When Ji Yan and Li Wenjing arrived, they were just in time. When the people saw them, everyone looked over.
Ji Yan looked around and saw Rio sitting alone on a sofa, drinking water. It seemed that he had noticed her gaze and looked up at Ji Yan.
She was a little nervous but also expectant. Holding her design piece, she walked carefully to the stage.
The contestants needed to place their works on the stage’s center and give a speech on their piece before the judges scored them. Ji Yan stood behind the stage and tried to calm herself down.
She glanced at Rio again. Her intuition told her that Rio was sitting there to look at her work, so Ji Yan was a little excited.
She had heard of Rio. In the beginning, she didn’t dare to think about it. Ji Yan didn’t expect Rio to participate in the competition in such a low-profile manner. She also didn’t expect him to take the initiative to swap places with her.
Li Wenjing gave her an encouraging look on the stage. Ji Yan smiled and calmed down completely.
She steadily explained with a sweet and clear voice, which sounded pleasing to the ears.
Everyone’s eyes followed her hand as she lifted the mysterious gauze. Under the lamplight, they looked at the simple design that looked even more beautiful with the cracks.
Rio’s eyes also flashed as he looked at it, and the way he looked at Ji Yan was somewhat different.
Ji Yan’s speech went smoothly. Until she walked out of the exhibition hall, some people still hadn’t come back to their senses.
“Ji Yan, you can rest assured that we will get a good result.” Li Wenjing smiled happily. Now, they could only wait for the results to come out, but she was still confident.
Other than Rio’s work, which was displayed at the center of the stage, Ji Yan’s work was also quite creative and meaningful.
Ji Yan was still a little absent-minded and said, “I saw Rio’s work. It really makes people…” She couldn’t find a word to describe it.
“You’re good.” The sudden voice scared Ji Yan and Li Wenjing. They turned around and found that it was Rio, still wearing a hat.
Ji Yan heard his praise and couldn’t help but reveal a bright smile. She said sincerely, “Thank you.”
Rio waved his hand, his thin lips under the hat slightly curved. He walked past them gracefully and got into a white off-road vehicle in front.
“So cool!” Li Wenjing couldn’t help but exclaim with deep admiration in her eyes.
Ji Yan tilted her head and said to Li Wenjing, “Let’s go. I’ll treat you to a big meal.”
When they were about to stop a taxi, Shao Kai came after them and said, “Hey, are you going out to celebrate without me?”
Shao Kai made a pitiful look. Ji Yan was in a good mood., so she smiled and waved to him to get in the car.
Shao Kai immediately got into the passenger seat, fastened his seat belt, turned around, and said to Ji Yan, “Congratulations, Miss Ji.”
Ji Yan was modest and she didn’t like to get carried away. “The result wasn’t been announced yet.”
“Miss Ji, don’t be too modest. As a layman, I can see that your work is unique, and presumably, the judges would think so as well.”
With Li Wenjing and Shao Kai, the atmosphere at dinner was cheerful. They went to enjoy hotpot, intending to have a good time.
“Mr. Shang, Madam Ji Yan went to celebrate at a hotpot restaurant with Miss Li and a male supervisor of their company,” Lan Si reported dutifully.
When Shang Jinshen heard about the male supervisor, his expression changed inadvertently, and he felt a little annoyed.
As soon as that woman went out of the door, she became disobedient and began to attract men everywhere. Naturally, Shang Jinshen knew what happened to Ji Yan on this day, and he also knew that Rio helped Ji Yan out of her predicament.
For some reason, Shang Jinshen was pissed. He had the urge to drag her to his side and torture her.
Ji Yan naturally did not know Shang Jinshen’s perverted thoughts. Otherwise, her good mood would have disappeared immediately.
Ji Yan was so happy that she completely forgot the wounds on her body had not yet healed. She took a few sips of the wine and didn’t even stop eating spicy food.
When she went out of the hotpot restaurant, her face was flushed, teasing Shao Kai’s heart.
In the middle of the night, Li Wenjing was awakened by Ji Yan’s whimpers. She turned on the night light and looked at Ji Yan’s blushing face, and suddenly, she was no longer sleepy.
She reached out and touched Ji Yan’s forehead, cursing inwardly. Why did Ji Yan have a fever? She called out a few times, but Ji Yan didn’t wake up. Li Wenjing couldn’t do anything about it. She was so anxious that she called Shao Kai, who was next door.
After Shao Kai came over, he helped send Ji Yan to a hospital nearby. The nurse was shocked by Ji Yan’s body temperature. It was almost 40 degrees!
He quickly arranged a ward for Ji Yan. The nurse gave Ji Yan medicine and took some alcohol to wipe Ji Yan’s body. However, when she suddenly saw the red and swollen whip marks on Ji Yan’s body, she was shocked. She went out and asked Li Wenjing, “Why are there so many wounds on the patient’s body?”
“Wounds?” Li Wenjing suddenly remembered the red marks on Ji Yan’s arm before. She swallowed and asked, “Are there many wounds on her body?”
The nurse nodded seriously. “Yes, those marks were all left by a whip.”
Shao Kai, standing at the side, also heard their conversation and could not help but look puzzled.
Li Wenjing had no time to think about it. She said to the nurse, “Please prescribe some medicine for her. I don’t know the specific situation very well.”
The nurse nodded, “You’d better contact her family. Her wounds look intentional. Perhaps something bad has happened to the patient.”
It was not the nurse’s fault to assume things. Anyone who saw so many wounds would think that Ji Yan had been abused and tortured.
Li Wenjing closed the door, cutting off Shao Kai’s sight. She took medicine sent by the nurse to apply them on Ji Yan. She didn’t dare to look straight at the red and swollen cuts on Ji Yan’s body. They were like horrible-looking scars on Ji Yan’s fair skin.
Li Wenjing couldn’t figure out who would do this to Ji Yan. In her mind, the man in the black car suddenly appeared. She sighed and covered Ji Yan with the quilt. Ji Yan had hidden her wounds from everyone, so she certainly didn’t want to mention them.
She had asked Shao Kai to leave the hospital first, but GN suddenly summoned them. Ji Yan had a fever and was still unconscious, so the only person who could go was Li Wenjing.
Therefore, before she left, she asked Shao Kai to take care of Ji Yan. Shao Kai did not refuse and sat in the ward, waiting for Ji Yan to wake up. Fortunately, the nurse came to check the room in the morning and said that her fever had subsided.
Shao Kai stared at Ji Yan’s face out of boredom. Her face, which had turned red because of her illness, looked even more pitiful. Shao Kai’s heart skipped a beat and he reached out to touch her cheek.
At this time, the door was flung open. Behind the nurse was a man in a wheelchair.
“The patient’s family is here,” The nurse said to Shao Kai as she gave way to the man behind her.
Shao Kai met with a pair of ice-cold eyes. He felt a sudden chill in his heart. Under the pressure of a strange man, he could not help but retract his hand from Ji Yan’s face.
