Chapter 77 Bottom Line

Book:Ex-husband, Let Me Go Published:2024-6-2

“You will handle the divorce tomorrow.” Mrs. Shang gave an ultimatum with a gloomy face.
“Where did you get these photos?” Shang Jinshen looked at Mrs. Shang and asked slowly.
Stunned, Mrs. Shang restrained her anger at her son, but she still answered him with a hideous expression, “Someone sent it anonymously. But anyway, she deserved it for being shameless. How could anyone take photos like this if not for her?”
Shang Jinshen gave Lan Si a hint to confirm it. He didn’t believe Ji Yan, but he was familiar with the man in the photo. It was Rio, reported on by Lan Si this afternoon.
If Ji Yan indeed did something wrong, the first one to know would be him, not Mrs. Shang.
It was obvious that someone was taking advantage of Mrs. Shang to target Ji Yan.
The corners of Shang Jinshen’s mouth curled. It seemed that some fool did not heed his warning and kept trying to challenge his bottom line.
“Son, what do you mean by this? Do you still favor this shameless woman?” Mrs. Shang shouted with a sharp voice.
Shang Jinshen looked at his mother and said faintly, “You don’t have to intervene in this matter. Don’t get too mad, you can’t celebrate your birthday with an unhealthy body.”
“Do I still have the mood to celebrate? I’m dying of anger!”
Ji Yan raised her eyes to look at Shang Jinshen and the pain in her heart subsided a little. However, she could not figure out what Shang Jinshen meant. Did he believe her, or…
“Who dares to piss you off? Alright, Mother, Ji Yan informed me when she went out. I also sent someone to protect her. How can I not know what she has done? Someone is deliberately provoking your relationship with her.” For the first time, Shang Jinshen explained in detail patiently to stop Mrs. Shang from pestering Ji Yan further.
When Mrs. Shang heard this, she looked suspiciously at Ji Yan. When did Shang Jinshen and Ji Yan have such a good relationship? But Mrs. Shang absolutely trusted her son, so she gave up.
But she still warned Ji Yan, “In the future, you should pay attention to your identity outside. Don’t forget that you are one of the Shang family. If there is a next time, I will kick you out even if you were wrongfully accused!”
After Mrs. Shang left, Ji Yan stood up from the ground with glaring red fingerprints on her face. It looked extremely unsightly.
Shang Jinshen said impatiently, “Madam Zhang, clean up Madam Ji Yan’s face.”
Ji Yan glanced at him again and obediently followed Madam Zhang for some medicine. Mrs. Shang used much force and Ji Yan still felt a burning pain in her face.
Thinking of last night’s enthusiasm and the fact that she threw herself into his arms, Ji Yan hesitated. After what had happened, she would not be so shameless to come to his door, although she missed Shang Jinshen’s warm embrace.
Standing in front of the study for a long time, Ji Yan still sighed and went back to the guest room.
In the evening, when Shang Jinshen returned to the bedroom from the study and did not see her familiar figure, the air around him suddenly cooled. What was that stupid woman doing? She even forgot to warm the bed.
Shang Jinshen walked into the guest room and opened the door without knocking. He startled Ji Yan, who was standing in front of the mirror. She was half-naked, applying the ointment in her hand to the healing whip marks on her body.
The ointment Smith gave was effective. The scars on her head covered by her hair had gradually faded, so she had been applying the ointment on her body recently. She didn’t expect Shang Jinshen to suddenly enter the room.
Under the white light, the scars on Ji Yan’s body looked ugly. It spread across her fair and tender skin like a caterpillar. People wouldn’t believe that someone was so cruel as to leave such stains on her smooth and jade-like skin.
Shang Jinshen also thought perhaps that he should ask Smith to give him some ointment to remove scars from the bottom of his heart. After all, her body belonged to him, so it was a pity to leave scars on it.
Ji Yan quickly pulled up her clothes and looked nervously at Shang Jinshen. She stammered, “You, that, I…”
“What? You’ve done something bad and you don’t dare to face me?”
Ji Yan pursed her lips. “I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Ji Yan, if you hadn’t met Rio, would those photos have fallen into my mother’s hands?” Shang Jinshen pulled up the corners of his mouth leisurely with ridicule.
Ji Yan closed her eyes and whispered, “Rio and I are not as despicable as you think. We’re only ordinary friends and he helped me a lot.”
“Shang Jinshen, there aren’t many people willing to help me. Please don’t implicate other people’s lives because of me, okay?” She could tolerate people targeting and hurting her, but she would never want to implicate others because of herself.
If those photos were sent to Rio as well, it would definitely cause him trouble.
“You’re kind,” Shang Jinshen did not agree but did not refuse. He slipped into the bedroom in his wheelchair and casually said, “Follow me.”
Ji Yan pursed her lips, put down the ointment, turned off the light, and closed the door to catch up with Shang Jinshen. No matter what, she was relieved.
“Yesterday, you threw yourself at me to seduce me. Ji Yan, don’t you think it’s disgusting for you to pretend to be reserved today?” Shang Jinshen was unhappy because of what happened in the daytime, so he mocked her. If he was not happy, he wouldn’t let her off either.

If she dared to, she would have slapped him in the back of his head. The more Ji Yan knew about him, the more she thought he had a foul tongue.
“Are you admitting in silence?” He raised his voice.
“I’ll disgust you to death!” Ji Yan dared to complain in her heart but dared not say it out loud.
In the middle of the night, Ji Yan couldn’t fall asleep. She didn’t know who secretly took photos of her and Rio and sent them to Mrs. Shang. She didn’t know whether Shang Jinshen meant the words he said to Mrs. Shang.
She didn’t ask Shang Jinshen for permission to meet Rio, so he had lied for her. Was it true that he sent someone to follow her?
Perhaps she had ignored something all this time. Why did Shang Jinshen appear every time Shang Yu An bothered her? Why did Shang Jinshen find her so quickly when she was kidnapped?
She did not ask but it did not mean she was not doubting. The only answer now was that Shang Jinshen had always had his men to keep an eye on her.
She did not know why, but this conclusion pricked her heart. After such a long time, she was still so untrustworthy in his eyes.
Shang Jinshen’s protection did not come from his trust in her but from the fact that he knew everything that had happened to her.
Ji Yan was somewhat disdainful of herself. She cared about it so much but did not dare to ask Shang Jinshen for an answer. She only dared to doubt him secretly.
She turned around and glanced at his face, which was still sharp even while he was still sleeping. Ji Yan sighed softly and closed her eyes.
Shang Jinshen’s eyes fluttered open only after she was breathing evenly. He had felt her gaze and heard her sighs.
Shang Jinshen was on guard. If Ji Yan had not fallen asleep, he couldn’t fall asleep as well.
Therefore, he realized that she had so many things on her mind. Except for the Ji family and her job as a designer, he never saw her caring about anything else. Then, what made her let out such a heavy and oppressive sigh?
