
“Since there won’t be a wedding tonight, I thought it best to instead bring you more good news about my engagement to a she-wolf that resides in this very pack.”
An applause came next as this was news that the Daivie wolves were already anticipating. They already knew who the she-wolf was, because she’d been spotted many times recently with alpha Daryl. It started off as rumors until it turned truth, but they all couldn’t have been happier for their alpha’s new intended mate, the one who had lost her former, omega Stephanie.
“Are you waiting for me to call your name?” Daryl beamed in her direction as she shyly stood up in answer to his question. She went to meet him where he stood at his table, before he took her hand in his.
Daryl then quieted the wolves down as he continued, “Yes… yes… it’s all true. Stephanie and I have been seeing each other all those times we were together. It’s funny how the goddess plans this whole mate stuff. I never expected it myself… but I want you all to know that I love Stephanie very much, and I want you all to accept her as your Luna after our joining…”

It was a cheerful night, as many of the older wolves stayed behind to celebrate the new engagement. Ava was happy for the couple, but she had more things to worry about in her mind, so she left the dining hall early. Lucas may or may not have noticed her leaving, but she was thankful in her heart that he didn’t follow. She needed time and space to process everything, including how she would be raising this child on her own. As now that all Daivie he-wolves were aware of who her real mate was, and because of Rian’s punishment, they would all do well to stay as far away from her as possible.
Now her options remained either to return to her mate, or remain a single mother, none of which she wanted. Ava has always wanted a home for her cubs, a home she didn’t have because of her former duties. She was taken away from her parent’s way before the time she became aware of her name, she never met them, never knew who they were, what they looked like. They might have known her, but moonlight laws would never permit them to reveal themselves to her then. How she wished they had disobeyed for just once… how she wished.
She was back in her room now, all alone, far from the noise. It was nice and quiet in her own space, but yet it felt as if she was still choked up, her thoughts, her uncertainties, her troubled heart wouldn’t let her rest. She didn’t know when she dropped to the ground and started crying. This was either the result of the normal mood swings pregnant wolves usually had, or the different emotions razing through her heart.
What was wrong with her? Why is it that after everything that’s happened, after everything she’s been through, Lucas De’ Clan still refuses to leave her alone?
He’s not here now, and she’s not just talking about it being physically; he refuses to leave her head, her heart, her mind. He refuses to leave her alone. Right from the very first day they both mated. Ava has always been drawn to him, she’s never imagined a life without him, and this failed wedding… she’d only agreed to Rian not just because of her child, but because she’d thought that being with someone else, being joined to someone else would perhaps make this obsession of hers go away, but it doesn’t… the need for him keeps getting stronger, even with how distant she is from him. Ava keeps craving him, wanting him, with every second that passes…
She can’t hold it any longer… she hated herself for what happened last night… but yet, she wants more. Now more than ever, she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. All she knows is that she wants that man, that man that calls himself Lucas… she wants him here, right now, to be with her, she wants to be right beside him. Right. Now.

Lucas was beginning to have second thoughts regarding coming here; maybe he shouldn’t have, maybe he should have just allowed Ava to move on and have a happy life without him, even though he’d never be able to live with that.
What made him change his mind was the way she’d dropped this morning. The healer had told him that it was as a result of the emotional stress on the pregnant she-wolf, the stress he’d caused by coming back into her life. He’d managed to stay away from her for the entire day, with plans that he’d go to her after dinner, but then he feared what would happen if Ava didn’t take his presence well. The last thing he wanted was to cause more complications for her… or even a miscarriage if things went wrong between them. His mind told him to leave, but then he doesn’t want to. It wouldn’t be fair if he came here to crash this wedding and then leave Ava all alone again.
Now his mind is confused on what to do; he can’t keep remaining here as a guest, and he doesn’t know the best time to approach Ava. He wants to take her home, he wants to give her and his child the best form of care any man could ever provide, he never wants to leave her alone again, but he doesn’t know where to start from, or if she’ll even agree to go with him.
As he pondered, he heard a knock on his door then. It was far into the night, and he wasn’t expecting any visitors. His mind was so occupied, he didn’t think to ask before heading over to the door to open it up. Surprise… surprise there she was, standing before him.
“Ava….”
She didn’t let him finish before digging her chest into his and shutting his mouth with her kiss… like she knew just what he needed because at that moment, he grabbed her by the waist and kissed her back so passionately.
When they both tore away from the sudden contact panting, Ava spoke again…
“I need you, Lucas.”
“Ava… I….”
She shut him up with her finger. “No… don’t… say anything… all I want for you to do now is to make love to me the way you’ve never done before. I want to feel every part of you tonight. Take me. Make me yours completely.”
