Chapter 75 Banquet Preparation

Book:Ex-husband, Let Me Go Published:2024-6-2

Shang Jinshen was working hard. Recently, some people in North River City were stirring things up again. They traded with foreign markets, intending to break the balance of the business world in North River City.
Suddenly, a fair and frail hand pushed open the door to his study. Shang Jinshen heard the sound and looked up casually, immediately freezing with a strange expression on his face when he saw Ji Yan.
He thought that she came to deliver supper. He didn’t expect her to come in wearing a skimpy, see-through bathrobe.
Shang Jinshen smiled mockingly, intending to see what Ji Yan was trying to play out. In the past, she would wear as much as she could in front of him.
Ji Yan had just been brimming with courage, but under the man’s deep and serene gaze, she felt a little uneasy as she stood at the door. The thin robe on her body made her a little shy. She felt as if she was giving herself to him.
Shang Jinshen looked at her and did not speak. Ji Yan did not know what to say for a while. She couldn’t just tell him directly, “Shang Jinshen, let’s make a baby.”
Imagining that scene, the goosebumps on her skin came running out. Ji Yan swallowed and slowly said, “Jinshen, it’s getting late. Shall we go to sleep?”
Shang Jinshen sneered and said with an unclear meaning, “I thought you were trying to avoid me.”

“Well, didn’t you ask me to warm the bed?” She asked awkwardly.
“Are you so self-conscious?” Shang Jinshen raised his eyebrows and said, “Go warm the bed first then.”
Ji Yan was a little discouraged. It was not easy for her to make up her mind and it was about to collapse. When she saw his teasing eyes, she couldn’t help but puff out her chest again. She straightened her body and approached him, step by step.
Her unique and refreshing fragrance rushed towards him. Shang Jinshen’s eyes were dark as he looked at her walking over with light steps like that of an ancient lady. Her slender waist swayed under the veil, exuding an enticing allure. His mouth suddenly went dry and he was bewitched by the woman easily.
Ji Yan put her hand on Shang Jinshen’s shoulder and deliberately made a seducing gesture. She breathed out and whispered in his ear, “It’s so cold to sleep alone. Will you join me?”
Shang Jinshen’s eyes were getting darker and darker as the faint flame burned brighter and hotter. He suppressed his violent reaction and looked at her with a straight face. “Ji Yan, what are you playing at again?”
Ji Yan bit her lips. There seemed to be a look of grievance on her face, making her especially pitiful. It made him want to hold her in his arms and dote on her.
“Jinshen, we are husband and wife,” Ji Yan softly explained the relationship between them. Wasn’t it natural for husband and wife to be intimate?
He devoured her red lips aggressively. After tasting her sweetness, Shang Jinshen smirked, “Don’t regret it when you play with fire.”
“Oh,” Ji Yan whispered, holding Shang Jinshen’s neck tightly, letting the man push his wheelchair to the bedroom while holding her in his arms.
He was disabled, but his way of doing things was even more aggressive than a usual man’s. Ji Yan’s eyes couldn’t help but flash with a hint of surprise. Were Shang Jinshen’s legs really gravely injured?
She dwelled more and more on this thought. Shang Jinshen threw her on his bed and her bathrobe was rudely pulled away by Shang Xianshen’s string hands. Ji Yan gasped and fell into a sea of passion with the man.
Before Ji Yan fell asleep after being tormented, she still wondered why a man with an injured leg was still so energetic. It seemed that his movements were not hindered.
But she didn’t overthink and fell into a deep slumber in the next second.
Shang Jinshen stood up and turned on the night light. He looked at the woman sleeping soundly in his arms. Her body was too alluring and had a fatal attraction to him.
In the study, her provocation had shattered all his calmness and self-confidence. He only wanted to hold her in his arms and release the fire in his heart. In fact, he had indeed done that.
But Shang Jinshen didn’t feel guilty. He merely didn’t understand why she had such an impact on him. In this case, perhaps he should enjoy her body well before the end of the marriage.
Luckily, Ji Yan didn’t know Shang Jinshen’s thoughts. Otherwise, she would never have touched Shang Jinshen, let alone thought about giving birth to a baby.
Ji Yan held her aching waist the next day. Madam Zhang considerately cooked her nutritious tonics. In this aspect, she had been living a relatively good life in the Shang family. At least, the Shang family had never mistreated her in terms of food and clothing.
But in the Ji family, Ji Yan’s status was the same as that of a maid, even though she was the second daughter. The Ji family couldn’t afford to hire a nanny and they loved to order her around.
Especially Ji Gui. She had to find fault with Ji Yan from time to time. Ji Yan smiled slightly, ignoring those annoying thoughts. Everything that happened seemed to be in the long past.
Before she could rest, Madam Zhang told her that it would be Mrs. Shang’s birthday banquet in two days. In the past, Mrs. Shang’s birthday was always celebrated grandly. It was a habit that Han Xiulan brought over from the Han family.
She didn’t know if Mrs. Shang was deliberately making things difficult for her. Mrs. Shang had already ordered that Ji Yan alone would be in charge of her birthday banquet this year.
Madam Zhang panicked when she heard that. Mrs. Shang’s birthday banquet was not something simple. When the time came, she would hold a grand party in the Shang manor and invite all the prominent families in North River City.
Therefore, if Ji Yan screwed up, she would bring shame to the Shang family, and there would be horrible consequences waiting for her. But if Ji Yan did it alone, she might be worn down to her bones.
When Ji Yan heard the order, she didn’t react much. She couldn’t reject such chores even if she wanted to. If people heard about it, they would think she was an unfilial daughter-in-law, and it might even ruin the reputation of both families.
Putting down her bowl, Ji Yan stopped Madam Zhang’s nagging and said with a smile, “Madam Zhang, don’t worry. I will do my best.”
When she returned to her room, Ji Yan suddenly felt a headache. She overestimated herself just now! She was born into a small family, so Ji Yan had never been in touch with any sort of banquets, grand or otherwise. At most, she attended birthday parties with a small crowd.
But the Shang family was the largest conglomerate in North River City. How could she organize a simple banquet? Ji Yan lay on the bed, paralyzed with a sore body, and racked her brain to think of something.
Ji Yan thought about it for a long time, but she was like a headless fly. She got up in a sullen mood and changed her clothes, ready to go out for a walk.
Perhaps when she breathed in some fresh air and looked at the blue sky and white clouds, she would get some good ideas.
Ji Yan went out of the Shang manor and aimlessly walked along the road for a long time. Finally, she stopped at a square and sat on a wooden bench, looking up at the sky.
As the breeze swept by, the yellow leaves of autumn fell from the sky. A paper plane similar to those from her childhood memories flew toward Ji Yan, who was sitting on a wooden bench.
Ji Yan blinked and smiled as she watched the paper plane fall to the ground. It floated to her feet. Not far away came the cry of a child. She bent down and picked it up, wanting to return it to its owner.
