Resurrected Ray
Evening time had come, and then the wolf guards gave the announcement; all the remaining dawners were now allowed to leave the safe room to return to their various quarters. Ava had been with Kiara all day, helping to distribute food round to them, and now when it was finally time to leave, they both began helping the younger ones and the elderly locate their quarters alongside their parents. Ava was carrying little Jannie who was sleeping, while Jannie’s mother, Suri carried her twin sister, Meeka who was also sleeping.
Ava was taking the young one to her mother’s quarters when she saw the prisoner being dragged inside by the guards, when she saw who the prisoner was, she nearly dropped the child she was carrying, thankfully she didn’t, but what dropped in its place was the heart beating inside of her.

“Come in Kiron.” Lucas didn’t waste any time in asking his question as the gamma entered his chambers. “What are the reports from the patrol?”
“We’ve scouted all our lands sire, and there’s not a rogue in sight.”
“Good, prepare another patrol for tomorrow, we have to be absolutely sure they didn’t leave any spies or bombs behind on our territory.”
Kiron nodded in acknowledgement, Lucas was then about to disappear back into his inner chambers when the next words of the gamma drew him back, “there is one more thing sire.”
He turned. “What is it?”
“They left behind a prisoner sire; they must have dropped him off to offload their weight while they were fleeing.”
“I see, and did you kill this prisoner?”
“No sire, we were waiting for your orders before we take any actions.”
“I don’t understand what’s going on with these rogues, first they send a small army to attack my lands without any warning signs, and now they leave behind a prisoner. What exactly does Vulcan have in mind to achieve?”
Kiron shrugged, “beats me too sire.”
Sighs. “Very well then, let me go and meet with this prisoner, maybe then I can decide what to do with him afterwards.”

“Stop! Let him go! Where are you taking him??? He’s not a prisoner! He’s not a criminal! He was once an alpha! Where are you taking him????”
“We’re sorry, we can’t let him go ma’am, we can only obey instructions the alpha gives us, he’s a prisoner from the Black Dynasty, for all we know he might be sent to spy on the affairs of the dawn pack.”
After Ava dropped Jannie off, she followed the two guards who dragged Ray Devlin into the pack house dungeons, they didn’t answer her cries to release him, he was still in chains when they threw him into one of the empty cells and locked him up.
“Ava?”
“Ray???” She ran to his cell, tears flooded her eyes as she blinked severally, hoping the tears would wash off this illusion she thought she was seeing, but thank the goddess, it appeared to be true. Ray was alive!
She held his hand through the iron bars that separated them, she was holding flesh! He was real! He wasn’t a spirit or a ghost, or a figment of her imagination, all of him was real!
She then looked at him strangely and began to shake her head, “I don’t understand, how did you?… I thought you were killed??!!! I thought you were dead! How is it possible that you are still alive?”
Ray gave her a little smile, “it’s a long story Ava, but…”
The guards suddenly entered the dungeon, announcing the presence of the alpha who entered through the dungeon gates along with Cian and Kiron, the three leaders had come to scrutinize this prisoner that the rogues had left behind.
As he entered, Lucas didn’t hide his surprise, seeing his mate in tears, locking hands with the prisoner through the iron bars, it didn’t take long before he recognized who this prisoner was and his jaw dropped, he couldn’t believe it himself.
He blinked numerous times, probably his eyes were deceiving him. “Ray Devlin? How is this possible? How are you still alive?”
Ray bowed, “alpha Lucas De’ Clan, it’s such an honor to meet you, I do understand everyone’s surprise here, I must say that the news of my resurrection is nothing short of a miracle.”
“Explain this miracle to us then, Ray Devlin.”
“I was revived by a necromancer, she told me how she dug up my ashes and took them to the divine river of life, beyond the blue mountains in the north, the only river that remains warm and unfrozen in the coldest part of the earth, there my ashes became flesh again and my departed soul returned to my body.”
Lucas took slow steps toward the cell, his eyes penetrating into Ray’s face like a shovel as he further interrogated, “and this necromancer, did she have any special reason as to why she brought you back from the dead? I’m sure you must have a special purpose or call, or an unfulfilled destiny of some sort, seeing as you were given a second chance, a chance that would only come once in a million lifetimes.”
Ray didn’t have an answer to give, he just stared at a blank space in silence, while Lucas waited patiently, watching Ava and how she didn’t take her eyes off him for a second, and after Ray couldn’t produce any words, Lucas turned to Kiron and gave the order.
“Kill him!”

Sabrina grinned with excitement as she entered back into her bedroom after she’d sneaked back to the packhouse. It had been a long day but alas, things were now going according to plan; the wedding had been called off temporarily, giving her just enough time to cause a lot of damage, and her pawn was now in the game. This so-called union that existed between Lucas and Ava was about to be shattered into oblivion, and she would be there to watch it all.
