Mrs. Shang thought that Ji Yan would be ashamed and would rush out of the door after she finished speaking.
However, Ji Yan’s expression was still calm. She stood up straight like a strong woman and said softly, “Although she is the recognized daughter-in-law of Shang family, but I, Ji Yan, am Shang Jinshen’s official wife. I am Shang Jinshen’s legal wife.”
After she said that, she no longer cared about Mrs. Shang’s reaction and proudly turned to go upstairs.
“You! You rebellious brat! You’re wrong!” Mrs. Shang was out of breath and pounded the table vigorously.
“Mrs. Shang, please calm down.” Yunlu was the first to come to her senses. Mrs. Shang was the one who supported her the most. If she wanted to become a part of the Shang family, she would need her help.
Mrs. Shang was furious. For the first time, Ji Yan, whom she looked down upon the most, dared to disobey her. How could she bear it?
Pushing Yunlu away with one hand, she rushed upstairs angrily.
She pounded on the door in fury.
“Son, look at our daughter-in-law. She doesn’t even respect me. In the future…”
“Mom,” Shang Jinshen interrupted Mrs. Shang’s complaint impatiently, “I’ll make it clear to you again that as long as I don’t want to get divorced, Ji Yan will always be my wife.”
“Learn to accept it. Don’t try to match me up with Yunlu.” He knew what his mother was up to and he could no longer stand how Mrs. Shang interfered with his personal business.
Mrs. Shang was shocked as she couldn’t believe that even her son was standing on Ji Yan’s side and saying such words to her.
“Jinshen, don’t you like me?” Yunlu’s voice came from behind Mrs. Shang. She looked at Shang Jinshen sadly.
“I remember when I was a child, Jinshen, you doted on me the most and I like being by your side the most.”
The more she said, the sadder she became and she also tried to find faults to blame him, “But Jinshen, why didn’t you wait for me? I have finally come back and I wanted to be your bride. This has been my dream since I was a child.”
What a touching love story! Ji Yan, who was listening behind the guest room door, was slightly moved. She wondered if Shang Jinshen would change his mind?
After a long while, Shang Jinshen’s finally spoke, “You can’t take things that happened when we were young seriously. You even once said you were going to marry Shang Jinfeng.”
Shang Jinshen’s sudden mention of Shang Jinfeng made the faces of Mrs. Shang and Yunlu change, and silence followed.
Shang Jinfeng? Ji Yan thought for a moment, but she wasn’t bothered by it.
“Jinshen, why are you mentioning Jinfeng? He, he…” Yunlu stamped her feet and there seemed to be an unspeakable pain in her eyes. “But the one I like is you.”
“You like me?” He chuckled with a bit of ridicule.
“All of you, get out of here. I need to work.” Shang Jinshen didn’t want to argue with them anymore, so he waved his hand to drive them out.
Mrs. Shang seemed to be still startled by the name “Shang Jinfeng.” She turned around and went out in silence. Even if Yunlu was reluctant, she did not dare to continue arguing as she knew since young, Shang Jinshen’s character was domineering and unyielding.
Perhaps, she should go to Ji Yan to talk about how a girl without a rich family background could be worthy of her Jinshen.
She made up her mind and was determined to become the only young madam of Shang family!
Ji Yan rubbed her head and lay down on the soft bed, no longer thinking about it.
It was hard to survive in the Shang family. But for sure, it won’t be easy for Shang Jinshen to take over Shang Corp. as well because of his disfigurement and disabled legs. Hence, as long as he recognized her as his wife, she would continue being his wife!
When she woke up, it was much darker. She changed into casual clothes and walked out, but the door of the study room was still closed.
Ji Yan went downstairs and saw that Yunlu, who was unwilling to give up, had not left yet. She was watching TV alone while Mrs. Shang was nowhere to be seen.
Yunlu saw Ji Yan coming down, but the envy in her eyes had already receded, and she even generously smiled at Ji Yan.
Ji Yan thought to herself, “This Yunlu is really unpredictable. It seems that she was firm at becoming the young madam of the Shang family, otherwise, she would have left.”
Ji Yan calmly replied with a faint smile. It was not warm, nor was it friendly. However, it was polite.
Madam Zhang came out of the kitchen and looked at Ji Yan with a happy smile. “Madam Ji Yan, you finally came back. Hearing the news that you were coming back soon, I purposely went to the market to buy pig’s trotters. Later, I will make you some pig’s trotter soup to help with your recovery.”
Ji Yan’s heart was filled with warmth as she nodded.
Yunlu looked at Madam Zhang unhappily. She knew Madam Zhang since she was a child, but she hadn’t seen Madam Zhang behave so friendly.
How could a woman like Ji Yan deserve such good treatment in the Shang family? She had completely forgotten that Ji Yan was the young madam.
Of course, even without her status, Ji Yan’s temper also contributed to why Madam Zhang liked her so much. As for this, Yunlu, the entitled daughter, could never learn.
“Ji Yan, right? Let’s have a talk.” Yunlu suppressed her emotions and looked at Ji Yan with a smile.
Ji Yan raised an eyebrow. “What do you want to talk about? Jinshen and your past? You feel that I will back out after hearing those?” She couldn’t be bothered and exposed the truth right away.
Yunlu’s face became frozen and she was instantly choked with anger. Her mind was spinning with wild thoughts. “This d*mn woman is so hard to deal with”.
She forced out a smile. “No, not about that. Let’s just have a chat. We may be friends in the future.”
Ji Yan looked at her with a faint smile. Even Yunlu felt a little embarrassed saying that as it was hard to believe that rivals could become friends.
