Chapter 30 Heart

Book:Ex-husband, Let Me Go Published:2024-6-2

Shang Jinshen stood at the door of the bedroom, watching everything that had happened just now.
“The bank card is in the bedside table’s drawer.”
As he spoke, he pushed his wheelchair in and faced Ji Yan.
Ji Yan immediately became like a frightened kitten. It felt like all her hairs stood on end as she went into a high state of alertness.
Shang Jinshen looked at Ji Yan’s pale face and opened the first cabinet on the bedside table. He took out the bank card and put it beside her. “I have said that I will keep my word.”
Ji Yan stared at the bank card with her red eyes. After a long while, she slowly reached out and grasped the card in her hand.
“Thank you!”
She lowered her head and spoke softly.
“There’s nothing to thank me. You were the one who exchanged your life for it,” Shang Jinshen said as he narrowed his eyes and stared at Ji Yan. “And you almost lost two lives.”
“Jinshen, I…”
Ji Yan looked up, but when she saw Shang Jinshen’s deep gaze, she immediately lowered her head. How could she have the face to explain it to him?
Everything she had experienced might merely be a joke in Shang Jinshen’s eyes.
“I’m not interested in your past, but I hope you remember that you’re my wife, the Young Madam of the Shang family.”
Ji Yan nodded as though she was pounding garlic. Shang Jinshen let out a cold snort when he saw her stupid manner. After that, he pushed his wheelchair and turned around to leave.
“He let me go so easily?” Ji Yan looked at Shang Jinshen’s back incredulously and felt that it must be her illusion.
“By the way,” Shang Jinshen suddenly stopped and said, “Finish the chicken soup.”
After that, he pushed his wheelchair and disappeared from the door of the bedroom.
Ji Yan looked at the bank card in her hand, raised her hand, and pinched her face hard. “Ouch!”
It was not a dream!
She sniffed and thought that great fortune indeed came after a misfortune. As she thought about it, Ji Yan picked up the chicken soup from the bedside table and gulped it down.
There was still a long way to go in the future and it was impossible to survive without good health.
Ji Yan didn’t know whether it was the chicken soup or her heart that warmed up her body gradually. She took the bank card in her hand and wanted to get out of bed.
“Oh dear, Madam Ji Yan!”
Madam Zhang happened to walk in with the new bedsheets. Seeing that Ji Yan was about to get out of the bed, Madam Zhang ran to her in a few steps and helped her up.
“Madam Ji Yan, why don’t you lie down? What are you getting up for?”
Ji Yan felt a soreness in her abdomen. It was so painful that she could hardly stand straight.
“Madam Zhang, I have something urgent to do. I need to go out.”
“Go out?” Madam Zhang raised her voice. “Don’t be silly. You can’t do it. You just lost a child, so you need to take good care of yourself. If you go out like this, you will suffer a lot in the future!”
Ji Yan listened to Madam Zhang’s words and she was stunned for a while. She couldn’t remember when was the last time someone had cared about her.
Madam Zhang glanced at Ji Yan’s red eyes. “Madam Ji yan, what’s wrong with you? Did I say something wrong?”
Ji Yan sniffed and shook her head.
“No, no. It’s just that, Madam Zhang, I am really in a hurry.” Ji Yan said as she showed the bank card in her hand. “My family is in urgent need of money. My stepmother has urged me many times.”
Madam Zhang looked at Ji Yan and was stunned. “Madam Ji Yan, do you mean that the woman we have met is not your biological mother?”
Ji Yan sighed slightly and nodded.
Madam Zhang shook her head and seemed to understand something of a sudden.
“Madam Ji Yan, you really can’t go out now. How about you lie down first and I’ll help you find a way, okay?” Madam Zhang appeased Ji Yan. “I heard from Mr. Shang that he will be going out later. If it doesn’t work, I’ll send this over for you.”
“Really?” Ji Yan’s eyes widened with excitement. “Madam Zhang, thank you!”
“There’s no need!”
Shang Jinshen appeared at the door with his assistant. He changed into a tailored suit with a matching tie. It looked like he was going to socialize.
“I’m going out now and Madam Zhang has to take care of you.” Shang Jinshen said it as if he was hesitating, “If they are in such a hurry, let them come themselves.”
Ji Yan and Madam Zhang both looked at Shang Jinshen in confusion.
“Madam Zhang, if Madam Ji Yan steps out of this room today, I will look for you!”
As soon as Shang Jinshen finished his words, the assistant pushed him away.
What do Shang Jinshen’s words mean? Ji Yan thought for a long time and looked at Madam Zhang with confusion.
“Madam Ji Yan, I think you should do what Mr. Shang says. Don’t go against his wishes,” Madam Zhang said as she looked at Ji Yan. “Young Madam, there are a few things that I don’t know if I should say.”
“Madam Zhang, if you have anything to say, just say it. In this family, you are the best one to me.”
Ji Yan took the initiative to hold Madam Zhang’s hand. It was her true feelings.
“Madam Ji Yan, I watched Mr. Shang grow up. He is indeed a bad-tempered person who is difficult to get along with.”
Madam Zhang smiled.
“But he isn’t as cold as he looks. Take today’s incident as an example. When Mr. Shang brought you back and when you were undergoing the operation, the worried look on his face was definitely not fake.”
“Worried?” Ji Yan looked at Madam Zhang and thought there was something wrong with her hearing. “Do you mean that Shang Jinshen will worry about me?”
Ji Yan shook her head. “No, it’s impossible. In his heart, I am someone who will do anything for money. He has always hated me. I know that.”
She bowed her head. “Sometimes, I also hate myself for being like this. I hate to go against my own will.”
“Madam Ji Yan!” Madam Zhang raised her voice. “Why don’t you understand? Mr. Shang didn’t get angry with you even though such a huge thing happened today and he also told us not to tell his parents. Don’t you understand?”
Ji Yan looked at the enthusiastic Madam Zhang and thought she did not know the inside story. Of course, Shang Jinshen did not want anyone to know that his wife had another man’s child.
“Madam Ji Yan, if I may speak my mind?”
Madam Zhang sat closer to Ji Yan and glanced at the door. Making sure that there was no one, she lowered her voice.
“The most important thing for you now is to take a good rest and then take the opportunity to have another child. When you have a child, your status at home will naturally be different.”
Ji Yan looked at Madam Zhang and smiled. “Madam Zhang, the times are different now. Even in those TV dramas, many women who bore sons were driven out, weren’t they?”
Madam Zhang got up and gently pushed Ji Yan’s forehead with a smile.
“My silly madam, you have watched too many TV dramas. How can your daily life be like a drama?”
Ji Yan shrugged with a smile. Would she and Shang Jinshen ever have their own child?
From Ji Yan’s view, this matter was something that she didn’t even dare to think about!
