Chapter 28

“what could possibly be wrong with her?”
As soon as Alice Clark heard this, she immediately understood that Sean Matthews was suspicious, and she was certain that it would not be simple.
She stood up and said, “You’ll know when she wakes up.”
point of view of Sean Matthews
I had some concerns about her health, so I made the decision to take her to the hospital. After turning around, I went back and got her, and then I went and got Alice Clark.
Doona Davis was still sound sleeping when she was checked into the hospital.
Alice Clark had a number of tests to complete, and she did it as soon as she could so that she could report her findings.
I could no longer contain my frustration, and my tone became icy as I said, “just say it.”
“A little hypoglycemia, no asthma, like traumatic stress disorder.”
The frown deepens. What do you mean.
“You’ll know when she wakes up.” Alice Clark gave me a sideways look. When I saw the girl laying in bed, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for her.
Fortunately, in 20 minutes, Doona Davis woke up.
It seems that she found herself in the hospital and was a little alarmed.
“Don’t be frightened. We just took some blood. It’s alright.” When Alice Clark noticed me, who was acting erratically, she moved swiftly to calm me down.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that my wardrobe was complete.
“I hope you’re feeling better because I have some questions for you now that you’re awake.”
It was confirmed by Alice Clark.
Dona Davis’s Pov
I’m in a lot of pain since I can’t fly right now.
“Have you ever been in a situation similar to this before?”
After a moment of reflection, I nodded.
“When was the last time?”
Alice Clark posed the question.
I scratched my chin and mumbled , “it seems… When I was 15.”
“When did that happen?”
My eyes closed, and I saw that the hands in front of me were moving uncomfortably.
Alice Clark was paying attention, and she saw that I was terrified, as shown by the fact that I couldn’t help but drop my voice.
“Don’t be frightened. In this room, I’m only a doctor and I won’t do anything to harm you. I will treat you if you continue to communicate with me.”
I was able to hold out through the trembling in my body as the previously intolerable recollection raced through my head. I didn’t want to think about or talk about the incident that left a scar on me. It seemed like if it was opened, it would bleed and gurgle at the same time.
But Sean Matthews won’t let me off the hook if I don’t perform well .
In the event that anything were to happen to me, what would happen to my children?
When I saw the small boys, the painful image that had been playing over and over in my head was immediately replaced by their sweet faces, which gave me the courage to say, “… When my father slapped me.”
The dark eyes of Sean Matthews shook as he intently gazed at me at the moment.
The asthmatic response that I had just now in the suite was triggered by his punching me.
Alice Clark was taken aback by the reply.
“After my parents divorced, I lived with my father. He often struck me as a result of his short temper. Later, when he was 15 years old, he wanted to hit me again. At that point in time, I had no idea what the problem was. My body started acting strangely, my chest became congested, and I found it difficult to breathe. I ended up at the emergency room. The diagnosis given to me was… PTSD.”
“After that, what transpired? No more?” Alice Clark posed the question.
“Then an aunt arrived, and my father wouldn’t slap me in front of my aunt, so I didn’t have it again…” “Then an aunt came, and my father wouldn’t hit me in front of my aunt…” I remembered the incident, and I said how, when it came to my aunt, I paid close attention to his facial expression. To our relief, he didn’t put up much of a fight.
Accepting it seemed to be a challenge for me at the time. Surprisingly, it was not as difficult as I had anticipated it to be.
Alice Clark seems to be turning to Sean Matthews for guidance, as she keeps looking back in his direction.
When Sean Matthews stood up, his whole body was icy and suffocating, and his voice was deep and ominous. “I think it’s a good idea for you to go.”
After that, he got to his feet and went.
Alice Clark approached me after Sean Matthews left the room and said, “Wait, I’ll fetch you the medication.”
“No.”
“It’s always nice to have a backup plan just in case.”
After finishing, Alice Clark got up and went to collect the medication for me.
After having stood there for a few while, I walked away.
Do I need to take this medicine?
Of course not.
This is the psychological issue I’m dealing with. Despite the fact that the medication is having an impact on me, I do not want to be defeated once again in the future.
I was OK and didn’t have an attack at any other time; the only exception was when I met Sean Matthews.
The fact that I am Ceres Taylor’s daughter makes it very unlikely that I will ever cross paths with Sean Matthews in the future. He has such a strong hatred for me! Because I exist, he will constantly be reminded of his mother’s affair with another man.
When I arrived home, the children were sound asleep, and Susan was still in the living room talking on her mobile phone when I walked in.
“Are you back?”
Asked Susan.
“I’m sorry, I ran out of time.”
I said, “it’s so late, or I’ll sleep here?”
“OK.”
Susan turned her attention to me and said, “Are you all right?”
“Nothing, just a little tired.” I was thinking about something and told Susan, “Susan, you should take it easy for the next two days!” I’ll be the one to pick them up. You’ve been putting forth a lot of effort lately.”
“I rest. What about your work?”
I gave a pathetic grin and said, “I have to find it again, but it’s okay. I’ll find it as quickly as possible.”
“That’s to your benefit.”
I pulled the door open, the room’s modest lights came on, and seeing the youngsters sitting on the tatami made it much easier for me to deal with my sadness.
The next day, at noon, Bruce Scott phoned and asked whether or not the money had been deposited into the account.
“Yes, and you’re welcome.”
I accept it.
