Chapter 9 Shang Yu An

Cooking had always been Ji Yan’s forte.
Not long later, delicious food filled the table.
There were sweet and sour fish, steamed prawns, stir fry green peppers, eggs with tomato, roasted potatoes beef, and braised chicken wings.
The dishes were extensive.
Ji Gui also came out of the room. Her wound had been bandaged, and her eyes were still a little red, which made people see her weak.
Ji Yan sat down next to Shang Jinshen and was about to get up and prepare the dishes for him. He placed his hand on her thigh, so she sat down again.
His palms were warm as they rested on her thighs, making her body feel like an electric current had passed through them.
She moved his hand away, lowered her eyes, picked up the spoon, and prepared to eat.
Mr. Ji and Mrs. Ji kept picking up food for Ji Gui and Shang Jinshen.
“Shang Jinshen, eat some more. Ji Yan’s cooking is not that good, but these dishes are all freshly prepared.”
Mrs. Ji smiled while picking up a lot of food for Ji Gui too.
Ji Yan was eating the rice. They said that she was not good at cooking, but why did they finish all the food every time? It was ridiculous!
Mr. Ji also picked up some food for him and said with a smile, “That’s right, eat a little more. Our food can’t be compared with the delicacies in the Shang family. Our dishes are just a simple home-cooked meal!”
From the beginning to the end, the Ji family ignored the woman around them as if she was nothing.
Shang Jinshen glanced to the side. The woman beside him was burying her head while eating quietly. She didn’t even have the intention to extend her spoon across the table.
Did she intend to end this whole thing quickly and sneak away?
A trace of coldness appeared at the corner of his mouth. The dishes in Ji Gui’s and his bowls could not pile up anymore as there was no space left.
He reached out his spoon, picked up a piece of fish, and placed it in her bowl.
Ji Yan had been eating quietly. She just wanted to finish her meal as soon as possible.
Anyway, that was how she coped with every meal she had in the Ji family.
Suddenly, a piece of a hot slice of fish appeared in her bowl. She raised her head in surprise and looked into Shang Jinshen’s deep obsidian-like eyes.
His eyes seemed to have a suction force, which made her fall into a whirlpool.
The Ji family members were also stunned. Ji Gui, in particular, frowned, as if she was thinking about something.
Mrs. Ji was also stunned, but then she smiled and said, “Mr. Shang, you can continue to eat your food. Don’t worry about her. She doesn’t like to eat dishes anyway!”
Ji Yan paused, but she felt a stabbing pain in her heart.
Even a stranger, who had only met her for two days, was more concerned about her than her parents.
She didn’t know whether she should cry or laugh.
She picked up the fish, stuffed it into her mouth, and chewed it together with the fishbone.
At this time, there was a knock on the door. Ji Gui heard it and quickly jumped up to open the door, “It’s Yu An!”
Yu An…
Shang Yu An.
Ji Yan was stunned after hearing this name.
Her ex-boyfriend was called Yu An, wasn’t he? Her parents forced her to get married on behalf of her sister. Thus, she has separated from Shang Yu An abruptly.
But at this moment…
The door opened and Shang Yu An stood at the door. He glanced around the living room and was taken aback when he saw Ji Yan. However, he quickly noticed Shang Jinshen who was beside her.
His expression instantly returned to normal.
Ji Gui held onto the tall and handsome Shang Yu An and walked to the dinner table.
Shang Yu An put his gifts aside, then Mr. Ji and Mrs. Ji hurriedly said, “Ji Gui, go and get another set of cutlery. You happen to be in time for dinner. Yu An, why didn’t you tell us that you’re coming? We could have waited for you to come.”
“Aunt, thank you,” Shang Yu An replied politely, “There was a traffic jam on the way here. I heard that Ji Gui had hurt her hand, so I brought some medicine.”
After saying that, he looked at Ji Yan. Ji Yan had been continuing to eat with her head down. She didn’t bother to look at him at all.
Her ex-boyfriend was her elder sister’s current boyfriend. How ironic it was!
