Fighting the force
Lucas was carrying Sabrina in his arms; he was about to enter her room when he saw his personal guard passing by.
“Kain!!!”
“Yes master!” He answered.
“Send for Kozi for me, tell him to meet me in Sabrina’s room now.”
“Your wish is my command sire,” the guard then hurried off to do as he was told, while Lucas carried Sabrina inside. He lay her on the bed, watching her with so much concern written all over his face, he couldn’t look away from that position; it was like she mesmerized him, even in her sleep. He took her hand in his, stroking her gently, before leaning down to plant a kiss on her forehead, as his lips left her face, he then noticed a movement behind him at the doorway. He turned to see Ava standing there with tear-filled eyes, only the goddess knew how long she’d been standing there, watching as he cared for Sabrina as if it were her.
“Ava, I…
She didn’t hold back. “I don’t like it when you touch her Lucas! I don’t like it when you hold her! I DO NOT like seeing you with her!”
“We didn’t do anything…”
“It’s bound to happen soon with the way you are all over her all the time! Stop touching her Lucas! Stop it!!!” She yelled.
Lucas didn’t know when he also began to raise his voice. “For the goddesses sake Ava! Get over your insecurities. I’ve told you that I can never leave you for her but all you seem to be having these days is trust issues. In fact, you know what? Yes, I do care for Sabrina so much, I do like touching her, I do love holding her, and if you have a problem with that, you can as well go and find yourself another mate, I’m done dragging this topic over and over!”
He expected her to shoot back a reply, to continue the argument, but rather, his words hit her like a knife, making her dumbstruck to even utter a word, a fresh wave of tears flooded her face, her eyes and face reddened as she ran out of the room, crying.
As soon as Ava left the room, Sabrina woke up suddenly, a grin on her face, she began to speak without any sign of weakness in her, like someone who hadn’t just fainted a few minutes ago.
“Good job Lucas, you have finally pushed your mate away, now, soon you will be mine, all mine.”
Her words had a form of hypnotizing force to it, it was the same force he felt on the first night she tried to seduce him, and now here it was again, but this time, it was stronger than it was before, making it harder for him to resist. He knew that Sabrina was no ordinary she wolf, she had a special power he couldn’t explain, a power he couldn’t overcome, and worse, he couldn’t do anything about it, he couldn’t TELL anyone about it.
“Yes Sabrina, I will be yours, all yours.” What the heck? Why was he obeying her? Why did he have such strong force controlling his mind and movements?
As Sabrina was about to kiss him, the door opened and Kozi entered interrupting them, he quickly turned his head in another direction, as if it would make him unsee what he just saw.
“Oh, um… welcome Kozi,” Lucas said, his heart thankful that Kozi came in before something happened.
“I can see that she is awake now, might I know what happened sire?”
“She fainted just after she was sworn in, I thought you said that nothing would happen to her.”
“Yes sire, and I was very certain of the answer I gave you then; I know my work better than anyone.”
“Well, if you know your work as you claim, you’d better examine her properly this time, I don’t want such a thing to happen to her again.”
“Yes sire.”
Lucas then stood up from the bed. “I’ll be back to check up on you dear Sabrina, maybe Kozi wasn’t able to do his job properly the last time because I was here, its’ better if I leave. Please let him attend to you so you can be strong for me, ok?”
She beamed. “Ok Lucas, please come back to me when he’s done.”
“I will dear,” he planted a kiss on her forehead before leaving her room. Leaving Sabrina’s room seemed to him like some form of escape from the strong force, he didn’t know why he felt so drawn to Sabrina, he didn’t know why he couldn’t talk to anyone about it, the only thing he knew now was that he wanted to find Ava fast. It seemed like her presence was the only thing shielding him from Sabrina’s powers at this moment.
**********
“Ava! Ava!!”
Lucas went to look for her in his chambers, he searched everywhere for her, but she was nowhere to be seen. He has to find her fast because if he doesn’t on time, Sabrina might notice that he’s gone away and pull him back, now that he still has some sense left in him, he has to find Ava before Sabrina takes complete control of his mind, because now it feels like she’s trapping him gradually.
“Ava!!!!”
He searched frantically for her, in the halls, in the courtyard, in the study, he even asked a few dawners on the way, and after a long search, he finally found her in the garden.
She was sitting on the bench, crying into Kiara’s shoulder, while Kiara held a box of tissues, comforting her.
As soon as Kiara saw Lucas, she nodded at him before informing Ava.
“Ava… your mate is here; he’s come to see you.”
Ava raised her head to see Lucas staring at her apologetically. “Go away,” she pouted. “Go to your Sabrina.”
Kiara then stood up, dropping the tissues on the bench. “I think I should leave you two alone now,” she gave a final nod to Lucas before she left the garden, in search of her Cian.
Lucas sat beside Ava, he took the tissue box and removed a piece from it, taking Ava’s face in his hand and cleaning her welled up eyes with it.
“You look so ugly when you cry precious.”
