Whispering voices
Erasmus had just returned to his room before taking his human form, his head hurt so much but it didn’t compare to the way he felt in his heart, it hurt like hell seeing those two like that; unspeakable pain.
A knock was heard on his door but he didn’t respond, he wasn’t in the mood to see anyone, to talk to anyone, he just wanted to be alone.
Sabrina waited a while outside the door of the alpha’s chambers but she didn’t hear anything, she wasn’t quitting because she knew he was inside. Of course, it’s expected that he wouldn’t be in the mood to see or talk to anyone, she would just have to put him in the mood. She opened the door slowly and looked around the outer chambers; he wasn’t here. She walked in and went inside, finding him the bedroom, he was seated on his bed, his eyes reddened.
A grin almost escaped her face. Ha! Who knew that such a mighty alpha could shed tears all because of one worthless human?
“Who told you to come in here?” He growled.
With her usual depicted innocence, “Oh, I’m sorry… um… I thought you might need some company.”
“Get out of here, I don’t need anyone.”
She ignored him and came closer, taking his hand into hers while giving him a welcoming look, “it’s ok alpha Lucas, I know how you must feel, seeing the one you love, in the arms of someone else, it’s the most painful thing in the world.”
Silence.
She brought her hand and began stroking his face, “it hurt me too, I thought Ray and I had a special connection that equaled none he’d ever felt with another woman, but I was wrong; I guess the love people feel for each other in the past is never truly forgotten, never truly buried…” her hand then wandered down, to his neck, his chest, his stomach, his groin, and then she slipped her fingers into his trousers, finding his phallus.
“Sabrina…”
In a seductive voice, “Shhhh…. It’s ok, you don’t have to say anything, you look so stressed, all you need right now is for someone to make you feel good… let me be the one to do that for you master.”
The pleasure was welcoming, hard to resist, but this was not good at all; yes, he’s heartbroken, yes, his mate had chosen her path, but this, this was all wrong. Doing this, after what had just happened, was so wrong.
Suddenly, the interruption Lucas was praying for came, the door was knocked on again, and Sabrina quickly removed her hand from his pants.
“Come in,” Lucas echoed, standing up to meet with his guard in the outer chambers.
“Kain?”
“Um… sire, we’ve locked her up, but she won’t stop crying; she wants to see you sire.”
A moment of hesitation, he thought better of refusing to see his mate even though he was not in the mood to see her, it was either that or he went back inside to Sabrina.
“I’ll meet with her, but not here, take her to the hall.”
He then left the room with his guard, after Sabrina overheard the conversation and afterwards, the sound of the door closing, she left the room too, following Lucas to the hall.
**********
Nani was still in conversation with Kozi in the healers’ quarters when Kiara rushed inside, her two feet jumping like there was hot coal on the ground.
Upon seeing her, Nani stood up from the small bench she was sitting on, “what is it, Kiara?”
“Cian just informed me that Ava is being taken to the hall as we speak; Lucas is about to pronounce his judgement on her.”
Nani shook her head, trembling, “oh no, it’s too soon, he’ll definitely still be angry.”
“Yes, he’ll kill her for sure. Infidelity against an alpha is never pardoned.”
“We have to go now. Ava got lucky the last time because the two hadn’t known each other well yet, but now that they’ve bonded so deeply, the wounds she’s inflicted on him are as deep as their bond.”
“He’s not in his right mind now. We have to stop him before he does anything he’ll regret later.”
The two of them then rushed out together the same way Kiara came in, leaving Kozi alone to tend to the patients. Nani could do nothing but fear in her heart for what was about to happen.
**********
Ava knelt in chains on the ground of the halls, wearing a prison rag sac the guards had given her after she was arrested. She’d cried her eyes out in that cell, so much that she couldn’t take it anymore; she’d then begged the guards to have a chance to speak with Lucas, even if he decides to carry out his judgement on her now, it was better than watching every gruesome second pass by in that cold empty cell.
Soon after the doors opened and alpha Lucas walked in, followed by his guard, and of course, Sabrina. She didn’t reach where Ava was, only went to stand in a small corner of the hall, watching everything.
More tears escaped from her face as Lucas reached where she was, he stared down at her but she didn’t look up at him, apart from the fact that she was ashamed, she didn’t want his eyes to remind her of the pain she felt in her heart too.
Suddenly, Lucas began to hear whispering voices in his ear.
“Kill her! Kill her!!”
He looked around, it was an open space, no one was near him, no one was speaking, and it seemed like he was the only one hearing these sounds because the other wolves in the hall didn’t show any such signs.
“Kill her! Kill her!!”
Why were the voices so loud in his head? He decided to try to shut it out, maybe speaking or saying something to Ava would quieten these noises he was hearing.
Tears dropped from his eyes as he spoke, “I don’t know what to do with you now Ava, it seems as if you’ve left me no choice. The last time it was well hidden between us, but now, you’ve let all the dawners see. Now, they’re expecting me to do what an alpha usually does to unfaithful mates. You’ve embarrassed me, Ava… you’ve made me a laughing stock in front of all my people, and worst of all, you’ve ruined our trust, I’ll never forgive you for that… ”
Of course, as he spoke, the voices in his head only grew much louder.
“Kill her!!!”
